We've eaten at Sally Tomatoes plenty of times and have always had a good experience. Our last experience was so great that it pushes this to a five star review. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner booked and ready to go, when the restaurant we had it booked with closed permanently and with no warning. And no phone call...we learned on Facebook that we better start looking for a new venue. We knew that Sally Tomatoes also does catering, so we called Gerard in a panic. Not only did he agree to cater our rehearsal dinner, but he did so at the last minute, with a great menu of chicken parm, a delicious penne pasta, Caesar salad and garlic bread. He did it for a super reasonable price, and he even delivered it to our rehearsal site, a good 30 minute drive from his restaurant. On a Friday night. I've had the pleasure of working with Sally Tomatoes on a number of occasions for various events both at their establishment and at other venues. With the line of work that I'm in, I work with many catering companies and have done so for 19 years. Most of the catering companies I've worked with over the years are average both in their food and service. Many times I find the staffing for these other catering companies have are not trained well and/or are rude or snooty. However, in my professional opinion in the service industry, Sally Tomatoes are extremely top notch. Their staff is not only professional but friendly, and that's extremely rare in this industry. Their food has always been fresh and prepared perfectly in my opinion. They have 2 owners as far as I know, however I've only had the pleasure of working with one of them directly, Bill Pettibone. Not only has Bill been extremely accommodating and professional to work with in coordinating these events we've done together, but he has a real fun personality that makes for a truly enjoyable working environment. Their restaurant / event center has always been clean and well furnished. They even have some entertainment options with darts, a pool table, live TV, etc... Actually I'd rate 3 1/2 stars due to our disappointment with the food. But no 1/2 stars allowed. This was our 2nd visit to Sally's. We came for the comedy the 1st time and didn't know we could dine before the show. So this time I checked out their menu but mistakenly didn't check the official Sally's website menu and thought they would have the regular fair. NOT. Instead, they only offered a burger buffet for $12.99. We came hungry and were disappointed in the cold meat and fries. Their staff really tried to accommodate us, as they toasted my husbands bread for him and brought nice hot fries to out table. They were perfect. So, next time we will call 1st and check for what their food plan is for that evening. The comedy was great. Steve Hofstetter was hilarious! Well worth the evening to go. But next time, we will call ahead for a heads-up on their menu. We will give it one more try. read more

Loved it... We have used their catering services for years with great results and tought we'd try the sit down version restaurant. I toke the wife and three kids there the other night...try somethin new...tired of Chucky Cheese. Great place to grab a bite, have drink, and hang out. Burgers were awesome...large in size and tasty...I dig their house made salad dressings..gosh cup cakes too.( 5 year old loved it) They had music..pools tables were buzzing with action..the bar was full of merry people( suprise suprise right??)..and the owners were chatting it up. A weird hideaway- pass board rooms and you finally land to your destination. It is a Grande space, with a fireplace at the end, a bit empty; definately not an intament setting. The service was friendly but the good was average. Tried the chicken wings and procuitto salad, which really was a take on carpaccio. The flavors of the salad were good, but nothing blew me away. Sallys tomatos catered a fund raiser in a building I run. Their team was attentive to the needs of the guests and worked hard the whole time. They had great attitudes and an even better work ethic. We originally planned to have an extra 4 hr day to reset the building, cleaning, sweeping, mopping, etc... These guys busted everything out so well that we called the extra day off. Sally Tomatoes catered my wedding last October at Hotel Petaluma. I would give 10 stars if I could. They did an absolutely fantastic job and went above and beyond. They not only catered wonderful food that everyone loved, but they basically did half of the planning for me, as I didn't really know what I was doing or even where to begin. They were super communicative throughout the whole process. It was not an easy task - there was no kitchen for them to work with at the hotel, and not even much of a space for them to set up, but they made it work. Sally Tomatoes catered my wedding in April, and they did a fantastic job! When I first contacted Gerard about pricing, I was pleasantly surprised, not only was the pricing very reasonable but I never once felt like I was getting a jacked up price simply because it was for a wedding. Gerard was always professional and very upfront about what I was getting with my per person cost and what would cost me more. We never got into exactly how much those extra things would cost me, but I always got the feeling that if i wanted to per-sue them he would be upfront about that as well. A quality that is extremely useful and valuable to a bride on a budget. No hidden fees there. He also walked me through the process, reviewed my contract with the rental company and never once made me feel like I was an inconvenience (despite being super indecisive on the menu). On the day itself, his team showed up on time and executed everything perfectly. The service was wonderful, they had a plate of hor's devours saved for the wedding party while we were taking pictures, and helped set up a take home plate for my new husband and myself. The food itself was scrumptious, the New York Steak received top marks. Even from the father of my best friend, a chef and employee at a top catering company in SF with very high standards on steak. I would just like to thank Sally Tomatoes and Gerard for all they have done during the fires , and in the midst of all the panic, communicate with my daughter who is getting married on Saturday, they are our vendor, and although we were concerned for all the evacuees , they have reassured us that all is well with the wedding, and really have bent over backwards to assure us. It's great to see a place that has good comedy in the area again. Just not sure this one is the best one for it. Location is odd but big deal there. Your in a old conference room that on a hot day like when I was the is stifling. No AC and all the doors where closed so no air flow. Chairs where completely uncomfortable and rickety. And don't go here thinking you'll be eating off any menu online. It was a buffet. The owner must have ties with Lagunitas or is just a big fan because out of about seven tap all but one where Lagunitas. I am not one of there fans. There is a full bar all be it limited as well. I really want to see comedy back in the area so I hope these issues are overcome so we can continue to see great shows like we did last night. read more

I have personally witnessed their business grow and become the success it is, not because they serve bad food or provide terrible service....no business can succeed if what they have to offer isn't worthy. The core values of this company are about meeting the customers needs and to support its community. They have provided their wonderful food to many functions that I have hosted. Anywhere from a lunch at my office, a Christmas party to my daughters wedding in 2010. I have had nothing but the greatest experience. Sally Tomatoes started out as a small catering service in downtown Cotati and have grown to be a valuable power partner with Codding Enterprises to help develop Sonoma Mountain Village, where we now can enjoy a awesome concert venue and a Marketplace. They have donated countless hours and food from the kindness of their hearts to support schools, non profits and families in need in our community, never asking for anything in return. Its just who they are. They volunteer their time to help make Rohnert Park a better place to want to live and visit. I highly recommend Sally Tomatoes to everyone I know. Stay away from music events. Bought VIP tickets to Buddy Guy and felt ripped-off. Seating was on risers off to the side, behind general admission!! FAQs say no chairs in VIP. Everyone snagged folding chairs from a rack and used them. If you payed attention to the FAQs you lost out. Since ST is a catering company I expected the food and beverage service to be well done. WRONG. Understaffed, unprepared, understocked and slow. 45 minute wait line for food and long lines for drink. Water was $3.00 and no place to re-fill a bottle. Once you buy your tickets they quit caring. Gates opened 40 minutes late and once opened, they were understaffed to carry out their assigned functions. Took forever to process each guest. For$116.oo each for VIP I certainly expected something a little more VIP. And the folks in general and reserved got screwed too! At least they ae consistent. read more

The girl who took my order and brought me my food was not friendly at all, I did not feel welcomed by any means. First of all, never met Sally any of the times I went there. They don't have any kind of costumed Sally or Tomato character to take pictures with, so that's a little disappointing. That said, it has a really great atmosphere. You can have a dining experience, bar experience or even a show experience. They catered my wedding and it was absolutely amazing! Andrew was great to work with. He was so on top of things. Gerard was also super nice to ya at the tasting. They had great communication with us always, helped so much in the planning process as I was planning without a wedding planner. Attended a function catered by Sally Tomatoes. I which I had a few spare tomatoes to throw at their chef or owner. I am surprised at the quality of stuff they try to pass to people as great catered food. Let's start with the salad. The two large bowls of salad which could have been a decent starter was disappointingly covered with a salad dressing which obviously is their "special recipe" since no one in the food service business, premade dressings, which are sold in large gallon jars, would make anything this watered down. It was like pouring milk over the what looked like decent fresh lettuce that gave up it's life to be enjoyed, was topped with their watered down Caesar dressing or the other salad that had some kind of watered down vinaigrette. Sad, because it could have been so easy to not "extend" the dressings. At least the salads were not pre-dressed, because that really would have been an disaster. The Chicken was probably prepared days in advance, and placed in a frost free refrigerator, because there could be no other way that anyone could cook chicken purposely to have it end of so dry, tasteless and quite frankly an abomination of a life of a chicken. Chicken does not have to be overcooked and dry, devoid of any trace of juiciness. Another reason why there are so many vegans today, it's because people waste chicken by cooking it so that it is inedible. Sitting at our table , we all looked at each other and notice that every person sitting there , who had taken the chicken from the line had cut off a piece tasted it and sent it back on the plate never eaten...What a waste of a perfectly good chicken.Sad... We all tired to guess how someone could prepare chicken in such a way, the winning idea at the table was that the chef, simply forgot that the chicken was in the oven and let it "roast" there while he went on a shopping trip to Costco to purchase the salad dressing which he miraculously makes into 5 gallons. The asparagus was cooked properly, blanched and served with plain mayo, you would think that they would whip up an aioli or add some herbs to the mayo....nope. Should have used the mayo to moisten the chicken. The potatoes were ok, the bread was stale, at least my piece was, I mentioned it to one of the other people sitting at the table and they said that their first roll was ok, but the 2nd one stale. So I guess the philosophy is to serve whats left from the last catering job, to the patrons at the next. The other side dish was some kind of beans with something swirled , I opted for none , they were also cutting what looked like over cooked beef that had all the flavor and moisture cooked out of it hours or days before. It's too bad that there are caterers around like this, that just provide the minimum meal, and I am sure that no matter how much the price per person rate was, their chef continues to put out mediocre food simply because they don't care. And it shows. I have been to other function where even low cost meals, chicken, potatoes and salads although spartan , still have decent flavor and are savory and edible with some sense of enjoyment. Here I felt sorry for the sacrificial chicken..... The funny thing the amount of reviews that have 5 stars. 5 stars meaning that the food is as good as it gets? Really? If so, they I feel saddened for indeed those people will never know how really well prepared food tastes like. read more

$7.00 for a caesar salad that's nothing more than lettuce, a few croutons and some dressing? That's crazy! And he justifies the price by saying it's "organic" and such. That's just a false reason to charge higher prices, because the quality isn't really there. And their new burgers? They're all bun! For $9.00 how about some meat instead? Over-priced, over-hyped, marginal quality. Also, one of the owners makes his political leanings well known (he does have a right to free speech, of course), but he is exceptionally intolerant of those with dissenting opinions. I wonder who decided to flat top our burgers (where who knows) when we paid for on site BBQ, this was a big disappointment at the company picnic and salad was 1/4 head of iceberg lettuce with a few sprinkles on it of cheese and bacon bits what a pain to eat we just cut into pieces so we could eat it (why didn't they just cut it). Cheese was good but the knife was so small you couldn't cut it. We told them we want BBQ and paid $14.00 a head for warm burgers cooked where? When? This gives catering a bad name and you should be ashamed of yourselves. $14.00 ahead for Hotdogs and flat top burgers, give me a break if anyone ever asks about a caterer I will tell them NOT SALLY TOMATOES! We did ask what happened to the BBQ and NO ONE would claim responsibility. And the BBQ was sitting right next to the table never even lit up! read more
