I was hit with a bait and switch for the unit I secured online with what the manager, Ashley King, said was a 3rd party. I wasn't told in advance I would need a copy of my homeowners policy certificate or I'd have to pay $11 per month. Ashley put her card in front of me and told me to call my agent right then in order to continue with the rental. 15 minutes into the situation I was told I had rented an interior space and if I wanted drive up it would be another $20/month. None of this was on the reservation email I received. She kept blaming it on the 3rd party that the company "just started using" however she was quick to argue each issue and never once apologized for the misunderstanding or inconvenience. My husband and I had a spot here for 2 years, paid faithfully via automatic debit and only visited 3 or 4 times. This week, we decided to clear the space out. We came up on a Wednesday and stayed overnight (we live in DC now) to give ourselves plenty of time. On Wednesday, the owner told us not to dump "anything big, like furniture" or he would have to charge us to haul it away. No problem, we made sure to donate anything large, and even trailer-packed a small chair that we wanted to dispose of, just so we wouldn't run afoul of this "rule." As we were dumping our last bag of trash in the Dumpster, we were confronted by the owner, who told us that he would be charging us $85 for "filling up the Dumpster." We had not done so, but we probably had filled it halfway full. We were confused, as we thought the prohibition only applied to large items, not how much we had filled the Dumpster with smaller items. (None of the previous storage spaces we had rented ever charged us for using their Dumpsters in any capacity, anyway.) My husband tried to negotiate with the owner-- and I told him that had we known, we would have gone to the dump ourselves-- but the owner told us that "all [he] knew" is that we would be "getting a bill for $85." After we finished cleaning up, my husband went into the office to speak with him, but only his wife was present. My husband asked her to show him where in our contract it said that we would have to pay $85 for "filling up a Dumpster." She said that it was NOT in the contract, but that they had added a rider to that effect, recently. My husband naturally refused to sign it at that point and we left. The next day, we saw that the $85 had been automatically debited from our bank account without our permission. We are now in the process of disputing the charge. I can unequivocally state that no one should do business with these people in any capacity. This was one of my worst so-called "customer service" experiences ever. read more

Cheap, convenient, and what my wife would call "kitschy" - I never had any issues w/security, cleanliness, or management. Plus they offered me a free month of storage - better than going with the bigger places that keep jacking rates up. read more

On move in day, the experience was great. The women at the front were friendly, the unit was good enough. HOWEVER, since then, the manager, BILL, has completed changed my mind of this establishment. He is rude, accusatory, aggressive..etc etc. I would never recommend renting at Salisbury Storage Warehouse, and BILL is 100% the reason. read more
