This is their most recently opened studio. They are upstairs from the Starbucks, down the alleyway and through the glass doors to your left. With beautiful calming white walls, cushioned wooden benches and a lovely black-white poster at reception. A sliding door hides the tea and fridge with cold drinks. Behind the desk are clean protein powders, yoga mats and other things on sale. You can hang up your jackets and layers on their chrome hooks above the bench and they also have sliding out drawers with keys if you need to lock up valuables. The glazed glass sliding door leads you into the most zen studio I've ever experienced. Venetian blinds around the top of the two walls and clean wooden floors. There is the front instructor mat with two candles burning and a soundtrack in the background. The have a lovely light wood, floor to ceiling shelving system that holds their gorgeous grey bolsters, thick woollen grey blankets and cosy black flannel blankets, blocks and ties. Gets warm in the evenings with their heater- so no excuse not to show up. After class they have two bathrooms with showers if you need to freshen up. Love the range of classes, with great instructors and in love with this studio. Highly recommend that newbie week pass and this yoga studio.

There's no two ways about it, Bikram is painful and unpleasant, but the sense of calm and peace I have afterwards makes it all worthwhile. The North Shore Birkram Yoga Centre is a great place to get an introduction to hot yoga. They offer a great intro offer which allows you to attend unlimited classes for about two weeks for just $25. That's awesome value and just enough time to get you hooked. The staff are friendly and understanding and the atmosphere is peaceful. Make sure you take a big towel to your first lesson. I took a small gym towell and it was not at all adequate for the amount of sweating the hot yoga induces!

It is definitely not for the faint hearted and you need to be well hydrated before a class if you are a sweater like me. However I did this 3 days a week for a month and became forty something and fit as! I went from not being able to slow run without pulling a muscle to sprinting like a teen again in my team sport! One month was all it took...for me anyway. Flexible hammies means everything is so easy.. tieing laces, picking the kids toys up off the floor, weeding and strong thighs mean you can leap up the stairs 2 at a time and chase the kids... And you sleep like a baby after an evening class.... Give it a go and persevere... it's worth it!

At this stage Glenfield Family Doctors were at their old location inside the Pharmacy on the same road just a few numbers down to the left. Years on, I continue to visit Jocelyn for check up's and when I come down with the flu, and also bring my little 16 month old to visit her when he also gets a bug. I love the new location of 575 Glenfield, as they are situated inside a bungalow and it's very homely and bright. The reception waiting room has some great toys and games for my little toddler to amuse himself with while he waits his turn too which really helps ease the time. The doctors and nurses at Glenfield Family are a wonderful cheerful group of ladies, who are professional and experts in what they do. We were walking around and I saw this massage place, went in, and grabbed a brochure. Several people in our party ended up getting massages. I called the day before and booked for 8:30 AM on a Saturday morning. My therapist was a young guy named Red, a doctor in massage therapy and acupuncture from China. He was AMAZING!!! I had no idea my head could be massaged like that!! It hurt so good! Red has very advanced, graduate degree massage technique. You should absolutely ask for him. He suggested acupuncture to increase blood flow to my brain, and I absolutely trusted him to do it. I wish I could go to him regularly, but alas! He is very talented and well-studied. At 60 NZD (about $40 USD) for 60 minutes, the massage is a STEAL. The acupuncture was an additional $45 NZD ($30 USD) which I gladly paid up with a generous tip. We also got to talking and Red has done a lot of hiking. My brother happened to be in China at the exact same time so Red made me a map of where to visit. Wonderful massage. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I love their massages because they're minimum an hour (which I feel is only just long enough to truly relax and unwind) and are affordable. Their massages are either 60 minutes, 90 minutes or 120 minutes. They do traditional Thai massages, aromatherapy massages, hot oil massages and my favourite the Swedish and sports massages. They also perform facials, body scrubs and hot stone spas. There is no need to book as they do accept walk ins. Before your treatment they kindly given you some green tea, and give your feet a quick scrub before showing you to your room. After your massage or beauty treatment they have another cup of green tea waiting with your shoes. Hadtawach is located down a funny old looking drive, but seriously, this place is 100% legit and I have only ever had a fantastic experiences here!
