I booked an appointment to get this hot mess of hair hooked up for a wedding I have coming up. My appointment was set with Jessica on a Saturday morning. My balayage was really brassy and I had a few grey stragglers on top of my head I needed to have covered up. When I walked in, the pictures online don't even do the salon justice. It is so beautiful inside, I loved the ambiance, the staff was very friendly and the free coffee didn't hurt either. Jessica was very warm and friendly, offered some suggestions on the look I was trying to accomplish and the end result was simply amazing. I've had pretty bad color experiences before, but I will definitely be sticking with Jessica as long as I can! She even massaged my head/scalp and gave me under eye gel pads to help soothe my puffy under eye area...it felt like a mini spa get away. read more

I split my time between downriver and the northern burbs. One weekend i found myself with some time to kill and in desperate need of a haircut. I checked Yelp out and saw some good reviews for Salon Mischa. I called them up and they were able to accommodate me within 30 minutes on a Saturday morning. Score! I arrived and was a little bit alarmed that the facade of the building was PINK, but I walked in and found the decor cute and fun, and not terribly worrisome. Upon arrival I was offered, water, coffee, or a glass of wine. Nice touch. It doesn't cost much for them to offer, but it makes for a nice impression. I didn't take any of the options, but appreciate that they offer them. I'm pretty low maintenance, so I asked the girl who cut my hair (whose name I sadly forget) to cut my hair however she thought would be best, given a couple of things: my hair has been thinning for the last few years due to a medical condition, so I wanted something that didn't accentuate the thinning nature, and also I wanted to be able to pull it back in a ponytail when I'm feeling lazy. She definitely left it long enough to be pulled back, but the cut itself was a little lackluster. I realize my hair is on the thin side, but the salon I normally go to in Sterling Heights manages to give me a cut that gives my hair some life. This cut didn't. I will say, though, that the girl who cut it was really friendly. It wasn't a "bad" haircut, but it wasn't one that left me feeling sassier than when I'd walked in. I'd go back in a pinch, but more than likely, I'll make it a point to book my normal salon. read more

My all time favorite salon. These girls are so incredibly talented and professional. You are guaranteed to leave looking and feeling beautiful. I see Teresa on a regular basis for my cuts and colors but I would see any of the girls there and fully trust them. Jaime, Erica, Michelle and Teresa recently did an on location glam session for myself and my bridesmaids and everyone looked and felt beautiful. The pricing was also extremely reasonable and they were so incredibly easy to work with. Michelle did my updo and Teresa did my makeup for my big day and my everything lasted all damn day! It lasted under the sun, and through hours of dancing. My hair never frizzed and the curl never fell out. My makeup never ran, creased or faded. I cannot recommend these girls enough. read more

I needed a haircut and a brow wax ... desperately, so I made an appointment at Salon Mischa - a friend told me the place was good. When I walked in, I was offered the option of water, coffee or wine! I love this place already. I am very picky about my hair, yet I rarely ever go to the same place twice - very few people ever seem to get it right. Well, by the luck of the draw, Nancy was available when I had time to get my hair cut. She spent about 5 or 6 minutes discussing with me what I wanted and gave her opinion WHEN ASKED! My hair is not the easiest to cut, it is thick and flippy in certain areas and baby fine in others so I often get a mediocre at best haircut. In addition to that, my brows are not the easiest to wax either (I have a scar going right through my left brow). She got my eyebrows perfectly symmetrical! Yay! And my hair ... oh, my hair! Once I put my glasses back on, I was in love! It was probably the best haircut I remember having. I think I have gotten 7 or 8 compliments on my hair (and it was just cut today!). I've been going to Salon Mischa for about a year now and I absolutely love it! Their new location is so cute, you just feel like "this is where the cool kids go to get their hair done!" I've only had my hair cut and colored by Michelle but that's not a negative point to the other ladies! The owner of Salon Mischa cut my hair personally. I was offered my choice of Red/White Wine & Miller/Bud Lite. I took the Bud. They often offer Champagne as well. It was painless and even though I was a few minutes late they called me a few minutes after 5 to make sure I was still coming in. Most places just assume that you're a lowlife and cancel your appointment. I was already sold at that point. THIS IS THE BEST HAIRCUT IN METRO DETROIT. ESPECIALLY FOR THE VALUE! Let me tell you, the ambiance in this place is amazing. I had it cut a few weeks before Christmas and they helped get me in the spirit...These gals can make you look great for very little. I got a man's cut for $20. I told them I was floored at the price. Coming from Portland, Oregon, this same cut would have EASILY been $50-60. I tipped her $5 and I could have easily tipped her $10. I only give it $$ because people downriver expect to just go to BoRics and "splurge" on a $6 whack-job shaving their head (and probably their ear off too). She was entertaining and friendly. Easy to talk to but not overbearing. Not one of those chatty-kathy, bitchy ladies that will start telling you about their cat or their boy problems 5 minutes in and lose sight of the task at hand. Then you come out looking like "Jim Carey in Dumb & Dumber" to quote my wife. Seriously, if you don't get your haircut at Salon Mischa and you live anywhere near Wyandotte, you are just flat-out dumb. There's even a bar next door so you can go show off your new 'do afterwards. Heard of this place through a friend. Went there and got my hair cut and styled by Trista. I gotta say, she did a fantastic job. I felt very comfortable in the salon itself with it's eclectic mix of mirrors and artwork. It's kind of upscale but down-to-earth at the same time. Weird, I know but I liked it. Anyhoo, they offered me wine, coffee, or water upon arrival which was awesome since I had a long day. Wine was great, conversation was great, and I loved my hair cut. I went back a week later to get highlights; used Trista again and she blew me away. It's been a long time since I have been happy with a dye job and cut so I am thrilled to have found this place. I apologize in advance-- I don't know the names of the two ladies who have done my hair and waxes so far. The salon is cute and funky for the downriver area. Not very big, but the staff is always friendly and they carry a variety of products. Street parking and a lot across from the salon. The lady who has given me eyebrow waxes has done a decent job. It's $12 and they do them back at the shampoo bowl. I've gone 3 times since I've moved to the area, and I already have a shape, so I merely need them to be cleaned up. This last time I noticed she missed areas. I missed it when I was there because I don't think the growth was fully in yet, but now (a week or two later) there are areas where new growth is coming in. I have always been able to go almost 4 weeks btwn visits, so I know she must have missed these areas. Not a huge deal, but I think she needs to take a little more time-- I am annoyed that after a week or two I already need to go back. Oh-- you generally don't need an appt for a quick wax. They've gotten me in twice now with just a quick heads-up phone call. But now that I think about it, maybe that is why she isn't spending a lot of time on ensuring my eyebrows are done well-- there has always been a client waiting when she is done with me. So maybe she is rushing? I saw someone else for color. She is younger (but not the owner, Jamie) and has longer hair. Anyway, she was really nice and straight to the point, and knew exactly what to do. Chatty but not TOO chatty, which I like. Small talk is great, but I get uncomfortable when someone talks my ear off the entire time! The results (all over color and partial highlights) were great and a few weeks later and I'm still liking them. I have difficult hair (thick, frizzy, curly) but she was able to do a really good blow out/style. It was $85, which is reasonable. I'll definitely continue going to her. Overall I like the salon. It's a convenient location for me and I like the vibe. It's not too pricey and everyone is friendly for the most part. I haven't been to many of the other salons in the area (this one was recommended to me by my Mom and sister when I moved) so I don't have much in terms of comparison, but I'm satisfied enough with them that I don't feel it's necessary. read more

I have been here twice a year for the past 6 years but felt that I owed them a review after what a great job they did last time I went. My hair was long, blond, thick and tangled last time I went in. I was ready to change my hair completely. You would think I'd be nervous to have them chop 10 inches off and dye it a dark brown. Nope. Completely at ease because track record shows they do an excellent job every time. Theresa cut my hair exactly as I described it and did better than I could imagine. Michelle dyed my bright blonde hair dark brown in one try. It's even and beautiful. I have gotten an overwhelming amount of compliments and am so happy with my hair! I have short hair and it is very difficult to find someone who can cut trendy short hair and Michelle is absolutely the best. I have been to many salons and Michelle is absolutely the most creative stylist and fabulous with color. It is very difficult to find a salon where everyone isn't walking out with the same style or you can never style it by yourself for the best result. When I first moved in to my house the owner lives down the road and gave me her card so I figured I would try it. They got me in last minute and the salon itself is adorable. My daughter and I love coming here! We both see Teresa, although would be comfortable with any of the hair stylists. It is tremendously friendly - you feel like you are family as you are offered a beverage upon arrival, and each employee takes care of you and gets to know you. I am very impressed by the owner Jaimie because you can tell as she is working easily with her clients she has a special eye out for everything taking place. My daughter has very curly and thick hair and she is very self conscious about her appearance. Every worker makes her feel special and beautiful. Teresa takes care of my daughter weekly; giving her a blowout and straightening. She has also seen her for several special occasion up-do's or styling as well as makeup. These ladies are talented! Since I'm here weekly I've seen all kinds of clients get all kinds of treatments and styles. It is also very economical. This place is awesome! I've been coming here for over four years now. I have terrible flexibility when it comes to making time for appointments, I trust all the stylists there so I just see whichever one can get me in when I need it. All the girls are super nice, and every time I've left there I've been in love with how my hair has turned out. I've seen Jaime and Nancy for colors, and I've seen all the other girls for blowouts, I think the other girls names are Teresa, Jessie and Amy. None of them have ever colored my hair, but I have seen their work and I've never seen anything bad. I've had Amy do my manicures, and they always turn out flawless. These girls rock.
