I really have no idea what is going on here. The reviews and the food looked so promising online but did not live up to the hype. First things first they are located in a building that is basically a food hall- we went for breakfast and had a heck of a time even finding it. When we got there- ghost town. I was confused if they were even open. Plus a lot of the menu was covered up and we weren't left with a ton of options. For what we spent vs. what we got there's no why I can recommend this. I ended up going with the brisket eggs benedict and it tasted off- really off. I didn't really taste eggs, brisket or sauce. It did come with a side of potatoes but nothing special. The buffalo chicken sandwich was okay, but again wasn't the first choice. I just cannot get over how confused I was getting here, ordering and eating. We honestly thought we were at the wrong restaurant. We wont be back and I would highly recommend checking somewhere else out. read more

Had the brisket hash recently. Very solid, the hash browns are whole potato cubes, the beef brisket they use is plentiful and juicy, and they use a whole sunny side up egg. Service is a little slow here, so keep that in mind for peak times. Everything about this place was superbe! The staff, environment and food were all great. Let me start by saying it has a hipster, rustic vibe to its ambiance. It gave me the impression of what an old school diner might have looked like back in the day. We came here for brunch around noon and it was quite packed inside, so we chose to eat outside with the few tables they had left. I would definitely recommend sitting outside during a summer day! I had the eggs Benedict with the brisket! It came with a side of a potatoes that had the perfect crunch. No complaints from me! My boyfriend ordered a burger that was pretty stacked with goods, but no sides. I would suggest to get a side if you have a larger appetite, but from my eyes the burger does the job! The write ups sounded great and overall it turned out to be an awesome breakfast feast! The plan? don't eat for two days and then go down and order the "Big Brekkie". And big it is. A pile of eggs, amazing harsh browns, great toast, and a selection of two meats. I went for the brisket and the bacon. The bacon was to die for. The smokiness came through big time. The brisket was a little disappointing, a bit dry and over-cooked. The egg yolks were to order, easy over, but the whites were a little charred. Great coffee. This would be my first time coming to Miss Browns. At first impression, it is hard to tell that the shop was once a Subway joint. The interior is gorgeous, and I love the "wood" sign that is located at the back of the shop (although I think it would look much better if they had installed it on the grey brick wall that's in front of the shop). I ordered a large latte and the brisket hash and fried egg with green onions and sriracha mayo/aioli. My latte was perfect, and probably one of the better lattes I've had. Their coffee beans are sourced from Stumptown Coffee Roasters. The hash was delicious, but as I continued to eat, I found the brisket to start becoming saltier, so I recommend getting a big glass of water to go along with it (which is self-served and located against the wall by the entrance, along with condiments, such as sriracha and tabasco). I went to Miss Browns a couple weeks ago for the first time, and my high expectations were met. I got the smoked salmon eggs Benedict with potatoes. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the smoked salmon and capers worked so well together. And straight up the potatoes were the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had, they were so crispy and salted just the right amount. Also the staff were very friendly and the food came out fast. Over all I was very pleased with my visit, and next time I'm in the exchange I'll be sure to stop by again. read more

Winnipeg is having a love-fest with hand crafted sandwich shops - this the fourth one I've tried in the last few months after King + Bannatyne, Nick's on Broadway and Sherbrook Street Deli. Miss Browns is located on William Avenue, just around the corner from Old Market Square off King Street. This used to be a Subway shop but has not been renovated into a bright space that serves up fresh handcrafted sandwiches and coffee. This place seats about 30 people, one big communal table in the middle, counter stool seats facing the window and some two tops lining one side of the space. They use a wood smoker to cook the meats and are the only Cafe/Coffee shop in Winnipeg the sells "Stumptown Coffee" from Portland Oregon. They also source all the products from local producers. You order and pay first, these sandwiches are made fresh and then hot pressed. Sandwiches range from $6.50 to $10, sides are extra for $2.50 for salad or soup or $4 for a larger portion. One of the negatives from this place was the service, unfortunately the person taking food order/payment was a bit scowly. I asked for a detail on one of the sandwiches (which was not listed on the board) and she seemed annoyed by that because she didn't know and had to ask one of her coworkers. She would have been better off making the sandwiches than greeting the public. Smoked Brisket, Fennel Slaw, Spicy Pickled Pepperoncini Peppers, BBq Sauce on Brioche ($10) was unfortunately quite dry but if it was more juicy, it would have been a great sandwich so I'm hoping this was a one off thing. The bbq sauce was not overpower and the fennel slaw really complimented the meat, also loved the brioche. MISS B'S - 3 Cheese Grilled Cheese on rye ($6.50) - I think the cheese selection changes and I can't remember the combination of my recent visit though it was a tad salty. Would taste great with some fruity or jam to offset the cheese. My favorite was the special: smoked lamb, Mint sauce, Greens, Tomato ($10) - awesome and delicious. The lamb was so juicy and tender and the mint sauce was perfect with it. I look forward to coming back and trying their coffee and breakfast. Despite the dry brisket, which I suspect was an off day since the lamb was so good, I'm definitely coming back to try more sandwiches. So when one is wandering around a new town they tend to get hungry. Miss Browns caught my eye only because it is the girlfriend ( who was back home) maiden name. So hey why not pay homage by eating here first. Then the hard part comes in. Once you break thy plane that is the entrance you are then punished by having to decide what to eat. Do you have breakfast? brunch? Lunch? As you scan the menu board sprawled across the wall you know your decision will not be way, but wait. As you stand there you are looking at what is being made in the kitchen and passing by you to go to customers wait. As any good foodie will do at times they will ask the person at the counter "hey what do you recommend" to which the reply was anything here is really good. After pressing her and contemplating grabbing a chair and a bright light she said the brisket. Finally getting that out of her without torture was a good thing but then one has to figure out which brisket choice. I went with the beef brisket donar. Yeah this is fabulous! Each bite leaves one slightly closer to heaven. The meat is perfectly cooked, the ingredients flow together as they past though the mouth. 10/10 brunch for offering a choice between smoked brisket, salmon or ham on eggs Benedict. I had the pulled brisket Benedict, which was tender but way too salty. They didn't go too heavy on the hollandaise, which was nice. The Bloody Mary I had was nothing special but it was nice they had it there. Oh yeah, potatoes were a bit dry. It's a diner but seems to have many sandwich and breakfast offers, and the place gets crowded fast on a weekend after 10am. Terrible front end person. Asked me to sanitize which I agreed ( naturally even though I just sanitized before I walked in) then to use qr code to fill out. I did use qr code but was having trouble and asked him for help. He told me he doesn't have a smart phone so he didn't know how. Other customers coming right up to me to scan qr code which wasn't important to him. Bottom line poor customer service and I just left. Do not patronize any restaurant that have employee that is not helpful and not inviting. I eat out minimum once a day and usually more often. Will never return!! read more

I just returned from having breakfast there. I was TOTALLY NOT impressed. THE SERVICE THERE was non existent. No coffee severed. No salt and pepper shakers. You rarely see your waitress The cooks had baseball caps with long squiggly hair to their chin. It was cold there, the whole time. Needless to say, the first time in my life I offered NO TIP. By far my fave breakfast place in town! The service was amazing and the food was even better. I ordered the brisket hash which had some of the most flavorful brisket I've ever tasted. My first visit was ok, but today I found a hair in my pressed egg sandwich. I'm not the type to complain, but my friend who works in food service went up to let one of the servers know. She responded with an "oh sorry" and didn't offer to rectify the situation in any way. I wasn't given an apology nor did anyone come talk to me and instead had to feel nauseated and ignored for the rest of my time there. If you want good food AND good service, do yourself a favour and go to Clementine a few streets over or any of the Stella's locations in the city. Just because you take the customers money upfront doesn't mean you can forget about them the rest of the time that they're in your restaurant. I was in the area looking for a quick coffee and bite to eat before catching the bus. All I ordered was a large latte, which was pretty good and hit the spot. I looked over the menu while I was in line and it looked good. If I had more time I would have ordered- their Veggie sandwich sounded pretty decent as did their breakfasts. They serve breakfast items all day which is a win with me! There was a group seated near the entrance and all the burger dishes were served with house made chips. Miss Browns is a cafe that serves breakfast and sandwiches located in the Exchange District. The place itself is pretty casual. You place your order in at the front and the server brings your meal to your table when the it is ready. I had the Big Brekkie, which is a typical classic breakfast that comes with a bit of everything (including toast, eggs, meat and potatoes). What I was pleased with was that it came with smoked beef briskets, which made the meal more unique and appetizing. Went here recently and had the Mushrooms on Toast, which is just that plus a couple of poached eggs. The girlfriend had the Eggs Benedict. The food is excellent and the service was friendly. My only issue is that they charge extra for sides. Call me old school, but I think if you're gonna pay this much for a breakfast sandwich, you should be getting the hashbrowns included in that price.
