I noticed Buckwheat seemed to be getting skinner in my last few visits but being an hour away I was reliant on Sarah. I couldn't visit often and was paying 400$ in the belief my mare was taken care of. After telling Sarah I would be moving to a facility closer to me (I was charged 200$ for two days of board since she wasn't moved before the month was over) I noticed Buckwheat started looking worse. By the time she was moved she was 300lbs underweight, covered in cuts (her excuse was horses will be horses), had swollen legs, and the heels of her hooves were cut so short she couldn't walk properly. The vet told me to put her down but I wanted to try EXPENSIVE shoes before going this route. It took a year to get her in good shape again & her front hooves "can never be barefoot" due to the damage done. If you board here I recommend you visit daily and use your own farrier. The facility is gorgeous and Sarah is nice but if you can't visit daily I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Photos of my mare after being moved are attached. Oh & her husband "accidentally" used my tack despite her policy of not using others tack without permission. It wasn't damaged but a pricey brand new contour saddle pad I wouldn't want to share. Boarding here cost me thousands in vet in farrier bills.

On Easter my 13 year old daughter's horse suddenly coliced. As any horse owner knows, this is a…read morevery distressing event. We called Tennessee Equine for an emergency visit. Dr. Christina Frost and a tech came out and met us at the barn. Our horse is a special guy who's overcome 2 previous owners who were severely abusive. He's not the easiest horse to work with but he was certainly in a low energy state due to the amount of gastric pain he was experiencing. Dr. Christina looked him over, listened for gut sounds, swabbed his nose for labs, and then decided to tube him in order to remove excess fluid from his stomach. The tube was inserted into his nasal passage without the use of any lubrication. This was obviously painful for our horse and he started to bleed from this nostril. He put up a bit of a fight before being given sedation. At this point Dr. Christina walked over to her vehicle and proceeded to call our horse, "A Dick" in front of my 13 year old and 11 year old daughters. She told us he "probably just has Banamine Flu". Meaning there's nothing wrong with him and he just needed some Banamine. The next morning our boy was far, far worse. We called for Dr. Christina to come back to the barn. She arrived with a different tech and decided to tube him again to remove fluid from his gut. Again, no lubrication was used, and again he bled from his nose. Even in this weakened state our horse put up a bit of struggle with the painful tubing. This time Dr. Christina slapped our horse directly in the face and continued her use of foul language, dropping the F-Bomb around my children. During all of this my 13 year old is in tears, worried sick about her best friend and having to watch him be treated this way. We then called in a different equine vet who was able to treat our horse with kindness and professionalism. She stalled him, used lubrication for the tubing and he didn't fight back at all. He was a very sick boy and ended up receiving in patient treatment at an equine medical facility. We have contacted TN Equine to discuss our deep concerns with the service we received from them. They have not responded. We are somewhat new to horse ownership, but many owners at our barn who are more experienced than us, and witnessed this event, say we should file a formal complaint with the state of TN.
