Today it was my turn to get a hair cut & color. Yelp to the rescue! The name of this place was attractive to me, because I am a circus buff (and author of a circus book). So I looked at the reviews and all the fabulous pictures of hair here on Yelp, and took a chance. I called & made an appointment. I think it was with Lydia over the phone, and I went in today, for my appointment. We chatted. I like to give the basics about my hair & broad goals and tell my lady to just have fun. I told her about my trichtotillomania. I told her about my own color jobs - my roots were showing. The previous job was showing, and the very light ends were most of my head. The trichtotillomania had grown out in places on the top of my head and needed to be blended in so they would hide. I have previously had a wonderful hair dresser cut my hair very short (which I am okay with) to hide the ends I have pulled out. I am with a new partner who likes me to have long hair, so Lydia decided on a multi-layer haircut. And I told her I like ash blonde and pink and lavender / light purple. She went with darker roots to match my own roots "so it will grow out nicely" and she added pink and purple to the tips. There were 4 colors going on my head to make this happen!! 1 color for the roots, pink, light purple, and ash blonde for the ends of my hair. She did such a phenomenal job!! Worth every penny. I will definitely be going back and asking for Lydia the Tattooed Lady at The Bearded Lady Salon in Wichita. PS: There is also a super sweet dog here named Gretel. Gretel and I had a nice moment where I was petting her and she stayed with me so long as I was petting her. What a love bug she is.

Everyone there also wasn't super pushy about selling products like other stores are, but still professional informing customers about their products. Micah was fantastic with coloring my hair! Showed her a picture for inspiration and not only did she achieve it, she managed to keep my hair intact and healthy! She also recommended me the perfect products for my hair and used some when styling it so I could see the results of these products (pricey, but worth it!). I had super coarse, dry hair and it came out super smooth, without breakage, and the same length! Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to get your hair done! The cost of the service was about what I was expecting, especially since my hair is darker and takes a bit to lighten and lift.
