Parking is several blocks away - uphill or down (with a subsequent corresponding descent or ascent upon the return!).

The exhibit spanned multiple levels and had descriptions in English and French. The way that Mucha's work and his life was shown felt extremely intentional and progressed at a good speed. The lunch I had at café caumont consisted of a salad and a dessert. Despite not being what I expected, the salad was great and just filling enough. The interior of the café feels like a great setting for high tea (and they do have afternoon tea). The pastry I had after the meal was good, but was heavier on the crust than I expected. While I understand I am paying for a nice experience, the price point was much higher than I expected for my meal. I would definitely return for both Café Caumont and especially any further exhibits.

We went in September 2015 and at the time tours were only offered in French but the Aix tourism office highly recommended this tour which was only 7 Euros. Parking was at Parking des 3 Bons Dieux, avenue Jean et Marcel Fontenaille and a bus along with tour guide accompany you up to the quarries. Our tour guide spoke perfect English so while the tour was only in French, he would help us out and give part of the tour in English. Our tour guide knew EVERYTHING about Cezanne so it was a great informative tour about why Cezanne is considered the father of modern art. Our guide walked us through the quarry and pointed out how different points of perspective were changed in his paintings....inspiring the Cubists. I think we got the most out of this tour because it was a small group so def worth the trip!

The eggs are deliciously fluffy and I ate them with the cheeses and smoked salmon every day that it was available. - The WiFi is quite good. - The location is great, being near the city center and very walkable. - The rooms are well soundproofed. - Direct USB connections to the walls means that you can survive without a travel adapter (though I still recommend a universal adapter) - The showers got suitably hot! - Staff were overall pretty friendly. Cons: - The rooms are quite small. - Some amenities are missing that are normal at American hotels. Notably, there was no ironing board, conditioner, mini-fridge, or lotion. - I was charged a corkage fee of 5 EUR to open my own wine at the hotel lobby.. I guess I should just go to my room? Overall, great location and a quaint small room that's great for sleeping but not much else. The staff are great and very helpful. Awesome breakfast.

All this epicurean goodness while drenched in the golden, Provencale sun and surrounded by the very landscape that inspired Cezanne's paintings. Does it get any better? Only if you have great company to do it with (and I did!). I would relive this afternoon again in a heartbeat. She took us shopping in the market, olive oil tasting, to the cheese shop, the wine shop and back for a cooking class to pair a three course lunch we cooked with three wines. We made a quiche, fruit dessert and a little app and it was all delicious! I can't say enough about this tour. Hilary was incredibly bubbly and knowledgable. She was on a cheek kissing basis with everyone, even the cheese guy who scowled at the rest of the locals. I recommend this tour to anyone and everyone traveling in Aix!
