My experience in Judge Arthur Benner II's courtroom has been a nightmare. It seems as though the documents I have submitted have not been thoroughly reviewed, while the other parent has repeatedly given additional opportunities despite ongoing issues. Had I been in the same position, I don't believe I would have received the same level of leniency. Whether intentional or not, the process left me questioning whether both parties were being treated equally. Family court decisions have a profound impact on parents and children, and every litigant deserves to know that all evidence has been carefully reviewed and that both sides are held to the same standards. It's been the same cycle over and over again. The judge orders us to attend mediation, we return to court, and once the hearing is over, the mother of my kids continues to disregard the court orders. Despite this repeated pattern, nothing seems to change, and there are little to no consequences for failing to comply. As a result, the issues remain unresolved, and we're back in court dealing with the same problems repeatedly. It's frustrating to feel like the process isn't leading to accountability or meaningful progress. read more

The Holly Grail of the definition of garbage. The entitled staff and supervisors are uneducated, unprofessional, rude and disrespectful. Not only are they not there to help you; they're also going to make sure to treat you like cattle, and with a sense of arrogance. You're going to run to them in the hallways talking to each other; "oh hey Cinthia, oh hi Brenda! did you try my enchilada stack?" "Oh you made that?" Meanwhile their hallways smell like urine and . They'd be more useful if you'd give them a mop. At least they'd look like they're being productive. They have posts literally all over the clerk filing windows and the hallways that indicate what can and cannot be filed after 3:00 p.m. Literally posted all over; but none of that matters; they're going to make rules as they go. Don't allow staff to treat you with disdain. They work for US. They get paid with our tax money. The least they can do is treat us with some sort of dignity. We all have different reasons why we need to be there. I can guarantee you, none of us are there by choice. But ya'll employees? Ya'll are there to work. What a joke. There custody system is a ridiculous. My nephew been fighting to see his child since September 2024. There's an order in place, that the mother doesn't honor. He's only seen her once since then, but the courts refuse to hold her accountable. They won't give him an emergency hearing either. He just keeps filing for new court date, losing money setting there all day just for her to tell the courts to kiss her butte. read more

This was one of the most horrible experiences of my life! This was a long term marriage at 24 years. I will name names. Commissioner Gassner lingered this case on for 3 1/2 years. Commissioner Gassner Ordered Bench Orders on the Respondent and never held him accountable to submit the documents that were ordered. Commisioner Gassner Signed a Stipulation and Order for the Petitioner to receive arrears. Judge dismissed his own Stipulation and Orders that would have awarded the Petitioner 2 years of arrears with compounded interest. A Stipulation and order submitted and signed by the Judge is a "BINDING ORDER." Petitioner was the one who had to produce all documentation. Judge only awarded 25% of what the Respondent's NET income. Stating that the Petitioner never produced evidence. That is NOT true. Petitioner produced evidence that the Petitioner was Disabled and produced documentation from California Disability, that the Petitioner did not qualify for Disability Benefits. I showed up today for court hearing on my name change process. Room S31. The assigned Judge was Stephanie Thornton-Harris. I was the last in there for the morning session. Kind of feel like it was God working. She asked why I wanted to change my name. I said if you want a sad story and have time I'll speak. She said if I had anything I wanted to say or get off my chest I was ok to speak. So I did. Have a little bit of reason why. She sat in her throne and gave me encouragement, words of wisdom and was very respectful and caring of my feelings as I broke down a little a cried. This is exactly how our court system or any law system should be. Compassionate and caring. Thank you Judge I appreciate you and your service. read more

The clerk at window 3, on 2.24.23 is the rudest clerk. She returned paperwork to me and mentioned it was not completed correctly when it was. The entire time having an attitude. What does it cost you people to say hello, smile or say thank you? Stop giving the public your negative energy. People are here to receive assistance from you, not be have your attitude. Wow. Just got off the phone with a woman in the administration office and she could not POSSIBLY have been more rude and unprofessional!! I had to call to postpone my jury service, since unfortunately I woke up sicker than sick. I am one of those people that REALLY wants to be on a jury. Unlike 90% of the population, I actually get giddy when I get a summons. She asked when I would like to reschedule for and I said beginning/mid January. Her response...it's going to take you 2 months to get better? My jaw about hit the floor. A) how is it 2 months, when it's basically December already and I'm rescheduling for the beginning/mid Jan? B) That's only 1-1.5 months, math genius. C) The soonest date they would let me reschedule for is Wednesday Dec 21st! (Has to be 21 days out from original date!). Sorry I didn't want to be rescheduled for the week of Christmas or New Years! Plus how does she know what "sickness" I have, or what is wrong with me??? Rude, unprofessional woman needs to get herself a new job, far away from the public. read more

Let me just start by saying this self help center for family is a JOKE half the girls in there are rude As Fu** & the other half are in the back doing who knows what besides wasting people's time. They are clearly not here for customer service but there is a way to still tell someone NO with out being bit**es. These people swear as if the people waiting don't have jobs, kids to pick up, dinner to start the list is continuous..... I sat there for almost 6 hours YES 6 HOURS for some bullshit that I could have just paid a few bucks for an attorney to tell me and saved a whole day of sitting. I don't think I have ever waited so long for anything not even the damn rides at Disneyland. They need to make more resources available or something because this is just EFFING terrible. 351 N. Arrowhead Ave. is the site of the San Bernardino Historic Courthouse. Came here on a friday morning to see someone at the Self Help desk. Parking was easy, all the security guards were extremely helpful and friendly. Went thru the security checkpoint very quickly, went down to the self help area and was seen right away. The clerk answered my questions thoroughly and I was on my way. Great experience! read more

It's a courthouse, a secure facility, so expect to be searched and go through metal detectors. The entire courthouse deals with family law matters and the bottom floor is where you can file documents. Long lines, so be patient! No need to be rude to the staff and if you need help, they do offer self-help services but you're going to have to wait if you need to use their services. Might be better to pay for a paralegal to get things done be googling "Documents For Court". read more

Courthouses here on Yelp tend to get low ratings. Nobody, except for us attorneys, like to go to court, as usually the emotions and feelings about whatever reason you are there overshadow the facilities themselves. However, this courthouse is like stepping back in time. Built, I believe, in 1929, on the site of the old Mormon Fort (the first white man's settlement in this area), it's a Roosevelt era look at buildings that were part of the public works projects at the time. The old staircases, the bathrooms with the floor to head urinals and mosaic octagon tiling, and the old fashioned courtrooms, looks like something out of "Inherit the Wind", or any courtroom drama from the golden age of the silver screen. I always used to get a kick out of the elevators when they were operating. They were, like all elevators of the time used to be, operated by someone inside the elevator and used a lever to manually line up the elevator with each floor. This older building, which was used for multiple purposes for decades, is now replaced for the most part by the new high tech glass and marble high rise courthouse. But this older courthouse is still part of local history and, along with the landscaped grounds in front, a beauty of its own. read more

Seems a little odd to me to "Rate" a courthouse. I do have to say that for once in my life i had a great experience at a courthouse. I received a traffic violation from a wretched CHP officer on my way home from Vegas at the top of the Cajon Pass. Who gets a ticket on their way home from Vegas right? Turns out lots of people. Today I have to go plead not guilty which as it turns out is a pretty simple process. I pull up and parallel park right in front of the court building.. Wait, what??? Free parking?? That doesn't sound right. I go inside and the first thing I see is an airport style scanner/metal detector and conveyor belt X-ray machine. The two ladies operating this piece of equipment are extremely pleasant and smiling and are as polite as could be. Surprise #2! I pick my way down the narrow corridors and hallways to the elevators to the second floor/Annex side and strewn about are a plethora of people visiting the various departments waiting for whatever or whoever they're there to see. The one downside I saw is that the signage is fairly hard to see and decipher. There are plastic engraved plaques with arrows and floor #'s and departments all over the place. Some have instructions, some have warnings, some have rules.. no real rhyme or reason. I make my way up to the clerk for the traffic division and there's a line.. no surprise really and it's not long but having been in government buildings and worked for the local government I had no high hopes of the line moving quickly. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the ladies at the three open windows were moving through the people in line rather quickly and I'm there waiting for no more than 15 minutes... WAY faster than I'd anticipated. When I get to the window the lady that helped me was professional and handled my needs quickly. She explained the process and was amazingly friendly and polite. In no time at all I'm on my way back through the maze to the front door and back to my truck. In and out in less than 30 minutes. Fan-freaking-tastic! On my way out the door there's now a man that replaced one of the friendly ladies at the entrance X-ray and he smiles and waves and invites me to "Have a great afternoon" as I awl lout the door and I happily return his sentiment! Sadly they will be closing this location and moving traffic and criminal divisions to different locations.. It's a cool old (really old!) building and the people I came in contact with were all great and actually looked like they loved their jobs. Hopefully they all keep their jobs and move to the new venues! read more

Horrible experience, I'm going through the process of suing a family member, and while trying to give my summons paperwork to riverside sheriffs department the first time! The riverside sheriffs department informs me that I'm missing a seal on one of my several forms so they cannot take the paperwork. I'm out of time so the next day when I have time available I go back to this courthouse and head to the third floor civil division again. While there I explain to the secretaries that riverside sheriffs won't take the forms unless I have a seal on this certain form. They at first tell me they do not give out the original document with the seal on it and this is an ongoing issue apparently I'm not the only one making multiple trips back and forth from riverside sheriffs to this courthouse. So I'm like how am I supposed to get the sheriffs to serve them then. Eventually the receptionist gives me a copy at which point I then head to riverside sheriffs. Now I'm at the sheriffs department and they tell me I'm missing a signature and they could not take it again. There was a signature however it was stamped and not hand written. You could imagine how angry I was at this point, I almost lost it. Now a few days go by and I'm back at San Bernardino courthouse trying to get this signature. I inform the receptionist what happened at riverside and she tells me they can't sign the form, but she will give me another form certifying the authenticity of the form that has the signature. I ask her will riverside except this she then says I don't know, maybe. I'm immediately thinking these people are just here to collect a paycheck and not serve the people of this county in any way. I then ask is the lady who originally signed the form working? The receptionist tells me yes. I then ask can she sign this form just in case riverside denies this again so I don't come back up here again and again like I'm already doing. The receptionist looks at me and gives me one of those smiles like she's enjoying my suffering I'm going through and shakes her head no. If your in a field where you have to provide customer service and you don't like your job my advice for you is to quit and let someone else more deserving and willing to go above and beyond for people in need take your spot. Communication between this courthouse and riverside sheriffs is nonexistent. Be prepared to make multiple trips back and forth and FYI you have to pay for parking near riverside sheriffs department. I hope after my court date I never have to return to this place as long as I live. read more

Don't ask the Plantiff about compensatory damages, every judge should know about compensatory damages when a security deposit is not returned within 30 days Do allow a Disabled Veteran to present his Witnesses perhaps he needs help...why else would he bring them.
