This is my 3rd visit here. I love the park for many reasons. It is gated, clean, close to riverwalk, and they have a great walking/biking trail. I had family stay in cabins there since they don't have RVs and have enjoyed it. The activities, available food for purchase, playground and fishing is all you need for a camp ground. One of the staff's children wasn't so nice to my niece, but the rest of the staff was just fine and typically are. read more

We loved it. Easy check-in. Jeff the manager at time was very professional and helpful. We had a guide drive us to our site. Ample parking for my 45 foot RV with jeep in tow. Great amenities, pool was very lovely and refreshing. We stayed two days. Close to the Alamo and River Walk. We met super nice campers near us and shared lots of laughs and stories. We didn't intend to stay on San Antonio for two weeks, but that's just what happened due to RV and car issues. The KOA here has been great. They had a bunch of holiday festivities and fun things for the kids, including a train ride, movie night, hot chocolate, ice cream social, crafts, and more. The grounds and facilities are updated and nice. We got a site right next to the playground, which was very convenient. The lodge area has a bunch of board games and a lovely Christmas tree. The hall has giant connect 4, tables for hanging out, and lots of space for kids. The cafe has cheap pancakes which my kids have described as the best pancakes they've ever had. The campground is located about 5 miles from downtown, so it's pretty convenient. We were even able to take our e-bikes into town when we didn't have our car. Great overall experience. read more

Tons of things to do. Little restaurant on site. Good grassy areas for dogs. Only here for the night but seems clean. The location is weird....it's basically in an industrial-ish area in the city and it's gated. Probably will look for location in a prettier area next time through. read more

We recently stayed here as a layover on our way home. I have to admit, the location is very sketchy and in the center of big rig businesses. There are 18 wheelers driving by all day long. We have a large set up, dually and 45ft 5th wheel. Our pull through spots was a little tight to get into because they are all back and forth spots. So our neighbors had their truck parked right at the edge of the spot we had to pull into. We made it work, barely. However, the grounds were very nice. My kids loved the playground and there was a football game going on all day long for my boys to take part in. My smaller kids loved the train ride. Super cute gift shop. We did not explore the city, we have been there before. The pool was FREEZING and very little shade. We will definitely stay here again for a layover if needed. read more

Mgr Kelly is awesome ! She truly cares. Every one worked hard to make campground clean during my stay. The security and lighting around the park needs improvements with the thefts that happened in my short stay. Upper Mgt seemed almost unfeeling towards the theft and campers loss. The situation was handles unprofessionally by upper mgt on duty the day of the incident in my opinion. There are shaded spots and the bus does pick up right at the campground which is VERY convienient to downtown and river walk. The head maintenance guy introduced himself to me as an ass hole and he TRULY is!! His appearance, demeanor and antisocial behavior is unprofessional especially representing a KOA. We took our grandkids here for 4 days over spring break, ages 8 & 10. We had an absolute wonderful time!! Staff was great, amenities were clean and well maintained. There were activities for the kids in the afternoon. Relaxing areas to watch the kids play. The pool area was lovely, however the water was cold after some lower temps. Great location to the Alamo and River Walk. There is bus service right in front of the gate. We can't wait to come back here again! The camp store was well stocked And reasonably priced. read more

Very large and well maintained campground. There's a nice bike and walking trail next to it as well. The dog park is really nice. There's a lot of places to walk your dog. The Patio grill had a decent breakfast also. Uber frequents the place. Staff were very friendly. The day I stayed an RV caught fire. Staff and the fire department responded very fast. Clean up the bed bugs. The property is nice and have a lot to offer for a day visit but I would recommend tent or RV camp DO NOT USE THEIR CABINS unless you want to be bit and possibly take bugs home. I personally woke up to a blood filled bed bug right by my newborns head. My family of 5 packed up and left at 3am after discovering the bug. I was refunded 100% though. I really hate this happened because my children were discouraged to even explore the activities they have after this. I absolutely loved how beautiful the property was and still wanted to explore. Maybe one day I'll return and atleast enjoy the amenities. read more

We arrived at the gate after driving a few miles through a light industrial area and the guard indicated where to park. I was asked to pull up to the line meanwhile my wife was in the office where they check ID, address, phone number, tag number and you present Visa or MC; no AMEX. We followed a cart to the site and he stopped and checked that we were lined up with the hookups. I've never seen this before; nice touch. The park is all worn paved roads and gravel sites. They have RV and tents sites, and cabins and small houses. Some of the RV sites have nicer picnic pads than others. The park has a short order carry out restaurant with a indoor and order eating areas next to it if you wish to sit. They have sundaes in the afternoon. Young kids have a nice playground to use and a pond to fish in from a finished area or the grass. Behind the park is a paved wide trail of concrete and asphalt that goes from mile 3ish to 8ish so perhaps there's more planned. There are trail monitors so perhaps they had trouble at some point. I also saw multiple police cars at the trail access points and there's a police station near the Circle K. You can get to the AT&T Center, Circle K and some hotels using this trail. The trash bins bins are well maintained here. You can drop your stuff or have it outside before 10AM. There's a bus stop across the street for transportation downtown; about 20 minutes, 1.30 per person each way and if you overpay that's the way it rolls. The park will provide change. The bus driver will drop you directly in front of the park on the way back. It's about a two hour walk if you wish to go through some industrial areas. We're big walkers and decided not to and suggest you also do not. The staff are helpful. They are also strict which is good for security here. I wish they locked the gates after hours and pass keys were used. The Wi Fi is flaky. read more

OK, it's nice, it's clean, it's dog and kid friendly, people are good, fishing pond, propane, "Yada yada, yada." What we really liked was the convenience to downtown, (like 10 minutes) and there is a wonderful green belt walkway right there for bicycle or walking trail. It runs along a the San Antonio river. We enjoy a great hike daily. The wild flowers would surprise us with their beauty. A Tornado came by very close last week and gave us a scare, then the creek rose well out of its banks for another weird experience. Then the coup de grace was the hail storm that dented up our airstream and truck. All that considered, we enjoyed our experience at this campground. We will stay again! read more

We had a reservation for Tuesday January 21, 2025. Due to an ice and snow storm hitting the Houston area we could not drive to San Antonio, in fact the state and local officials told us to stay off of the roads. We have a 40' class A Motorhome and were towing a trailer. It definitely was not safe to travel! Yet the Alamo KOA would not refund our money because local conditions were ok to travel. The San Antonio area didn't get the snow and ice we did, in fact I don't think they got any! We had at least 4.5" of snow at our house and lots of ice on the roads. We have stayed at this KOA multiple times over the last 10 plus years but will no longer do business with them due to their greedy, unreasonable business practices and lack of common sense. If I could give them less than 1 star I would! Our last stay with them in December was not a good experience either! read more

Everyone here was extremely friendly and helpful. We had so much fun here. We ran into friends that I hadn't seen in almost 10 years and we made new friends that came over for drinks and some s'mores one evening. In the evening hours, we saw an employee drive by on a golf cart quite a few times so we felt everything was safe. You can have pizza delivered to your campsite as well as ice and firewood. Also, we were carrying a couple small bags of garbage when an employee on a golf cart saw us and swung around and told us to put it in the cart, and he would dispose of it for us. I thought that was really nice of him since that is not his job. They also have pedal bikes to rent and a fully stocked catch and release pond up front by the pool, as well as a nicely paved and tree covered walking trail in the back by the river. My only complaints would be that I'm not a fan of gravel sites because when the rocks under the levelers start to shift and settle, the trailer becomes unsteady. Also, there's a major design flaw on the placement of the black tank disposal at the site which just happens to be within a foot or two from the next campsites picnic table, so if it's a clear elbow (like most have), you could be looking at poo quite often. read more

Enjoyed staying here a couple times on our way through San Antonio during the pandemic. Was able to get some electric & water sites near the edge of the campground right next to the trail. Enjoyed taking the dogs and walking around the area as well as up the trail. Spaces are decently sized with working hookups and friendly staff. Didn't take advantage of most of the other amenities due to the desire to remain socially distanced from other guests, but enjoyed the environment and location. The staff was great, as usual, and we will likely to continue to stay here anytime we pass through San Antonio. read more

I was able to snag a last minute, tent spot for one night - two days before the eclipse. I just needed a place to sleep overnight since I already had a spot for eclipse day. Check in was smooth and easy, even though they were very busy. It is a shame that the patio cafe doesn't accept cash. The bathhouse is clean, which is always a good thing. read more

This KOA park is very comfortable and well-maintained, staff is friendly and helpful. Private, gated entrance to the park, big drive thru sites are available, great internet and cable connections. They have been doing the KOA thing for the past 50 years and they have defiantly got all the bugs worked out. Our last night here was busy packing and loading the Jeep so we ordered dinner from the office. A small pizza and 10 winds and they were delivered to our site. Good food and great service. This is out second time staying here, after four months in Mexico with an RV caravan. It's a great place to camp. It is small enough that you can't get lost and big enough to have most everything. It is close to the freeway. The staff is superb. The pool is adequate. There is a no-license catch-and-release fishing pond. A really nice bike/jogging path with a total of 8.5 miles of run is right next to the park with easy access. And, the thing we needed most, they have a preferred list of mobile RV repairmen! And it's close to all the culture and tourism of San Antonio. read more

Beautiful campground. Green with tree canopy throughout and adjacent to a stream side bike path. Clean facilities: bathrooms, showers, swimming pool, laundry, even simple breakfast and dinner items available for purchase from small kitchen. Perfect location to base while exploring missions and river walk areas. From the campground it is possible to catch a bus to the river walk if you don't want to deal with parking. But We had our dog and did not have a carrier to take him on bus so we drove ourselves to the riverwalk. Would love to return if in San Antonio area again. read more

We stayed here last summer, during covid, for the entire summer as my husband had work in San Antonio. Our stay was great, the staff were very kind! The groundsmen do a good job keeping the grounds well kept and in order. They also have olive trees and a couple other fruit trees that do bear fruit. The campgrounds are clean and well maintained. Staff was super friendly. Cafe was good. The only part that was iffy was the surrounding area... I guess from what we learned is that East San Antonio is a little bit rough. I'd recommend getting necessities sooner than later if you are able to. Otherwise the HEB grocery store is around the corner but nerve wrecking. Makes sense why the camp grounds are gated. read more

I stayed there for two weeks, then abruptly I was asked to leave on the 4th of July weekend, because one of their employees, Dale, did not like my service dog being allowed into non-dog areas!! They then claimed that I left the dog unattended after they were told by the POLICE that the ADA allows me to have the service dog with me in some of the non-dog areas on their site!! Ooops!! Because they are a family owned franchise, and private property, and Dale is married to the owners dayghter, I was,told to leave. If it weren't for the police, they would not have refunded any of my money!! Service members!! Support your disabled veterans with service dogs!! Choose a different camp ground!! read more
