The server came back with my drink 1 minute later which was great but then wanted my order...after 1 minute? Please, give customers some time to look at the menu! I waited another ten minutes before another server came to take my order. In the meantime the same server took care of two new tables of customers who had their meals long before me. That is REALLY POOR SERVICE! Also, the servers need to come around a few times. I waited a long time for a refill of hot water while the servers buzzed around refilling coffee for others quite frequently. The menu has lots of variety including all day breakfast and prices were quite affordable. I had the evening special - Tacos with rice and refried beans. It was very good, reasonable portions and priced quite reasonably at $13.19. The kitchen is open concept and you can see everything. That is a double edged sword for the business owners. I was not impressed to see a cook on ladder cleaning ceiling and lights at a time when customers are there. All that dust and dirt is coming down on food prep counters and food directly below. It's a serious health and safety issue. Did any of that junk get in my food? Toppers is OK but I'm in no rush to return.

However, if it's service you're after, chicken strips or breakfast, I cannot in good conscience recommend you go here. In late Feb of 2021 we decided to go for dinner. Service was acceptable (if you don't mind flagging down waitress for a coffee refill), however the chicken strips were incredibly over-cooked and dry. Even my 2 year old (who is happy like most kids that age eating basically anything--dirt included) spit the dry chicken out lol! Forward to today, we thought we'd try it one more time and see how their breakfasts were. Meals came and still no cutlery, so I had to ask for it. Shredded hash browns still had a slight crunch from not being cooked enough (yelp!), and the scrambled eggs were nearly room-temp-clammy-cool. It should be noted that we watched our meals on the 'shelf' in the kitchen, waiting to be delivered, for ~7-8 minutes, so this pretty much explains the lack of heat. Upon paying, I was asked how the meal was by the waitress/cashier and responded by telling her the facts of our experience, listed above. She said she was sorry we weren't happy with it, and said she brought our meals as quick as she could, as if feeling guilty. She seemed somewhat put off by my honesty in sharing the issues, so I told her that I only shared because she had asked me how it was. I honestly wouldn't have mentioned it otherwise. Then, the 'Topper' was to hear the OWNER grumbling under his breath, refusing to make eye contact with me, his customer. I found the battering of the schnitzel to be a tad too doughy for my likely, but it was easy to remove one side of batter and enjoy a slightly lighter meal. It's a cool spot and it was filled with regulars which gives it a homey vibe. They'll accommodate big groups but it's not really the spot for massive group meals. The first time I stopped here I tried the not that expensive Borscht Soup. It tasted more like beets the vegetables more than anything else and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was very filling. The crab meat salad came with lots of fruit pieces on the side which was interesting. The mashed crab meat concoction in the middle was cold like potato salad or coleslaw salad and it was pretty good. I loved the small pieces of crab meat and potatoes! They were tasty. The lemon soufflé was just okay but hard to stop eating. You can't just take one spoon bite, you gotta eat all of that soft fluffy cream because it's delicious and easy to digest. My friend liked his Pecan chocolate pie and he said the chicken soup was okay but I noticed that it didn't have a whole lot of chicken pieces and noodles in it. The place is a bit higher than a 3 but without 1/4 stars Yelp makes it hard to give more accurate reviews. For dinner ? The Donair ! I haven't had one in years and was super excited about finding it on the menu. It did not disappoint! Nothing beats a good Donair . I would say fresh cut fries should be added to the menu . They make meals that much better. Also one thing I like about dinning in Canada is that so many places have fresh cut fries. All in all a good experience. Lovely staff. Good food. Good beer.

Customer service isn't great, and several of the patrons are much to be desired. It's some kind of hang out for local government people who were not the nicest. I was told many times that Mark Carney held an even here during the election - apparently if I was 100 in love with that I should leave. I just didn't want to engage in politics at all.
