My wife recently went there and was TOTALLY, TOTALLY, TOTALLY, DISGUSTED. The owner supposed knew exactly what she wanted to be done but cut her hair too short and Totally screwed up the color to the point she does not want to even leave the house. To make matter worse they quoted her a price of $175.00 but wound up charging her $277.00 which included a $40 tip. Needless to say she will never be back or recommend them to anyone. She did not want to post a review, but I told her that I would so maybe it would keep someone else from getting their hair screwed up. read more

As excellent of an experience at a salon as I've ever had. Doug somehow managed to exceed the lofty expectations which brought me in to see him at Salon Beyond Basics in the first place. In addition to giving me a great cut, he was extremely generous with his time and expertise in helping me craft a new look and teaching me how to maintain it. Doug has since followed up to make sure I'm happy with the cut and to help me find the right products as well as identify a local contact (NYC) who can maintain it until I have the chance to get back down to NC to see him again, which I'm looking forward to. I came to this salon from Raleigh, and will definitely come back. Meghan cut my cury hair using the deva technique and I love it. I was skeptical at first, because is cut dry instead of wet. Having moved from So Cal I had tried another salon close to my house, which was ok, but coming from a salon that included the most amazing head, neck, and shoulder massage I had high expectations. A friend recommended Bethany to cut my hair and she did a fabulous job. I showed her pictures of cuts that I wanted and she really listened. I was very pleased with her technique and got a lot of compliments. I also got a facial done by Carole in the spa. She did a wonderful job as well. this was my first visit to the salon and had a wonderful experience. michael cut my hair and he truly is an artist with hair. michael spent time with me before the cut, asking me questions about how i like to care for my hair; a lot of time and products etc.. UPDATE: i went to have michael cut my hair again (2nd visit) for $60.00 and had a terrible cut. michael talks so much during my appointment that he has a hard time paying attention to my hair. i had a question and he just kept talking and talking. i left with a style that would be good if i was going to a costume party!! i will definitely not be going back again. it's sad because if he would pay attention to my cut, he'd be a great stylist. read more

Anna was the worst! She started out good, took her time to ask me what I wanted and did quality work. But as time went on she became more and more lackadaisical and began to do things to my hair that she knew never should've been done because of the type of hair I have. She overprocessed my hair which caused so much breakage I had to have lots cut off. The salon made excuses for her saying it was personal reasons in her own life. But that's no excuse for ruining someone's hair. Take some time off if your life is that difficult. The salon also lied to me about something very important. The owner is ultimately responsible for his employees integrity. The lying is even worse than an incompetent hairstylist. read more

Sorry but Ashlee ruined my hair - I have been searching for a salon since moving here over a year ago and my experiences have gone from bad to worse!! The color is fake looking and not what I wanted and the hair cut is choppy and uneven - Wish I would have figured this out before I left - would never have paid for it!! The best salon experience EVER! I called on Tuesday to get an appointment, and had no clue who any of the stylists in the salon were. My appointment was for Wednesday afternoon...unfortunately my stylist became sick and had to leave. The salon owner didn't want a new client to have to reschedule, so he took matters into his own hands and gave me royal treatment! He had a team of people give their opinions on my hair and what should be done (I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted). The salon staff was incredibly nice, too! As the owner, Kendall, was styling my hair, a fellow stylist mentioned that I looked ready to be a Victoria's Secret model! It was the best salon experience, even considering the fact that my original stylist wasn't who I ended up with! I will definitely be going back. :) read more
