I've only been to a chiropractor once in my life, around 20 years ago, in the Seattle area, and it…read morewas a positive experience (she got rid of a terrible crick in my neck in one session. I had been in pain for a month beforehand. I was amazed, it was like magic that she "fixed" me - and did so so fast!). Despite this, I've never returned to any chiropractor, despite all my minor aches and pains as I've gotten older. I've read a few bad articles about serious damage done by chiropractors and, to be honest, I'm not really a "holistic-oriented" naturopath-oriented kind of person. I totally believe it works for many people, but I personally was raised with Western science-based medical system (for good or bad).
To be honest, I'm also a horrible patient. I don't like "stuff" being done to me, when I'm not in control. And I certainly don't like hearing noises (like loud cracks and pops!!!) when my limbs and neck and joints are tugged! No way.
That said, if one is in enough pain and distress, one will consider any option to get rid of the pain. Such is the predicament I found myself in recently. I tried to treat myself for months with all sorts of meds and heat and cold patches and various rubs and creams and lotions and hot showers and cold baths and ice packs and heating pads and nothing was working on my issues. My friend here in Vancouver referred me to Dr. Frank Dudek here at this chiropractor clinic. (She and her family are heavily into fitness and sports. They own a running store, their kid is a serious track-and-field runner in college on scholarship, she herself has run for decades, and they, too, are not what you'd call naturopath-oriented people. Still, they swear by Dr. Dudek, have been going to him when needed for over a decade, and my friend says he's solely responsible for her still being able to run now). So that's quite the endorsement!
I've now been to Dr. Frank 5 or 6 times and, I have to say, it's helped me a lot. I don't like it, but I leave their office feeling better, for sure. The office itself is older and dated, but it's clean and there are 5 or 6 exam/treatment rooms. The receptionist (Nora) is super nice and efficient. The doctors here are super prompt; I've never had to wait for my appointment, Dr. Frank has never run late.
I see another reviewer commented that they tried to sell her on a health program granted, her review was in 2010), but in my case, nothing at all like this was done. Nobody here even mentioned any programs or subscriptions, and I didn't see any literature on that in the waiting room, so I don't think that's a thing here anymore, and who knows which doctor here she was seen by (there are a few).
There is no parking lot here but there is ample street parking.
I can't say enough about Dr. Frank. He's been a practicing chiropractor for 40-odd years and is as experienced as they come. Very nice man, approachable and relatable, too.
