I'm a pretty practical man. This place is just what I needed. 10/10 you GOTTA try to the Coors on tap. It's absolutely delicious and you will never get enough of this place. The wall art is impeccable and the music...well the music is diverse to say the least. Come out for a good time y'all

I love this divey, old Gainesville bar. Been here a few times and my favorite part is the excellent choice of music! I do hate the smoking thought. Therefore, I can't do that 5th star. I would probably close the place down if I could handle the cigarette smoke.

If I weren't in college...or should I say a very recent graduate..I might rate this place lower. It is definitely one of my go-to bars for cheap drinks with a decent atmosphere. I prefer to go here in the late afternoon rather than the evenings...not very much fun when it's super crowded; unless you're already sauced and then you probably won't care. They have happy hour every day until 7; they also serve food (not sure about the cleanliness of the kitchen) and the food is pretty decent for bar food. The best thing about happy hour is half priced food! Their drink specials are different every day/night; some days they have good specials on imports or just a specific type of drinks (for example seadog blue paw and woodchuck were $2 for ladies on saturday). As mentioned in other reviews Yunegling pitchers are always $5, good place to take turns buying pitchers with friends. Some night I have trouble meeting my $5 tab minimum, lol! Draft/beer selection is only bested by Stubbies and Steins, which is a bar dedicated exclusively to beer...so.. They also have a couple "drinking around the world" type challenges that you must complete in 30 days (free shirt involved). They have beer, whiskey, and tequila categories. It's a college dive bar with a fun atmosphere and cheap drinks, go have a drink and be merry! It might not be as fancy as Swamp but it's a hell of a lot cheaper!

A place to get good beer at a good price in GLASSWARE?! On the strip? Right next to an equally awesome and laid back place that had a cracked toilet bowl behind a puddle of vomit the first time I showed up. Salty Dog, back in the 70s apparently was the only place to get hot food delivered when you were up late. Now days I don't think you can even buy food here. But you can definitely get beer. It does get crowded, but they've got a bar in the back and a bar in the front, and a door at the back and a door at the front. A bit of a collection of old Gator gear and Florida decor on the walls and ceiling. One of the things I love about Salty Dog, other than their clubs for drinking their assortment of beers or whiskeys, or the fact that they have a decent selection of beer and you don't have to go downtown. Is that they have air conditioning. They also have pool tables and a juke box.

BBQ wings and some classic Dog Lager in the pitchers.

Some of my best college memories made here -- love this place when it's empty on a Monday afternoon as well as crowded on a weekend night. You can actually have a conversation inside and they play mostly classics/rock hits. Sometimes it gets too packed but they have food late night, cheap beer per usual college town standards and an oldies homey vibe with classic wood/license plate decor and various neon signs. Only lost one star because they've been letting people troll the juke box lately and play absolute garbbbb such as sandstorm by darude if you are familiar with the tune. The food is actually STELLAR for the type of place it is, and 59¢ wings at least two nights a week I'm pretty sure. Pro tip, the wings actually are but if you're the slimy type keep in mind that they're a bit on the crispy side, which I personally prefer.

Apple Maps struggled to provided proper directions to parking and it might be because the area is under construction so just give yourself time to find Loosey's especially if going for dinner. It sure is worth the effort though, especially if you get Matthew as your server. He is full of wit and great local knowledge. He charmed our table from our first encounter. Loosey's has to be a local favorite because the quality and freshness of the food is outstanding. Matthew is a local treasure and made our experience there so memorable and fun. We all remarked that it must be so electric there when live music is on stage or it's a Gator game day. We started with the loaded potato skins. There were 5 large pieces that were covered with toppings and delivered pipping hot. I could easily order that as a meal next time I'm in town. Their house ranch dipping sauce that is drizzled on top was delicious. Several in our group ordered the Chic-fil Loosey's, which is a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, but I wasn't able to grab a photo as they were so eager to get started eating it. The portion of chicken breast was extremely large and the batter was perfectly crispy. Both diners exclaimed it was one of their all- time favorite chicken sandwiches they had ever eaten. Another diner took advantage of their wing special and exclaimed the Buffalo Garlic sauce was fantastic and she paired them with their ranch as well. She loved their added touch of the small paper basket topping the plate of wings for the bones. I had the Classic Beef Burger and it was cooked perfectly. There was a nice peppery flavor to the grill of the burger and the patty size was more than I expected. Especially for the price. I was so happy we found Loosey's. It was really good food. I encourage you to look past the construction mess and the "old wooden bar" stereotypes and trust me when o say, they take great pride on preparing high quality food.

Beautiful day so we sat outside in a lovely patio area. Great beer menu with draughts imported or domestic as well as a full bar. The menu was pretty much standard bar fare I had fish and chips and my wife had Mac and cheese. The fries on my plate were covered in salt. I tried to shake it off and wound up with a layer of salt on my plate. Most restaurant food is too salty for me as I cook at home low salt but this was crazy. I decided to try the Mac and cheese. It also had a cap of salt on it. I tried to dig to the bottom of the crock thinking that wouldn't be salty but I was wrong. The dish was prepared with salt throughout. Time to go and I did complain. The waitress said she hears that a lot and she offered to replace our meal to go but we didn't take her up on that offer. The fish was great! And we loved the vibe of the restaurant inside and out. I would go back again but knowing that I would order SALT FREE !!

My first time at Flaco's but definitely NOT my last The person (who I assume must be the owner) working the register, taking the orders, and making the food was so kind, suggesting options for me given it was my first time there. I got the beef arepas and a cheese pastry cause I was not too hungry. The food was piping hot and delicious. Others in our group got their empanadas, Cuban sandwich, cheese arepas, quesitos, loaded nachos, and guava cheese pastry. As we sat there eating, the line was growing longer and longer, and out the door by the time we left. It was not due to slow service but volume of last night revelers. The one person working that night was incredibly efficient. Kudos to him. Clean bathroom is a good sign of a clean establishment. Flaco's bathroom was clean. I will be back for more tasty eats!

The prices are not bad for the amount of food you get and they have a lot of options. I got the sunshine burrito, which includes a variety of mixed vegetables in place of a meat. The burrito was huge and loaded with fillings, though the fillings were a bit unevenly distributed so some bites were dry and others were loaded with sauce. It was tasty though, I just wish it was a bit better mixed. The service was alright, the guy working was super nice but the food took a long time to come out. The atmosphere is just the best and I always have a good time! Seating is first come, first serve or seat yourself situation. So if there is a big game, you should get there a couple hours early to ensure you get a seat. Otherwise you will be wondering the restaurant trying to pounce on an open seat the second you see one. We actually arrived 2.5 hours before the game even started and almost all the seats were taken already. While this can be a little chaotic, it really adds to the experience of eating here on a game day! It was absolutely PACKED for the national championship, people were even bringing chairs from home to sit outside. We ended up sitting at a small outdoor bar. Our bartender or server, Maddie, was excellent. She made sure we were satisfied the whole time and did a great job checking in on us. She was also super friendly and great to talk to! Considering how busy it was, the food didn't take too long to come out. When it is super busy, you can order food at the bar (inside or outside one) and don't need to have a table to receive service. The staff did a great job keeping up with everything and making sure things were running as efficiently as possible. For the food, the five of us started with an order of mozzarella sticks and their famous buffalo chicken dip. The mozzarella sticks are a new menu item and feature golden-fried mozzarella sticks, crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside, served with ranch marinara. These were really, really good, with a nice cheese pull and the perfect amount of breading. I was quite surprised with how tasty these were! The Buffalo chicken dip consists of pulled chicken mixed with buffalo wing sauce, melted cheddar, pepper jack, and cream cheese, finished with ranch and an extra kick of hot sauce, served with tortilla chips, celery, and carrots. This was AMAZING and a perfect starter for the table to share. Served in a cast iron skillet, the portion is huge and the dip is super flavorful and creamy. There weren't enough chips served with the dip for all of us, but our server was happy to give us a complimentary tray of chips. I can easily see why this is a favorite and I will definitely be ordering this next time I come here! I also got a side Caesar salad and thought that was great as well. It was a nice portion, with fresh romaine, shredded Parmesan cheese, croutons, and capers. We ordered our entrees around kickoff, I ended up getting the Founder's Club Sandwich. The Founder's Club included a grilled chicken breast topped crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, provolone cheese, served on toasted sourdough bread, with a side of swamp sauce. All the entrees come with fries, unless you want to upgrade to another side or request not to have them. I really enjoyed this sandwich. The chicken had a nice char to it and was surprisingly juicy. I appreciated the sourdough bread over a regular bun as well. The subtleness of the provolone cheese and the fresh tomato were great too! Overall, we had an awesome time watching the CFB national championship at The Swamp. The atmosphere and vibes are unmatched. Service was awesome and the workers there are so on top of things. Food hit the spot and the Buffalo chicken dip was our favorite. Can't wait to come back!!
