I've gotten my eyebrows waxed here, a haircut, and a perm. The hairstylists I've met are very friendly and easy to get along with. The business is spotless and well-organized. They serve smoothies and pastries, and are delivered to your room, so while your hair is getting cut, you can get your drink/food, and it's pretty awesome. Prices aren't overly expensive, and they vary for each stylist. Products are available to buy at the front; they also sell clothes and jewelry. Very cute salon. I only had one bad experience, and that was with my haircut. It was so horrible, I buzzed it off when I got home. However, it was my fault for not speaking up. So I will take accountability. Battling Texas heat and humidity, and my overall lack of knowledge of how to properly style my hair, I was thrilled when they had one opening left. My stylist, I believe her name was Jasmine, was so kind and engaging. I showed her two pictures of what I envisioned for my wedding guest hair and she absolutely nailed it. I just wanted a fishtail braid off to the side with some loose curls on a few pieces. Salon Mystique is my preferred and favorite salon in the Austin/Dripping Springs area. The decor is so elegant. There is a snack bar (with amazing cupcakes) and a gift shop when you enter. For background reference, I'm highly allergic to hair color. For years I've been using henna to color my hair because it was the only way to cover grays without a steroid shot. Henna is beautiful and it leaves my hair shiny and smooth. I do love it, but the down sides are that it's super permanent, it takes virtually all day long to process, you can only go darker, and doing roots is always a crapshoot to match your last full color. To go lighter, get highlights, or play with colors was out of the question. When I told a salon that I was allergic and had hennaed my hair, they wouldn't touch me due to liability of unpredictable permanent results. In short, they didn't understand henna and were afraid I'd sue them if I had an allergic reaction or if they ruined my hair. All I really wanted though was someone who didn't treat me like I was a monster and would just talk to me about options. Then I found Salon Mystic in Dripping Springs. They weren't 'fraid of me! I went in about 6 months ago wanting a balayage. At first, I was told I'd never be able to do that to my hair because I had henna and that I'd have to grow all my henna out before I could highlight or color even with PPD-free color... But there was some speculation about options. After THREE separate consultations with different highly-experienced hair technicians, they each consulted together to find a solution. I felt more like an exciting new challenge than an invalid. They introduced me to the owner of the salon, Misty, who knew what to do. She had experience with allergies and had a special product line exclusively designed to make monsters like me look like normal folk. We did a test run the first time trying to color some grays but my allergy reared it's head again and I ended up in the clinic two days later getting steroids. But, Misty didn't waver! She contacted her product rep and found another solution. I went back in to do a patch test this time and waited two weeks. No reaction! We found a winner! Misty took 4 hours being ultra careful with me, using practicaly a box of cotton to make sure none of the color touched my scalp. She was able to give me the sun-kissed highlights I'd always longed for without the ER visit I left there nearly in tears! I gave Misty a huge hug for making me feel like a Queen Thank you Salon Mystic for taking care with me and making me feel special and not crazy. You guys were incredible!!! read more

1.) This salon is not in Austin proper. It is a $40 UBER ride (45 minutes south of Austin). 2.) I booked with the blow-out bar, just to discover all 3 of us were with different private stylists in their own rooms with their own prices. 3.) The cafe was closed and they couldn't even sell me water. 4.) It took me over 30 minutes to find a ride back to Austin. No one from UBER would pick me up, so I had to download LYFT to find a ride back to my hotel. What a disaster! read more

I soooo wanted to love this salon. It really is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. I was on a day trip and decided to refresh my color. (HUGE mistake) The salon looked very professional so I gave them a try. I was assigned to Allie. She is very friendly but maybe not as up to date on color as she should be. She applied an all over high lift color to my blonde hair. When she rinsed the color out ,my hair was orange!!! She said "don't judge it until it's dry." I was in disbelief. She then applied a toner. My roots are bright yellow and the rest of my hair is a weird mix of purple, grey and white. I was so disappointed. To add insult to injury my total was $200!!!!!!! What the heck??? I should have refused to pay the outrageous price but I was so mortified I just ran my card and left. Allie did offer to redo my hair in the upcoming weeks but I live over an hour away from Salon Mystique, so I can't just hop back in to have this mess fixed. I was refused a refund of any kind. This review is more for Heather Barclay than the salon itself, though I was very impressed with the location. It's a little bit of a drive for me, but I went out of the way because I was able to get in to see Heather on a Sunday. Hooray! The salon is beautifully finished. I was surprised by all the treatments/services they offer. I had no idea! There's also a cafe, though it was closed when I visited. There weren't many other staff in the building on a Sunday, but Fritz was super friendly and welcoming. Heather is FANTASTIC. It was my first time seeing her, and she was a dream. She was friendly, super knowledgeable, and there was none of that awkward silence you sometimes get with a new stylist. She made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in the door. And this girl is PATIENT! My head was quite a mess from a previous color/cut situation (and me showing up without properly prepping my hair!), and Heather spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to best fix things and walked me through every step. I just saw Leena for a root touch up and cut. The color matches my very dark, almost black hair and the cut is cute (a bit shorter than I had expected, but still nice). However, she wasn't very friendly or talkative and seemed to be not feeling well. We all have our off days, but I so rarely get my hair done I was hoping for more of a spa salon time there. My biggest complaint is how completely soaked my shirt and pants were from the sink experience. I was literally soaking wet when we were done. That was not cool since I had to be somewhere shortly after my appt. She did try to blow dry it. I might come back but maybe will try out another stylist? read more

Karly recently moved to this new location. Her specialties are micro-dermabrasion, dermaplaining, brow and lip waxing, lash and brown tinting, and other special services as requested. She also specializes in Age defying facials for women, men and teens. She will make you feel (and look) like a million bucks! Her touch is smooth, gentle but firm touch is marvelous.
