I initially wanted a bob but she persuaded me to do something different, and it turned out to be the right decision, so many people have complimented my new look! She did a wonderful job on my bangs and the layers are seamless. The blow-dry, which was done by someone else, was also done well, not too crazy. My hair looked like it had naturally lots of volume. The long version: When I called to book my appointment a young child answered the phone. This should possibly have been my first clue that this establishment was not very professional. When I arrived (ON TIME) for my appointment, I was told to come back in 30min as they had just opened up..... I mean, really!?!? I waited inside and after 20 minutes a random lady walked in off the streets asking to have her eyebrows threaded (without having booked an appointment). They took both of us downstairs where I was told to wait on the couch and had to watch this lady have her eyebrows done. Such a waste of my time. After the beautician had finished this ladies eyebrows she took me into a cold little room, and my wax began. Oh my gosh! It was brutal! I hve been having a hollywood wax for over 10 years and none have been as bad as this. The lady seemed like a trainee. She seemed unsure as to which direction to pull the hair at times, causing unnecessary pain; she left multiple patches at the end (even after I had pointed them out to her); she placed the dirty wax strips on top of my clothes; her boobs knocked my arm awkwardly about 10 times as the room was so tiny.... overall a terrible experience. I walked in very cautious because with a stylist who is a stranger, a lot can be misunderstood - plus, I have hair almost to my waist, and after encountering some stylists who seemed to feel like a few extra unasked inches off was not a big deal (wut), I am scared of new stylists... but no need for fear, here! Hiro is very attentive and listens very carefully, and clearly had no agenda but to apply his expertise to my direction. Hiro cut my hair dry so I could make adjustments as we saw the progress; he was very conservative at my request, and didn't complain in the least when I reconsidered my asks twice and wanted to cut even more to address the dry ends. It was clear I could trust him not to overdo it, which made me trust his judgement. After the main trim, he did a fantastic wash and head massage, used the dryer on only medium heat (which is so much better for your hair!) and did a little more touch-up trimming once my hair was fully blown out.
