The salon itself isn't anything special, and if it wasn't for the quality and skill of the hairdresser I use (who I believe is also the salon manager) then I probably wouldn't bother as it doesn't have any other appeal. In its defence, it was refurbished fairly recently and is a very nice place but then so are most of the salons in the town - good, but the haircut is more important to me, and that's where they score 5 stars. Although they mainly do ladies hair, I've seen the occasional gent or child there, and they have a full complement of services available. It's nice to feel confident in the abilities of your hairdresser, and trust them to actually do what you wanted with your hair without any nasty shocks. Fiona is well spoken about in the local area, and I'm sure I'm not the only person locally who uses this salon because of her scissor skills!

So this review is for "my" hairdresser at DS. So yeah, Jen is awsome! She knows what I want and satisfies my style requests errrytime! She's also cool as! and is a super friendly person. Maybe because I've became a more familiar face we have a lot more to chat about, but when I throw back to the first time chop, it was just as A-Star as the current times. So when she returns in September 2013 and you find yourself needing a gents or ladies haircut then I'd recommend Jen. In the meantime I'll have to scout out a replacement other than the one off GC's (Girlfriend Cuts). \\ S O M E I N F O O N DS // - DS prices are quite competitive for the hyper Hairdresser filled Linlithgow High Street and being located right bang in the centre (at the cross) is ideal for finding the salon. - At £10 for a gents cut is pretty good going and as far as free Teas & Coffees go, I'm pretty sure if you asked for one they would give you it. When I judgement day came, I was sat down in the swively chair in front of the class mirror and after some initial chatting it was discovered that he used to be a stylist and was just filling in for Jen as she was on Maternity leave. The time taken to cut my hair is usually about 20 minutes and is a good amount of time I feel for this. This time however the haircut only seemed to last for around 10 minutes and I felt the quality of time and effort wasn't seen when cutting my hair. It was very rapid chopping without any real care or attention happening. It did feel that he was rushing things. - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - \\ D O N T F R E T T T H O U G H // So, I don't actually want this to discourage people from going to DS as I was using this as an example of how some stylists can let down the reputation of other great stylists (in my point of view). My first visit was with Gerry, on arriving he took the time to listen to me and my concerns. He talked with me about my cut and hair colour and made me feel at ease in DS. After my first appointment I was so happy with the transformation of my hair! I have been back to DS quite a few times now to have my hair cut and coloured by Gerry, each time im sooooo happy with the results :) DS has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the staff are all so friendly and the free tea and chocolate biscuit are such a great touch! I now find myself looking forward to my visits at DS with Gerry as he has put my faith back in hairdressers and I even enjoy him washing my hair! Can't wait till my next visit!

I have been to this salon several times to get my hair cut and each time I leave feeling completely fabulous! From the moment you walk into the salon you feel like a valued customer as all the staff are incredibly friendly. Each time I have been it has always been very busy, although I have always managed to get an appointment at the last minute which is a bonus. Getting my hair washed at Medusa is definitely my favourite aspect of the hairdressing experience. They lather your hair in the most delicious smelling shampoo and massage your head for a wee while which is so relaxing! My hairdresser was very friendly and understood exactly what it was I was after. The prices start at £32 for a ladies hair cut and blow dry which I first thought was a little bit expensive but having been and experienced the service, I found that it was very worth it. They do offer student discounts which start at 10%. Medusa also has a beauty salon in its hairdressing store and offers manicures and pedicures.

I am delighted with my new style. One of the main reasons I picked this place is because they have a website with the prices outlined and some shots of previous work. They don't take card so it meant I knew how much I needed to bring with me before I left the house. They're a small salon but you're not on display for all the word to see so the place feels intimate and friendly. Ohh and also they do just the best coffee. I really do recommend them to anyone who's in Galashiels and nearby.
