These are the best stylists around. I met Chloe years ago and she was a genius then and now. She did my hair for six years before moving away and eventually (thank goodness) returning. She did my hair for my book launch party and I was a hair model for her too. Obviously there is a lot of talent Chloe has. Sarah has been my current hair genius for six years as well. I still drive from Denver every month to have her do my hair. We have pretty consistently tried different things over the years and every time it's awesome. From color to cut and everything in between. Plus we laugh and have the best time. The fact that Sarah AND Chloe are at Freebird together makes this place the absolute best. The products are the the highest quality. There is good parking which is a blessing in and of itself. The sinks are even designed to be ergonomically comfortable for washing. They were very nice ladies & great shampoo massagers but the "stylist" CHOPPED & BADLY BUTCHERED years of layers and shaping after I specifically stated "don't blunt cut my hair in a straight line I just want my layers trimmed of the dead ends". SHE CUT OFF ABOUT 1.5 FEET IN A BLUNT ONE SHOT!!!! She TOOK OUT EVERY LAYER AND CUT IT TO MY BANGS (which now have no shape on face now ). I've cried all week & been a mess over this. before my appointment I sent text pic messages of my hair and what it looks like and should continue to look like, I showed her my pics at the appointment of how it should look and I stated verbally multiple times leave my length and layers just take the bottom dead ends and I want a bright white around my face & no yellow since I have to already use purple shampoo and only wash it every week or so to keep it from turning brassy. I TOLD HER repeatedly these things I TOLD HER I DONT WANT CHANGE JUST WHAT THE PICTURES SHOW . I should've walked out the moment she cut the bottom in beginning and it was a dry cut and blunt across with one swoop and about .33 inch and I reiterated to her " I'm having some concerns and don't want my hair like that" & got "oh it's just how I do it, it won't end that way I'll even it and I just don't want to waste dye" WHY WOULD SHE WASTE DYE ON THE ENDS ON A ROOTS HIGHLIGHTS!!! She kept saying when I'd question her "everyone does it differently" NO MAAM, IVE GONE TO OVER 9 stylists in 7 states over the past 6 years and every ONE OF THEM at least did the basic of not chopping off my hair and layers and not giving me fire hydrant yellow bangs for almost FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS I'm adding pics of what it looks like NOW AND BEFORE AND WHAT I ASKED FOR - the prior and what I what I ASKED FOR IT TO REMAIN IS GONE AND I HAVE TO GROW IT TO FIX IT AND AFTER THAT AMOUNT ON MY PAY CANT AFFORD TO FIX IT. The long layers and TEN YEARS of growing it to the way the layers and bangs ARE gone! I've now used purple shampoo multiple times and can't get this ugly cheap yellow color out, and my bangs don't match my hair. I was told $295 and charged $345 instead ($50 extra had me so upset I couldn't even look at it again after I left for hours, I put a hat on and cried in my car). I drove 600 miles (12 hrs of driving) RT, spent $300 on hotel and $100 on gas plus food in the area for them to destroy my hair and charge me an insane amount of money: No I didn't mention it then, although I could tell she knew, and I was quite frankly so upset I had to walk away. I can't exactly come back since this whole horrible experience cost me near $1k and I'm living this summer in South Dakota so I'd eat dirt on costs again. I literally have to start over and now terrified to have my cut fixed and honestly after spending so much I can't even afford it. Go at your own risk. read more

I went to Freebird in October of 2022 and honestly thought they had closed (I thought I had seen the building boarded up - maybe renovations?), hence the lateness of my review. I had an appointment for a full foil highlight and cut with Desiree, and very specifically told her that my hair lifts easily (according to every other colorist I've ever had). She was not attentive or careful when it came to letting the bleach sit... when she washed and brushed out my hair, there were chunks of damaged blonde strands falling out left and right. She didn't even blow dry it or style it because she was worried about causing more damage, so she braided back my dry and damaged hair. Desiree was pleasant and apologetic the entire time, which I did appreciate. My main complaint is that I left having paid over $350 for them to basically ruin my hair even after I told my stylist that my hair lifts really quickly. I tried to ask if I had to pay full price but pulled a classic nice girl move and just accepted what they told me. They did give me two small at-home treatments and had me schedule a moisturizing treatment (on them) two weeks later. While I appreciate the effort to make it right, I would have much preferred not to have paid that day rather than to come in for later treatments that really didn't make a difference or even to have paid half of what I did. I had to save up for this appointment in the first place and then was forced to spend another couple hundred on treatments at home just to get my hair looking semi-presentable again. It is still recovering five months later... my hair has never been so thin. read more

I'm always pretty skeptical and nervous when I try a new hair salon, but working with Anastasia was wonderful! When I first came in, I had a few ideas in mind about length/color and Anastasia and I were able to sit down and talk through what would be the best option given my current hair color. I have tried several salons in Boulder and have finally found the one I love! I came in with no pictures or real idea of what I wanted other than fixing my grown out blonde. Chloe made wonderful suggestions and delivered beyond my expectations. She immediately made me feel comfortable, understood exactly what I was looking for, and even wrote down what she used on my hair so that we could replicate it next time I come in. She took her time and showed extreme attention to detail while explaining every step along the way. I did not feel pressured to invest in products or settle for something I was not entirely happy with as I have at many salons. On top of all of this, I had the most fun I have ever had at a hair appointment. Chloe is so kind and personable, and we laughed all afternoon!
