Yesterday, I was eating at this restaurant around 10 pm with a friend of mine. There were two men in the restaurant that wouldn't stop staring at us, they were mouthing things that I couldn't understand, and when we told them to stop, it worsened. He continued to stare without breaking eye contact, and eventually came over and got in our faces. They yelled obscenities at us, called us sexist names, and said appalling things about us to the staff. The staff not only didn't help the situation, they AGREED with the two men that we were "whores and racists" for not giving them the attention they wanted and asking them to stop bothering us. After this happened, we got up immediately and demanded to leave, given the harassment that occurred thus far. The staff refused to let us leave, insisting we had to be pay, and they also didn't provide us with a safe exit to get past our harassers. The men continued to yell at us, and we insisted they get rid of them immediately, given that they had already paid and had NO REASON to stay in the restaurant. The workers made little to no effort in getting them out, and instead they said to us "they were kidding, they're just drunk, just don't respond to them, they aren't talking about you". Basically, they were saying "these men can say whatever they want to you, but you shouldn't say anything to them, and we aren't really going to do anything either". Our safety, experience, and overall wellbeing were completely compromised within their establishment, and it was unacceptable. Furthermore, after they FINALLY made the men go outside, they told us we could not leave because it would be unsafe. So while they knew it was unsafe for us, they had no intention of doing anything about it. They forced us to pay the whopping 12 euros for our meal, which we didn't even eat, offered us no water, no additional service while we sat in the restaurant waiting for the yelling men who were flipping us off through the window to hopefully leave and not wait for us to come outside. They would walk by the table and say with a smile "it's okay, it's okay", to which it was in NO WAY okay. This type of sexist, misogynistic service is NEVER OKAY, and nobody deserves to be treated that way anywhere, nonetheless, while they are dining in somebody's restaurant. Shame on those men for acting that way, but moreover, shame on the owner and the staff who agreed with the awful names they called us and who never protected our safety. Y'all are trash. read more
