I love this park! It's big, open, and has so much to do. There are tennis courts, basketball…read morecourts, a pool, walking paths, and tons of space for picnics under mature shade trees. The trees make it feel relaxing and cool even in the summer. They also host community events here, like free gentle yoga in the park, which adds such a nice neighborhood vibe. It feels both peaceful and lively at the same time. The playground is large and space-themed, with climbing structures, multiple slides, swings (including toddler swings), a merry-go-round, and different areas for different ages. It's big enough that kids can stay busy for a while. The lake adds a really calming touch -- ducks, benches, fishing spots, and a paved path around it that's great for walking or casual biking. It's also good for dogs (on leash), especially during quieter weekday mornings. Best time to go is weekday mornings if you want it peaceful. Weekends can get crowded, especially mid-day, but that just shows how loved it is. Parking is street parking around the park -- usually fine on weekdays but can take a minute during busy times. There are public restrooms available -- standard city park bathrooms, functional but better earlier in the day. Overall, it's a relaxing but fun park with something for everyone. One of my favorite spots in Sacramento.

First, I went to the women's bathroom stall and it was dark inside with no lighting and wet all over the ground. It was slightly dirty, though, the outside pink building was beautiful. Thankfully, the event offered porta-potties, which were much cleaner than the actual bathroom stall. Most parks offer complimentary parking. This park charges for parking and the rates are as follows: $2.00 per hour or $7.00 for an all-day pass. The park provides a big pond area with a good handful of ducks. There is also a playground available for children's leisure and entertainment. Lastly, there are "exercise stations" placed throughout the park, which encourage more physical activity. Overall, it was a peaceful, beautiful, and spacious park.

We had another wonderful outing with Al and his deckhand Chris (who also happens to be Al's…read moregrandson). We went to New Melones Lake and caught 13 very nice Kokanee salmon. We actually hooked 18 total but lost 5 while reeling them in. This was even more fish than we caught at Lake Berryessa when we went with Al 3 years ago. Al and Chris are both very experienced fishermen. They have high-end equipment and know exactly the types of lures, bait, and techniques to use. Our boat was catching way more fish than any other boat out there. Al knows all the lakes and rivers in Northern California like the back of his hand. This knowledge is critical since the fishing on each lake changes weekly, if not daily. I had booked this trip weeks ago with Sue, and we decided on New Lake Melones just a few days before based on the recent trends. And Chris was excellent with my 10 and 12-year old sons. He was very patient with my kids. And he gave us some ideas on other fun outdoor things to do. And he even brought them (and introduced us to) a Tony's Chocolate bar. I highly recommend Kokanee salmon fishing with Al and Chris. And I would suggest requesting Chris as a deckhand especially if you have young kids. My sons had a blast. And they've been proudly eating the fish they caught, which we've been smoking and grilling. Thank you Al, Sue, and Chris for giving my sons an unforgettable fishing experience!

I wanted to share the experience I had with Diamond Sportfishing and Captain Kyle! WOW! We…read moregathered at the dock super early and although we thought it was early, Captain Kyle was up and at'm ready to fish! He said we were in for an adventure. The great thing about DSF is that they provide all the gear necessary for your catch. We were going out for Tuna as Bluefin are now found in the waters off the west coast, we were all pretty excited to go fishing. All we brought with us was food and drinks, having everything else included was a bonus. In the event we caught anything, they'll cut, clean, gill and give us fillets. The boat ride was awesome, no one got seasick thank goodness, there's ample seating inside and out. It was super foggy in the early morning, but cleared up by the time we started. I've not been on a fishing boat prior to this trip, and I was blown away at how scenic and beautiful the water was out there. The bright sunshine gave the water a super bright blue appearance, it was cool. Captain Kyle and his deckhand got everyone rigged up and ready to fish. The Captain is youthful and took his time answering questions and giving advice. His mixture of humor and knowledge of where the fish were was certainly a bonus because as soon as lines were in the water we heard, " Fish On!" That first Tuna took everyone on board including my son Parker to reel it in ( Posted Picture). What a freaking rush. It was exciting watching as everyone reeled something in on the boat. We laughed, joked and had such a fun day out on the water with friends. On our way back in to harbor the Captain pointed out several whale pods swimming around the boat, it was a trip seeing them jump. We enjoyed our lunch and talked about who caught the biggest tuna. In all honesty, that first one was the biggest in my book. I can't say enough great things about Captain Kyle and his Diamond Sport Fishing. Reservations were easy as charters go out practically daily either 1/2 or full days. The waters off of California are changing, getting warmer, they're seeing Bluefin Tuna and Marlin so who knows, maybe our next trip we'll catch something epic! Overall Impression: A+
