Sure, it's expensive, but the quality of the produce is consistently exceptional. You can always count on them to have a great variety of fresh salad greens, sweet vine-ripened baby tomatoes, delicious grape varieties (cotton candy grapes...yum), juicy berries and amazing stone fruit in the summer. They just seem to know where to source the most delicious produce year round. But it's also a specialty food shop. They have a nice selection of olive oils, pasta sauces, spices and tons of essentials, as well as dry goods. Plus they stock fresh juices, baked goods from some of Toronto's finest bakeries, and they even sell premium smoked salmon from Kristapson's. I love having a shop like this right around the corner! Coins and credit cards are accepted. - If you spend at least $15 at the store, you get reimbursed for forty minutes ($2) of parking. Present your ticket and the credit is applied. I love Farm Boy. Markham doesn't have one. The closest one to my home used to be in Pickering. I've learned that the Sobeys on Laird that I used to frequent is now a Farm Boy, which is my closest one. Last Wednesday, I was visiting STACKT Market for the first time. I decided to park in an underground lot attached to Farm Boy. I knew that I wanted to check this grocery store out afterwards. It was also the closest parking lot to STACKT. Entering the lot was straightforward. I was driving from Mississauga. I ended up going north on Bathurst and made a right turn into the lot. There are no barriers that force you to take or insert a ticket. It's the honour system in that you pay for parking at the kiosk near the elevators by entering your licence plate and specifying how long you will be here. The great thing about this Farm Boy is that you get your forty minutes ($2) of parking reimbursed if you spend at least $15 at the store. I find that to be a simple feat. Grabbing what you need within forty minutes is generous. I went to Las Muns across the street to pick up some empanadas and check out STACKT. It didn't take long, as there weren't a ton of businesses open and I was the only customer at Las Muns. I love this Farm Boy store. Everything in the produce section looked neat and fresh. I gawked at all the fresh fruit. It even had a section with cut-up fruit that you can grab and go. I loved all beverages that I saw. Oat. Jarritos. a2 milk. Strawberry banana juice. Rise kombucha. It was exciting! I spent a lot of time in the bakery section. The bread section smelled so good. I found the day-old assorted bun bin. I got the softest set of cheese bagels and brioche buns in a bag for $4. I was so pleased! I made burgers and ate them with my bagel and brioche haul. Delicious! It was cool seeing BeaverTails cookies. I had to get a box of four apple cookies. I loved the cubed apples in each large cookie. The quiche section is amazing. You can get individual portions, half a quiche, or an entire quiche. I went with half a quiche, which lasted a couple of meals. The ham and spinach quiche was yummy and perfect. Front Street Grill is where you can get hot foods. The stir-fry section is cool where you pick the protein and veggies, and it's made right in front of you. There's also a hot bar if you'd like to pick and choose what you'd like. One of these days, I'll do the soup bar. I love soup and can see how deadly it would be for me. I got the nicest man at the checkout. He asked if I needed a bag. I only had three items with me, so I was okay carrying them to my car. I showed him my parking ticket after I saw that my total was over $15 items. He took my ticket, applied the parking credit, and all was good. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. He was kind to hand over my items. I thanked him and headed to the elevators. There are three. One came immediately. I love this store. I look forward to returning to shop here when I'm in the area. Bloorcourt Village Market is an institution in this tiny West side neighborhood. A few months ago…read morethe bad news came down that the family who runs this market would have to vacate their old store location, which was on the next block over. There was such a huge outpouring of grief that the family pledged to remain in the neighborhood. Their new location took a couple of months to open, but I will never forget hearing the news that the new place had finally taken the brown paper out of the windows and opened it's doors. I won't forget it because it was my birthday and my drunken exuberance was unleashed upon the unprepared stranger who gave me the news at around 1am at Disgraceland. When I eagerly entered the new place I immediately told one of the owners that I'd nearly developed scurvy without them. She laughed and said it was great to have such community support. The new store is smaller, possibly by half, but it is now more of a specialty produce and grocery mart. The old location had a lot of room but their nonperishable aisles didn't seem to move a lot of stock. The new location still features some of their old specialties, including a wide range of latino and asian cooking supplies. The produce is always great, with a focus on organic when available. They also have a few cooler cases with drinks and some perishable goods. If you're in the neighborhood, skip the Dufferin Mall nightmare and head straight to this great little store, the jewel of the neighborhood.

The old market was very cramped and had poor lighting, and I was always reluctant to shop there. The new owners are much more friendly. The products are fresh and the selection is good. It's much better than shopping at Metro in terms of price and quality. My only complaint is that the shop is a little small and can get very crowded at peak hours. You can't really shop in one half of the shop because there is a line up of customers.
