The quality, as promised, was lacking where the high gloss paint was used, and not done to our satisfaction. Yes, there was a problem, but there was also a happy ending! Based on past experiences with other companies, we figured they would push back against our complaints, and move on without rectifying the situation. Luckily, that was not the case. One of the most important qualities in any company's owners, is integrity. The owner here stood behind his work, and had a very experienced painter come back to completely redo the high gloss areas that were done incorrectly. It looks beautiful now! He also explained that since this job, they have taken steps to change some of their practices to improve in the future. Every company should take advantage of learning experiences, take accountability for mistakes, and put the customer first. Stubbins Painting is one of those companies. This sort of real integrity is rare, and is what makes me comfortable in recommending them!

We hired Stubbins Painting for an interior remodel project that included a Level 5 and 4 skim coat,…read morepainting of our entire home, installation and painting of six new pre-hung interior doors with new trim, provided new baseboards throughout to paint, installation of a new master vanity and countertop, laundry cabinet install, and vanity lighting junction box install. Unfortunately, we experienced serious issues with nearly everything they touched. After final work and multiple touch-up attempts, the wall finish did not come close to what we contracted for as a Level 5 skim coat. The finished surfaces showed visible waves, tool marks, uneven and rough textures, paint easily came off walls, and inconsistencies throughout the house. Several independent professionals we later consulted stated the finish did not meet professional expectations and that key prep steps, including proper sanding between skim coat stages, appeared to have been skipped all together. The paint and finish work on the brand-new doors, trim, and baseboards was especially disappointing. The trim, baseboards, and doors did not appear to be properly prepped before painting--there was no evidence of adequate sanding or cleaning, debris was trapped beneath painted surfaces, and the final result looked like old trim had simply been painted over rather than new materials professionally finished. Tops and bottoms of doors were also left unsealed/unpainted. Touch-ups were repeatedly described as "fixes," but many repaired areas remained visible afterward and blended poorly with surrounding surfaces. Beyond the painting issues, additional contracted work--including the laundry cabinets, master vanity and countertop installation, door installation, and vanity lighting--ultimately had to be corrected or redone at additional cost by another contractor. We invested in what we expected to be professional workmanship and were extremely disappointed in the final result. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Stubbins Painting for any Level skim coating, finish carpentry prep/painting, or remodeling-related work.

I was leaving in a week for nearly a month and having guests when I returned so I needed this remedied immediately. I'm so glad I called Tyler. He answered his phone immediately, something that rarely happens when I'm calling a plumber, appliance repair, or other home services. He got out to me within 2 days for an estimate, wrote up a very reasonable contract, and scheduled the work for the following week. He came himself to the job with his two workers, explained the job throughly, and the laborers consulted with him. I was impressed by this because I've had jobs where the consult was not with the same person as the laborers for other projects and I think this is an important communicative step. I actually got more attention to detail than I could have imagined. All said and done, the laborers were respectful experts who were careful and had intensive preparations and protections for my home. When it comes time to paint the rest of my home, no question, I am calling Tyler. My bathrooms are gorgeous!
