I have been going to Salon Delucca for close to 35 years. I have been there through all my ups and downs and through laughter and tears. My hair has been this color and that color and we try it long and try it short. It is home away from home. I will see Lisa until she decides to retire some day, if her customers let her...David has added a wonderful fresh flavor for the last, what ? 2 or 3 years now. Believe it or not, going there is even better when he is there working at the same time. Oh, we have such vibriant conversations filled with joy.. Although I do miss the other ladies that worked there.... I watched them grow up and go off on their own... Oh my, I forgot to say both Lisa and David are at the top of their craft.. they both seem to know exactly what someone wants their hair to be cut and styled like before the words are out of our mouths. I had been looking for years to find a hairdresser who would cut my hair in the style I wanted. A nice lady from Bainbridge Island suggested David and I contacted him that same day. Needless to say I am still one of his most loyal fans, even driving from Port Orchard because there is no one I trust so completely. Not only is he a brilliant hair stylist, he is fun to be around and has become a dear friend. A bonus in visiting Salon DeLuca is that I also get to visit with Lisa who is adorable and so friendly. Before, when I lived in Port Townsend, I only had my hair professionally coifed twice. I recommend a consultation with Lisa for your hair care needs. Lisa was able to talk me off the ledge about chopping all my hair off one afternoon post break up. She suggested a bright and cheery new to me hair color. I wore my hair in that same color for a few afternoons. I changed the hair color back after a few days because of some of the nastier comments I was getting from the locals who are senior citizens. I recommend taking a look at a few fashion magazines or bring a picture of the hairstyle(s) you are considering. Lisa had a problem with scheduling one afternoon... so I called to confirm my appointment at a different time. I thought it was because of her kid... it wasn't apparently Carl had gotten into something he shouldn't have... again. I wonder how Carl is doing now. Also,... Lisa will wash your hair and maybe give you a gloss treatment if you need one. I asked about special hairstyles for functions and parties while I was there so you'll know before you go. Lisa can do a few special hairstyles.... just request one a few hours before you need it done. I recommend making your appointment for before 4:30 PM as there are more appointments available earlier in the day or afternoon. I like the way the salon was set up before about 2000. I'm not sure what it looks like inside now though. I have recommended Lisa's skill set to many of my former friends who wanted a quick fix for their haircutting woes (or problems). I went to a hair appointment in September. It was a little disorganized when I showed up early. It was like they could not find my appointment. I am not sure if a previous stylist went to another salon recently. But then they had a hair stylist for me. Anyway, I ended up having to wait over an hour for my hair appointment to start. The previous client appointment --her really dark hair was not turning blonde (ombre), and it took longer to do her hair appointment. I had been to another hair salon in that did not take enough time on my brown hair the previous June on a balayage. I was so impressed that this hair salon cared about her appointment. And then when it was finally my appointment, this salon delivered with a partial foil and gave me a discount on my haircut because I had to wait for my hair appointment to start. It has been fun having blond in my dark brown hair. I am a fan of this salon. There is not really a receptionist. It is like the hair stylists are independent contractors. They take only cash or check. This hair salon would just need to work on being more organized. read more

Lisa is a brilliant artist. Be it using her scissors or concocting color for your hair, you are in the highly competent hands of a true genius. I, umm, had a wee bit of grays to cover. Additionally, a very bad die job that was growing out. Most of my hair was darker than my substantial roots with the grey. Lisa managed to bring me to my normal auburn with natural red highlights while also covering my grey. Sheer brilliance! (Pun intended) The cut was what I had been missing for far too long. My longtime stylist in Los Angeles being a bit too far away, I've struggled to find someone who understands how to cut my hair. A fancy NYC stylist butchered my hair. It's taken four years to grow out. I have a lot of thin hair that is alternately straight, frizzy and curly. Of late, it's been getting straighter. And thinner. Both of which make me mourn for my thick mass of waves of just two years ago. But with Lisa's expert layers - I have more curl than I've had in two years! Layers are not easy; it takes an artistic hand to wield the scissors in such a way that is customized to your hair and face. Lisa did it. Cut and color. I can't recommend her highly enough. Juliet has done my hair several times. Everytime perfect and just what I wanted. Including a dramatic bang. Wish I could afford getting my hair done, it's just no longer in the budget. If I remember correctly I'm not sure Juliet has room to take more clients which is a bummer because she's amazing and fun but also tells true to how wanted she is. Not enough Juliet to go around. Besides this, the other stylists are just as fun and pleasant so you won't be disappointed. read more

Far from posh. I suppose they are trying to be Bo-Ho chic but it misses the mark as far as decorating goes. It just looks like Dumpster Decor from the tacky manikin reclining in a mock sun bathing scene in the front window to the worn interior. I got there early so no problem waiting. Two of the stylists were talking about how the place was haunted and they had to get a Ghost Busters team in to check it out. Small wonder. The decapitated window manikin is enough to keep the dead from resting. My stylist was prompt. When I got to the washing she over did it with product. I take great pains not to dry my hair out with harsh products or hot dryers. She did both. My scalp literally burned for hours afterward. My hair is not laundry or dishes it doesn't need to be sterilized. Since it was my first time there I asked for something simple...a few inches off the bottom that was it. Nothing hard. I got charged $50 bucks for that. I guess because of the well thought out tacky decor and the harsh hair treatment prior. Not going back. read more

I really dread haircuts, so when I finally got the courage to make an appointment it was a really big deal. Called Salon Delucca after a recommendation from a friend, and David was able to schedule me in for a next day appointment with him! David listened to all my concerns about wanting to keep the feel of my very long hair while taking enough off to get layers and a refreshing new look! He used what was obviously a lot of experience and knowledge to give me options that would help me achieve the style. He was professional and put me at ease. He also paid close attention to detail during the cut, with great time management. The whole staff was friendly and involved. I came in nervous and prepared for the post cut regret. I left relaxed and overjoyed with the cut that fit me better than I would have imagined! Great atmosphere! Great cut! read more

I am new to Port Townsend and we all know it is hard to find a great stylist. I have been doing my hair dark brown with red and that is really scary because you don't want to end up with "maroon" or "orange". I looked on Yelp and there is not a lot of reviews so I decided to just go for it with Salon Delucca as they seemed to me to have the most passion about hair and makeup based on what is available on Yelp. I got an appointment with David who is available in the evening and is new to Port Townsend and hence the salon. David is great! He is friendly and more importantly gave me the perfect "red" color without me knowing previous product line etc. I will be back to David for sure. read more

Very disappointed. I hadn't got my hair cut in 7 years and heard great things but didn't get anything of what I wanted sadly. My hair was MUCH too short and when I wanted a brow wax she didn't wax anything but two hair's and charged me full price. Sadly I will never go back. read more

Definitely worth a visit and your time!!! I have tried all of the Port Townsend Salons and I did not stop until I found Delucca. I love this Salon - they are funny and realistic ladies. You never have to feel uncomfortable about yourself when you walk in. the shop is clean, i never sit in a seat full of someones flakes or dead ends! Good luck finding that anywhere else in town. They are up on the new trends of hair and when I leave there i feel fabulous instead of worrying about going home with "hair regret". The stylists are are very engaging, stylish and funny. I also appreciate that they use Kevin Miller products - a green hair product line and the hair spray works amazing - I know because I like big hair! I am not a hair dresser but I also have not witnessed a bad 'edward scissor hand' head walking out the door that left me saying...OMG! I drive up every month from the island to get great hair! read more
