Unfortunately the worst experience ever. I have literally never left a review before, but this experience was honestly really horrible. Would not recommend. I came in asking for a basic brown balayage with lighter pieces and made it very clear that I do not like red tones in my hair. I even showed a reference photo. I ended up with noticeable HOT PINK highlights, which was completely unexpected and not what I asked for at all. There was no conversation or confirmation that any kind of pink tone would be added to my hair. I gave the salon a chance to fix it and came back, spending over 8 hours across 2 days trying to correct it. Unfortunately, the end result still has red undertones and now looks muddy, not like a balayage. What made the situation worse was the way it was handled. The owner was dismissive and blamed the result on a very slight color filter on my phone, saying I "should have known" I was getting pink. Even if a photo looked slightly warm, that does not justify adding hot pink tones without clearly communicating that to a client first. The owner honestly seemed annoyed that I was there and barely finished drying my hair. When I expressed that I was still unhappy after spending $300 on something that wasn't what I asked for, I was told I would have had to pay that amount regardless, and the conversation was essentially shut down. I also tried calling afterward to resolve things and never received a response. I understand that miscommunications can happen, which is why I gave them the opportunity to fix it. But the lack of accountability, poor communication, and unprofessional attitude made this a really frustrating experience. I literally cried for hours straight after coming home with pink hair, and then to be told it was my fault and to not be offered a discount/ partial refund is CRAZY. I saw Ashley for three years until my family relocated. I'm getting my roots dyed somewhere in the Midwest tmrw, and I wish I could teleport Ashley here! She's great--never pushes products (she's seen the state of my teeth and shoes) and instinctively has known what hair dye best goes with my skin tone (rosacea, ie pink). Even better, she's a hospitality professional--she is good with chatting or not, depending on your mood. I never felt like I was being rude or we had to fake small talk. If I wanted to read my book, she was all about it. Additionally, Ashley so far has been the only hairdresser my toddler son can tolerate! Dreading tmrw without Ashley--but grateful she sent me off with my hair dye brand and mix ratios. Bad service! I would give half star if possible. I had a free blow dry coupon and I took an appointment. I was 13mins late to the appointment. After I reached the salon, they told me they will not be able to do a blow dry since I was 15mins late. I was standing in front of her in the salon and requested multiple times to accommodate but she didn't. Not even after I told her, (even though she was clearly able to tell) that I was 8 months pregnant and wanted to get a blow dry for my baby shower. This was just rude! read more

Visited Salon Karma for a haircut recently and it was very nice. My stylist Nicole P. did a great job and she took her time so that I didn't feel rushed (like I sometimes did at my last salon). The salon was clean, spacious and comfortable. The prices were reasonable and there was plenty of parking. read more

I left this salon completely unhappy with the results. You could clearly see the harsh foil lines all over my head. When I got home and showered 3 days later, with the shampoo I bought from the salon, my color completely stripped away leaving me with yellow/orange hair. I did not have faith in this salon to return here to fix my hair so I went to a different salon. When I came in 5 days later to express my concerns to the owner, I was told that "other salons try to bash us" and that she cannot trust the pictures I showed her. She continued to explain that "this could be because I was moving during my appointment or something as little as wearing a mask could effect my results of my service." I proceeded to tell the owner that I did not return to fix my hair at Karma because I was not confident in their work anymore. I have tried a lot of salons in Tewksbury and Wilmington. I have super straight but thick hair and just couldn't get a cut that worked. Sounds crazy, but it's true. They would always end up a little crooked or too blunt. And two different women at Salon Karma have both given me the best cuts ever!!!!! Highly recommend! read more

I am not sure if I would go back again. I saw some amazing reviews on yelp so I decided to book my appointment. It was no where near my expectation. I went there to get the make up and hair done for my work annual holiday party. The staff was very nice and friendly. I have a bob cut and I wanted her to give it some volume but instead she put a lot of hair spray and make my hair look so sticky and flat. My make up was even worst. I don't know what kind of make up they use but it made me look darker and the lipstick she used wasn't the best quality. My favorite thing is that I have never had an issue getting an appointment ive called that day and the day before for the time i want too. I had Ashley the first time. She was sweet and really understood what I wanted for my haircut and always made sure I was satisfied throughout the haircut. The second time, which was today, was with karen. I had extensions put in for the first time on 8/4/17 at Salon Karma from Bianca. Less than a week and $1080.00 later I had to take them out due to lumps/sores caused by the extensions. It was $900 for the extensions and on the advice of Bianca, I left a 20% tip. She told me that was customary and I realized too late that I had been scammed. I sent Bianca photos of the lumps on my head and requested that she take the extensions out as they were extremely itchy and I was very uncomfortable. I was met with great resistance and she told me to come in and have a lesson on styling them! As far as the lumps went she said "Wow" and went on about how that has never happened to anyone before. I was appalled at her dismissiveness & reaction especially considering she received an $180.00 tip! I finally had to take them out myself. On 8/17/17 I went to the Salon and spoke to the owner, Tanya, to see if I could get any reimbursement. Much to my surprise Bianca had never mentioned a word to her. I showed Tanya some photos of the lumps I developed due to the extensions and she informed me she would speak w/ Bianca and the manufacturer and get back to me. She assured me I would be reimbursed something. Well, it's 8/29 and I haven't heard a word. I have called repeatedly and the receptionists that answer are beyond rude and insist that the owner is never there. Tanya lied to my face then avoided me; very unprofessional (at best). I intend to get a lawyer so this is not the end but what a shame I have to go to this extent due to the shortcomings and bad business practices of the owner Tanya at Salon Karma . If I could have given zero stars I would have. Also, don't sit on the green cushions if cleanliness is important to you. On top of their misrepresentation, the place is filthy. Okay, let me start by saying that this salon is totally adorable, clean and well kept. This review is NOT about the salon itself. I made an appointment based on a recommendation from a friend and was initially pretty excited when I first walked in. It's a really cute place, very well located in town. Lots of parking available, very accessible. Now, that said, I want to get to the real reason I'm giving this place one star. The woman who cut [butchered] my hair asked me as soon as I sat down in her chair what I wanted for a haircut. I proceeded to tell her that I'd like my hair cut to at or just above my shoulder, layered to thin it out (I have HUGE hair unless I use a straightener or TONS of product, so this is the only way to tame it), with shorter bangs on one side. Not only was I incredibly specific about what I wanted, I showed her a PICTURE OF MYSELF WITH THE EXACT EFFING HAIRCUT. She washed my hair, brought me back to the chair, and proceeded to hack off the entirety of my hair, all the way up past my CHIN. Apparently, according to this woman, my chin and my shoulder are the same thing. So after hacking the length almost 4 inches shorter than I wanted it, she proceeded to do a complete hatchet job with the layers and bangs. It's completely hideous. THEN, she insisted on prolonging the torture, and drying and styling it for me. Let's just say it didn't improve the situation. When she was finished brutalizing my head, she pretty much said Peace Out, didn't give me any pointers, didn't say oh hey if there are any problems, give me a call (in fairness, the woman who checked me out did that), she just turned to another customer and brushed me off. As I walked out the door, crying in fury. Now I realize that it's probably pretty shallow getting pissed off about a bad haircut. But here's the thing. As I was telling this woman what I wanted, she was too busy talking about her upcoming wedding to even stop and listen to me. So not only did she do a hatchet job on my head, she was completely unapologetic about it, since she didn't have the attention span to even listen to any guidance I (... you know, the person who has to WEAR this effing haircut) was giving. So yeah, I give this place one star, unless they can recommend me to a good salon to get hair extensions so I don't have to look in the mirror and see this completely awful mangling of my hair every day. So thanks for nothing, Salon Karma. I've never been so horribly dissatisfied with a haircut in all my life. And my mom gave me a homemade bowl cut when I was six. So read into that what you will. Don't come here. It's not worth the money, even if you have a half off coupon. I want my money AND the tip I paid this woman back. It was a complete and udder waste, and now I look worse than I ever thought I could. read more

I got my haircut and extensions by the owner, Tonya, and she did a PHENOMENON job! I have red hair, and she managed to matched my color perfectly for the extensions. Everyone in the salon was warm and friendly, I would definitely recommend checking this place out!! read more
