Today March 19, 2020 we had the extreme good fortune to contact and speak with Mrs Lisa M. located in the Florence, Ky branch of the Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission. After explaining our concern for obtaining a comprehensive answer for assistance on the Medicare premium for our disabled son, she immediately took charge and assured my wife and me that she would help and assist us with whatever it took to get an acceptable answer. She openly explained Commonwealth agencies such as Medicaid and waiver programs such as MichelleP were not her area of expertise but that she would do everything we need to get to someone who knew the details/answers needed. After an approximate 20+ minute phone conversation with Medicaid and the Department of Community Based Service, DCBS, we, we and Lisa, reached a knowledgeable DCBS expert who understood and expertly explained the working of the system and how we would be getting the assistance we were looking. Lisa M. was able without the knowledge but the ownership of our need to get results heretofore were unavailable, so we thought. We told Lisa how grateful we were for her dedication to us and the professionalism she displayed took years of anxiety away. We not only would encourage anyone trying to navigate Federal and State health agencies to call Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission but urge ALL Boone Countians needing healthcare assistance to contact Lisa Meier. So impressed with this group. You seriously could not find a better group of staff and volunteers to run such an important organization. They're so nice, would bend over backwards to help someone, and continue to work hard even when a pandemic tries to get in the way! Love this group and the work they do.

It is the best place to volunteer sporadically and they have a lot of open availability. This year I wanted to do something for my birthday, giving back to the community and I was able to organize an event for my friends to get together and do. It was amazing. We hung candy on Christmas trees for A-Kid-Again. And they were nice enough to throw in a tour of the grounds as well, which made it even more special.

They provide shelter, food and personal items for people in need on a daily basis. Last Christmas when my family wanted to help out with gifts for someone less fortunate, I contacted this agency and was given a list of a family's requests, which I then shopped for and delivered to Welcome House. Sometimes when I pass by this agency it seems there is often a line out front of individuals waiting for it to open. That makes me think they're doing good things to help out the less fortunate.
