Nice stop to break the drive between Sicamous and Revelstoke, and to take in a bit of history…read more The last spike is the place where the final spike was driven into the CP railroad, completing the rail connection in Canada from coast to coast. The actual spike has been removed and is on display in a museum in Ottawa. I didn't catch the name of the museum when the gift shop staff told me. Something about design and technology? Anyway, there's a marker to indicate the actual location. There's a faint "109" painted on the rail track. There's also another monument in revelstoke train museum and this is an offshoot of it. It's run by the museum. The gift shop is lovely. You can get postcards and various souvenirs. You will also learn how to pronounce "Craigellachie" (Craig - Ella - Key) in there. If you like crystals, they are very decently priced compared to other crystals or stones shops in Vancouver. We sat at the side of the gift shop which was shaded and had a lovely view of the Eagle River. Very calming and relaxing. There are also washrooms here and benches to rest.

Great stop to stretch your legs, get a little history in, and use a washroom…read more I'm not much of a train person myself but I am all aboard about the cleanliness of the washrooms and the grounds. Plenty of parking even for buses and large RVs.

The Last Spike - Follow the line of sight of the marker. I believe there is 109 on it. That's the last spike location.

We drove up to Vernon to watch a Murder Mystery Dinner Show at this ranch. Since we were there…read moreearly and there was nothing to do, we decided to check out the farm animals they had. Much to our surprise, they didn't look anything like your average farm animal. Some chickens had plumes on the top of their head, making them look like they had a bad hair day; some had furry feet. The rams had four horns that looped around the side of their heads. They also had a dozen colorful birds. After a tour of the farm, we went back to the restaurant where the show was about to start. As the story went on, we were guided to different parts of the ranch. It wasn't a far walk, and the actors, though funny, were convincing. We headed back to the restaurant where we were seated with a few people we didn't know. Many people from Kelowna are friendly, so we didn't mind. Clues were passed around so we can guess who the murderer was, write it on a piece of paper and submit it for drawing. Before they revealed the murderer, we feasted on a buffet dinner, complete with an array of salads, veggie sides, prime rib, and desserts. When we were done, they revealed the murderer. The funniest part was reading what people have submitted for drawing. The first one who got it right got a CAD 50 gift card to the O'Keefe Ranch Gift Shop. You can't beat 50 bucks a person for both the show and dinner*! The show and dinner is only scheduled twice a year. Check their website calendar.
