This was a very nice venue for our private luncheon for approximately 75-100 people. There were 3 separate private parties going on at the same time, and Sally Tomatoes provided the buffet lunch for our event. The buffet was very good, with roast beef with horseradish, grilled chicken with a cream mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables, green salad and rolls. A chocolate brownie cake was served for dessert, however, i didn't try it. The setting was warm and elegant with the round tables and black tablecloths. A stage was set up to announce special awards and to honor our fallen and those we lost in the last year. It is pretty certain that the reunion luncheon will continue to be held a Sally Tomatoes, and they have never let us down. read more

I ordered some dishes here for my daughter's 8th grade promotion party. Party is on Saturday but pick up on that day isn't available so I had to pick it up the day before and heat it up the next day. Pick up is a little challenging because they don't answer their phone so I couldn't ask if I should park on the yellow or not. Second, when I walk in there was no one their to greet you or a bell to know if someone was there waiting. There was a group of people sitting down, looks like they're food tasting the owner is one of them. He took awhile to acknowledge me but he saw me walk in. Then proceeded to ask if someone is helping me (not very friendly), no sir, you saw me walk in a bit ago. They need a bell to let know a customer is waiting. EXCELLENT We used Sally Tomatoes to cater our wedding and they were great from start to finish. Super easy to work with and really accommodating with the various dietary restrictions we had. The food quality was exceptional -- we had a ton of guests specifically rave about the scalloped potatoes! Their staff was professional, friendly, and kept everything running smoothly. I like the fact there is an event center so close to home. The outdoor area is lovely. On my latest visit I was here for a musical tribute. Unfortunately it was super stuffy inside- installing fans would definitely improve that. We planned to order food but when we saw people sitting at the same table where the buffet food was served, we turned right around. I don't think that fits any food & safety guidelines with people breathing over the buffet food. Although this was a benefit, I think that charging $12 for a small plastic glass of wine was exorbitant. We moved outside quite a bit as the acoustics were so bad we needed to yell at each other to hear- I had a sore throat later due to that. I ended up hanging out on a bench in a garden under a redwood tree to enjoy fresh air & quiet. I do appreciate Sally Tomatoes hosting this musical benefit. read more

In January 2024, we tragically lost my son, and we chose Sally Tomatoes, Catering, and Events to hold his celebration of life. My friend and I met with Gerard to go over all the details we wanted, signed a contract, and put down a deposit. Soon after, we received a call from Sally Tomatoes saying that my son's partner's mother had paid a deposit and we were to come get our deposit check back. We assumed because they had control over my son's GoFundMe, that they just paid it out of that and gave back our deposit to us. When we arrived for the celebration, we were informed that we were no longer in charge. The menu had been changed, and many things were deleted without our knowledge or consent. Apparently, Sally Tomatoes allowed someone to come in without permission from the person who signed the original contract and created a new one. We believe this to be fraudulent. We tried to resolve this issue with Andrew and Gerard, but they were uncooperative. It's a shame because we wanted to ensure this never happens to someone else. Unfortunately, due to their lack of response, we felt compelled to write a review. Because of all this, we would never recommend or ever use Sally Tomatoes, Catering, and Events again. read more

I'm so torn on this place. It's out in the middle of nowhere so it has to be worth the drive. We've been to several events at SOMO village but I've only eaten at the restaurant twice. Both times our food has been "fine" or unimpressive. But. The venue is beautiful, service has been fantastic and the events were enjoyable. (Music night, comedy night) Torn. Wings: great heat in the very tasty sauce but skin not crispy at all. Truffle fries were perfect as is Chips and onion dip: I liked the dip but only 1/3 of the "chips" were crispy while the other 2/3 ate more soft-but-having-sat-around for a few hours. Beet salad was ...ok. Hmm. Crispy salmon, creamed spinach and smashed potatoes - Hubby enjoyed every bite. No pics but my group also ordered Cajun chicken Alfredo and the chicken mattone. Both said it was "fine" but probably wouldn't order it again. I tried a piece of the chicken from the alfredo and it was definitely spiced well, though overall quite salty. (I liked the sausage even more.) So again. Torn. We will definitely keep going back for the events. Truly, they've got all the makings to be an amazing destiination but have a little tweaks that needs fine tuning. read more

UPDATE: I sent essentially this same review to Sally tomatoes to let them know how disappointing the brunch was for me and many other customers. As a business owner myself, I was shocked by the response from the owner of this business regarding my experience on Mother's Day. Please see the photo of the screenshot of his response to me. Worst Mothers Day Brunch ever! We had 1:30 PM reservations and we're finally seated at 1:45 even though half of the outdoor area and half of the indoor area were empty and available for us. When we were finally seated bacon was nonexistent and they had no more, I got three shrimp and when I came back for seconds, they said there was no more, and all of the food in the chafing dishes were room temperature. I was super excited for eggs Benedict, but room temperature eggs Benedict is not appealing and I was not happy to eat this. All of the chafing dishes came out cool so therefore the one burner sterno could not heat them up. The whole experience was horrid and I definitely will not be back. 15 minutes after being suited, they were already breaking down the buffet as my photos show. read more

This was my first time attending a Mother's Day buffet, and I absolutely loved the no-wait aspect for the food. My parents enjoyed the mimosas, and I would definitely consider doing this again next year if it's offered. The price was reasonable for everything provided. Here for a memorial gathering. Acoustics are horrible for a music event. Drinks are 12 dollars! Whether it's a beer, glass of wine or a mixed drink. Ridiculous! Glad to pay the entry as it benefits music programs but not for the cost of the drinks nor the "buffet". Which cost additionally and was open where people where sitting in front of all the salads!! i want to eat salad not what people are breathing on them!! Also install fans over head. The smell in the room where everyone is dancing is horrible! A teenage boys locker room smells better! Oh and speakers in the bar area and outside so the music can be heard there! If you can't stand nor stand the smell where the band is playing then you are out of luck. read more

We attended a banquet this weekend catered by and at Sally Tomatoes. The food was outstanding! The Fresh carved roast beef au jus was delicious. Two different salads, chicken Marsala and the Sicilian olive pesto was excellent paired with grilled flatbread. My mouth is watering as I write this a couple days later. The servers were great about picking up used dishes off our tables. Made it nice to enjoy desert and coffee at the end. We've been supporters of Sally Tomatoes for years. They catered our wedding, we've had work events there, attended Freshtival and during the pandemic loved their family meal service. After reading rave reviews of their Mother's Day brunch on Facebook, we decided to try it out this year. Disappointed is putting it lightly. When checking in, the host was unfriendly and barking orders at staff. The young lady who took us to our table seemed rushed and unsure where to go. Our table was poorly bussed and blandly decorated. But we were there for the food and good company, so can overlook the lack of decor and table cleanliness understanding that it was a busy day. First thing we noticed was the line for drinks. Clearly not enough bartenders for the amount of people. Nothing against the bartenders, they were both lovely, but clearly stressed. I was surprised that they didn't have a better system in place. And given that many families had kids, why wasn't there juice easily available? It took 15 minutes of standing in line to get our drinks. Food lines were short and easy to navigate. However, food was cold and pastries picked over and sad looking. Eggs Benedict had great flavor, but cold. Potatoes, cold. Eggs, cold. Carved meat station was nice, but stingy on the slices. Ran out of bacon. Also, salt and pepper shakers on the tables were gross. Had to bang the salt on the table in order to get it out. Ice cream was a hit with the kids, but melted and ice cream scoopers sticky. My husband wrote a comment about our experience on one of their Facebook posts. He was promptly blocked. A simple apology for our less than satisfactory experience and a promise to do better next time would have been sufficient. Also, it's clear that some of these Yelp reviews are fake. I'm sure some had a great experience (probably the earlier seatings), but the later seatings did not get the same treatment. I was surprised given that this is an event that they've done previously. I expected more and was greatly disappointed. And based on the owner's response to criticism, we will not be returning to this establishment. read more

They also turn off comments on event postings after people leave negative comments. Not a good look Sally Tomatoes! A good local establishment should be looking to regain those of us who spend our hard earned money at their events, I'll never attend another one that's for sure! The Mother's Day Brunch was not what we expected! The staff seemed overwhelmed and the food was cold at the 12:30 seating. The containers of ice cream were melting at the desert table and the surrounding scoopers and toppings were a mess. Storage room doors were wide open and the mess inside was visible to customers. We had to walk through people lined up for drinks to get to the food. The setup was inconvenient not to mention the lines to order a drink! The recent Yelp reviews seem staged by ownership and to good to be true unless the early morning seatings were spectacular compared to those of us arriving after 12! Had brunch with a friend today at this spot. It was a bit hard to find and not right in town. They have a nice back patio with big trees for shade which was nice on such a hot day. The brunch menu didn't have tons of choices. The food was good, but I would also say it really wasn't super special, something you could get lots of places. I did love the bottomless mimosa option where you could pick pineapple, cranberry or orange and even switch it up. It was fine, but not sure it's a place I'd rush back to eat brunch again. read more

For the foodie looking for new bites, the dining menu offers a selection for all types of particular diets, and the bar provides a selection of local craft drinks, wines and cocktails. I was excited to try a new place for Mother's Day brunch. I left disappointed and embarrassed that I brought my mom here. At the start, the person checking people in barely acknowledged me...didn't say "Welcome" or "Happy Mother's Day." He seemed overwhelmed and frustrated. He was snapping and barking orders at his staff. He sent us off with a server who took us to the only table outside that was left in the shade and needed to be bussed. Nobody explained to us how to get plates. You stand in a really long line at the bar (even though we didn't want any alcohol) and you pay for your plates. Our reservation was at 1 pm. They already ran out of bacon, and I could see why...it was probably the best thing there. The food was mostly cold. The eggs Benedict looked nice but were soggy and tasted like they had sat for a while. The only somewhat decent thing was the ice cream sundae bar. Of course, the ice cream was nearly melted and the scoops sat in this hot soupy croc. I kept apologizing to my parents and husband for picking the "wrong" place. We nearly walked out but wondered if we would be able to get in anywhere else. I've eaten at other Mother's Day brunch buffets. I think the more successful ones have actual servers who bring you plates, fill your drink, and check on you. I thought that as a professional caterer, this place would have buffets down. The food is always good One time at an event that was buffet style dining the food wasn't the best and some food was cold that shouldn't have been but that was one time and like I said I have been here many times. We came for all you can eat wings. Got there a little bit an a hour after it started. We were able to get 6 wings total. We assumed that they will bring more out... we waited and heard people saying they ran out out of wings and they brought out chicken tenders instead. It would have been nice if we were told that when we first got there. We would have not stayed knowing we will pay for full price for supposedly "all you can eat wings" and ended up getting 6 pcs of wings.. Very disappointed! read more

Was really really excited to come here. Not often do I get time off in time to take my son out or have extra money to do so, but tonight I did. I say I WANTED to like it but it was very underwhelming. Looks incredibly beautiful inside. Plenty of room. Lots of tables. Full bar. I was excited and so was my son. (Almost 12 yo boy) So... walk in with the kiddo and wait at the podium. 6 people are standing around. (It's 5:45p and 2 men at the bar) 5 minutes go by no one says anything. I wave, they look, 10 min go by and a young male server bounces out to help us as everyone else runs to the back. Definitely felt like no one wanted to work and didn't care we were there. That happens but I was still excited to be out with my son. Server asks for drink order. I ask about what's on tap. He mentions a sour IPA. I asked if they could make a michelada with the sour beer. He asks the bar tender who was sitting in the kitchen area then confirms they can. I run to the restroom to wash up. I return and it's just the beer. So I'm let down. I wait for the server but two others come in. The bar tender comes over a little upset and asks why I looked like the drink was wrong. I explained I ordered a michelada with the sour beer vs regular beer. He said, "oh, we've been out of tomato juice so I cant" (why did you tell the server you could?) so he wants to get a different drink. I ask for a Tito's cosmo. A cosmopolitan martini with Tito's. I can clearly see the bar and he used the bottom shelf stuff. I really rolled my eyes. Tasted gross and I left it alone. We order. My son gets fries and I ordered the Asian nachos minus any picked jalapeño or pickled radish. Very little description so no idea what Asian nachos where but sounded ok. Food comes. Fries are great. But who can mess up a huge bowl of fries. As for mine, pickled radish is on there. They are also sweet potato chips. No cheese. Random bits of green things. I had ordered chicken on it too. Chicken was EXTREMELY hot and super hard to chew... so it was microwaved. But either way- I barely choked down a chip. I NEVER send food back. Never. Even when my son doesn't like it, I tell him that he should have specified what he wanted. I did specify it. I wave the server down and tell him I can't eat it. The chicken was not cooked today and was microwaved. (It was cut prior to re-heating) the radishes were still on there. He apologized and said he would take it off. We order finally (an hour after seating and 70 min after arrival). Now 4 people at one table. 4 at the bar and two at my table. Not busy at all. Son orders basic cheeseburger. I get the baseball steak medium. It's more medium rare so I only eat the outsides. Sons hamburger is again microwaved not fresh. He eats 1/4 and then can't anymore. My steak is ok. Had a red wine shallot butter. Looked like a block of cat vomit. I almost threw up. Thank god I asked what it was. It melted and tasted ok but looked horrible. Food was good. Not amazing. Check came, still was charged for the appetizer I had to send back and the drink that I also said I didn't want. Events We often go here for comedy nights... every Tuesday and some Fridays or Saturdays with featured comics. The Tuesday comedy shows are free with a required (recommended?) two order minimum (I typically don't make this minimum). Tuesday's show has 5-6 comics for about 10-15 minutes each and a longer final session. The comics vary in ability... some are hilarious and others are repeated comics with the same material that wasn't funny the first time. About twice a year they have an event called "So your friends think you're funny?" An amateur comedy competition. The candidates get five minutes on stage and then a panel of judges critiques them. Audience gets to vote for their favorite comic in the end. This event is fun because you get to hear some new funny folks, you don't have to listen to unfunny folks for too long, and you get a bit of a lesson in stand-up from listening to the judges' feedback. They advertise other events, too, like paint night! That is on my list to try! Every year my department at work also has our end of the year celebration here. They have a nice stage for giving talks/ awards. We usually order a pasta buffet with salad. It's okay, fairly typical pasta. Food In terms of food, the menu offers a variety of offerings. Much of the food is fairly typical of what you'd expect from a primarily catering/ banquet restaurant. We've tried the roasted Brussels sprouts and the Thai nachos. Both were hits. We were also at an event here with the chamber of commerce. For this event, they had bites carried around the room. Some were very tasty, others I could leave. Bites included buffalo wings, teriyaki chicken, tuna tartar on a wonton crisp, Parmesan lettuce cups. Probably the worst food I've had in yeas. Signed up for VIP dinner and show. The menus online offered barbecued chicken. What was actually served was extremely dry, salty lasagna and pasty chicken parmigiana so heavily breaded that it was hard to find the chicken. No vegetables were offered. It was awful. Swanson's frozen dinners are more moist and tasty!!!! I inquired about the change of menu from what was listed online and the Maître d' said, "The owner made the decision to serve "Italian food" instead and didn't tell him so her couldn't change the website. I ate soggy salad because I can't eat wheat products. Awful food, thrown together at the last minute, dry, cold slop. read more
