The doggy spa is a big room out the back where all the dogs wait for their treatments, and then get spoilt rotten and pampered. Lola was a bit scared when we handed her leash to the girl, but when we returned an hour later, she was totally loving the staff and this place. There were lots of other dogs for her to play with too. The Pet Pad offers other services including Pawdicures (pedicure for the paws!), Pet Day Care (either a half or full day of toys, treats, games, soft beds, in-house movies and loads of snuggles, awwww), Dog walking, Pet sitting and even house calls! The owner Emma is a serious pet lover and offers a luxurious service for your pets. Lola came out smelling so clean and lovely!

A Google search for "dog groomer brisbane" led me to many a website but none of them quite made me feel comfortable in my decision to let them groom my dog as The Pet Pad. Knowing the suburb it operates in, I knew there'd be no way the pooches of New Farm and surrounds would continue to visit here if they weren't good at what they do. I dropped him off yesterday for a "feet, face and tail" grooming session and after showing the staff member a photo of past grooming disasters to demonstrate what I didn't want, I knew, from her facial expression, we were on the same page. Less than an hour later I was on my way back to pick him up. The grooming a success. He still looked like a dog and not an old man with mutton chops. But like Sun E said in her review, the price is so very reasonable for the service. I would have expected I'd be parting with a lot more for the quality of grooming he received. Having moved to the area, the faithful pooch's care was recently transferred to Mitchelton Vets mostly due the their proximity. They're located on Blackwood Street and with on-site parking there's no need to worry about trying to find a street park. Much like doctors surgery, there's nothing too outwardly different than any other vet surgery and, much like a doctor surgery you hope you never have to spend a lot of time in them. On the two occasions I've taken our dog here, the team have been helpful, on-time and affordable. They'll even send your pet insurance claim on to your provider on your behalf.

Located in Red Hill Brisbane the little café entrance leads you downstairs to the reception area. When you arrive you are greeted and check-in and then ask to read and agree to some rules................simple rules like: wash you hands before and after you visit the cats, leave sleeping cats to snooze in peace, no loud noises that could scare the little fluffy wanabe Lion cubs. Due to Australian Health and Safety requirements the barrister is located in the reception area which is catless and you can order up your favourite coffee and can take this into the cat lounge. You can view the cats whilst you wait for your timeslot to start and you can see that the lounge is a real cat space. Cat toys, beds, tunnels, a cat running wheel and I even found a mini cat tent make this space cat heaven. There is also an outdoor area too where the little ones can bask in the sun and get some fresh air. When I visited there were a range of cats, some very lively kittens in addition to some very relaxed older cats who seemingly preferred to bask in the sun and watch the kittens do 100m sprints than bother to lift paw and partake in any exercise whatsoever. There is a cat profile wall in the cat lounge so you can look up the names of your favourite fur ball in addition to seeing their friends who have found new homes. There is a table and sofa to take a seat at but be careful you don't disturb a resting cat who may have already claimed a chair for themselves. All in all this is a rather lovely business that is really focused on helping rescue cats find great new homes. So if you are on the hunt for a cat why not visit Cat Cuddle Café to find your perfect feline partner? It is only $10 per person per visit for up to 1 hour and you really get to see the personality of the cats and can chose one that will best get on with you. And before I go on to catalogue the impressive animal inventory on offer I'd like to point out that these guys do not support the ethically dubious practice of 'puppy farming' that some other bigger chains do, instead adopting out cats and dogs (not necessarily the cute juvenile ones) from animal welfare groups in an admirable not-for-profit venture. Kudos guys... OK, public service message aside these guys have: birds, fish, cute as a button baby turtles, lizards (blue-tongues, various 'dragons'), snakes and even pet insects. That's right, INSECTS ( I spotted some very interesting and well camouflaged leaf insects for sale)! Their range of healthy pet food has equal 'wow' factor. They don't…read moresell puppies or kittens which I think is the most important way of judging a pet store because pet stores that sell puppies and kittens not only support puppy farms and dodgy breeders, but also encourage the impulse purchase of an animal that requires a great deal of commitment. The staff at Petbarn are knowledgeable and helpful, and are all animal lovers with lots of experience in pet care. The range of fish and aquarium products here is excellent and they have staff dedicated specifically to helping you establish and maintain your own aquarium. Another thing I like about Petbarn is that pets on leads are welcome, so if you need to get your dog a new collar for example, you can actually bring them in to see what fits (and you can count on them getting cuddles and treats from the staff as well!). Petbarn has a wide variety of pet products including foods, grooming products, accessories, toys, and treats. They also sell some medications such as worming and flea treatments. The staff here are happy to consult with you about whatever pet advice you need. Many times I've come into Petbarn to seek advice about my fish tank and have had a long, helpful conversation with a staff member and then gone home without needing to buy anything because the staff don't push you to buy things in return for their help. For this reason, whenever I need to buy anything for my dogs or aquarium, I head to Petbarn. They also have a customer loyalty card and lots of information about obedience, puppy pre-school, and other pet activities.

I have put three dogs through the Coltrandi live in obedience training and I cannot recommend it highly enough. And my dogs absolutely love going there. From traumatised rescues to my most recent dog that went through training (Pembroke corgi) they all come back to me happy, healthy, smelling lovely and are amazing with obedience. My dogs love all the staff. My corgi was so excited to get pats from Col it was like he was her personal doggy God or rockstar. And he's a rockstar to all the other dogs too. It's super sweet to see how much they love him and the affection and care he gives them. It's clear my dogs and all dogs that stay at Coltrandi are treated with love and kindness. Thanks team! Glancing at the beer and tablet line-up, I felt like I was in the equivalent of a dream toy shop for dogs where they also sell beer and smokes. This large store sells an insane amount of toys for your pet. There's stuff for cats, birds, fish and other pets, but as I have a dog it was mostly dog-specific products I focused on. The dog selection seemed to take up a large proportion of the store, and there's even a dog (a surprisingly docile Chihuahua) that sleeps on the front counter. (He's six, called Louis, and likes pats but not being held.) Besides a huge selection of toys - so much you can't take it all in in one visit - there's other stuff to pimp out your pet, including a doggy clothing rack if your pet is that way inclined. The Pet Cafe also boasts a wide range of health foods for dogs, particularly those suffering from health issues (e.g. calcium deficiency, obesity - general medical issues that also seem common to humans). The store stocks both Science Diet and Advance food and health products. In terms of The Unhealthy, the front counter showcases an assortment of doggy cookies and chocolates (actually made of carob) that are home-made looking. They weren't as expensive as I thought they'd be, but I'd bought enough stuff here already. The counter staff were also incredibly friendly and chatty, which you'd gather from a business where there is a resident pet.

Katie in particular was just so kind and caring and full of great ways to help Snoopy settle in with us and gave us some samples of food to try him on as he's had been very fussy and nervous about eating. Look forward to coming back in a few weeks to show him off after we've washed him in his new shampoo and conditioner and we've figured out what he really does like to eat.
