I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience at the San Bruno Recreation Center, specifically with an employee named Jordan. My son has come here many times to play basketball and previously enjoyed it, but after this experience he doesn't even feel comfortable returning. Jordan questioned my son's membership/age, told him his membership was invalid, and made him leave, even though another employee later confirmed that he still had 8 paid scans remaining. When I came in to ask questions and requested to speak with a supervisor, Jordan became confrontational, raised his voice at me in front of my children, and told me that if I continued being "rude and disrespectful," I could be kicked out and no longer welcomed at the facility. That was completely unacceptable to me. Parents should be able to respectfully question a policy or advocate for their child without being yelled at or threatened with removal from a community facility. I do want to recognize Kayla, who was incredibly kind, professional, and helpful. She showed that policies can be explained and enforced while still treating families with respect. I genuinely feel Jordan could benefit from additional training in customer service, de-escalation, and how to appropriately communicate with children and families. Working in a community recreation center means interacting with people of all ages, including children, and even when enforcing rules, those interactions should be handled calmly and respectfully. I've been part of the San Bruno community my entire life, so it's especially disappointing that my son and I now feel uncomfortable returning. I truly hope management takes this concern seriously and addresses it so families can feel welcome and respected here. read more

The whole park is active with softball games,pickleball courts,soccer' games. What a difference from years ago and the new building with parking is open late. read more

Well, don't know if city can do anything if people are bad. My friend and I went there play pickleball today. One court was blocked by one guy claiming he reserved court. Another court was occupied by 2 men only allow their people to play. Very rude people you don't see rest of Bay Area. read more

My kids and I love coming to this park. Never fails to find the benches reserved for a birthday there is a party every weekend in the summer. This is why the spot gets crowded and of course because of the connected baseball field where kids games are held. Parking lot available but limited spaces. The actual playground is awesome there is a little kids section and a big kid section. The only thing I wish parks had more of is shade! I wish there were more trees surrounding the playground because once it gets hot the plastic can burn the kids skin so please be careful of the heat. There is also enough flat ground that you can let your kids ride their scooter or bike around the trail areas. read more

This spacious park has lots of activity, and seems to be a popular with the local residents!! It has playground, a baseball field, tennis courts, a gymnasium (do they still say gymnasium?), and a swimming pool! There's a paved trail that circles the park, seen lots of walkers doing laps on that trail. Actually, lots of people were playing tennis on this day also. Although the picnic areas were closed due to the pandemic, you can tell this is a huge picnic/bbq spot. I think every city has a place during these times where people just want to get outside and be around people safely, masked up, and this was that place here! I'll be coming back here when things open up again!! read more

This is a nice quiet park. Kids are here on the playground. Dogs are here chasing balls. There is a couple of ball fields and some tennis courts. Evan a trail. The people using the park are friendly. It's clean and well kept. There are restrooms too. Peaceful. read more

From baseball fields, to playground areas, bbq pits, picnic areas, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and an indoor basketball gym, these park has it all. Although it may not be the biggest park in the world, there's plenty of room to stretch your legs. As a lifelong resident of San Bruno, I recently found out they allow dogs on leash at throughout park, which was news to me because I've always seen dogs here. If you are looking for a short walk that you can loop, this would be a nice stroll for your pup. For a city run park, they keep this place in pretty good shape! If you are planning future events, you can reserve the various picnic areas for a specified fee. Last summer I rented out Beckners Shelter, which is the largest outdoor space they had. It's tucked in the back of the park, and has it's own bbq pits, and 10+ covered picnic tables. We had over 200 people come by, and there was still plenty of room activities and games. The space has about 10-15 parking spots close to the picnic area, but the overflow will have to go the pool parking lot. If you are looking to rent this spot out, plan way ahead because most weekend days get swooped up quick. In the summer/fall you'll find lots of summer camps and youth baseball games going on. The city also puts on a concert series which is held in this park as well. Bathrooms are sparse but can be found at various spots throughout the park. Great playground for the kids, revamped snack shack ( upgraded), and good separate area's.

This is a really lovely park - not just for the children's play area (although I do love those swings!!) but also for adults too. It has a couple of baseball parks, tennis court, recreation building (not sure what is inside but from the outside I can see a mini gym with weights), swimming pool, restrooms and concession stall. Is also has picnic tables around the place - most of which next to the children's play area along with BBQ pit which can be hired out. This seems to be a very popular spot for children's Birthday parties on nice warm sunny days. There is a small amount of parking on the corner of Cypress Ave with more spaces next to the rec center and it's always kept very clean. I also read that in the warmer summer months there is a 'film in the park' event here too which is free but does get very busy. It's nice to just come down here and walk a round watching the Squirrels scurry from tree to tree getting some fresh air or on the odd occasions I've given in to my inner child and headed to a smaller climb frame near the rec center much to the amusement of my husband, not sure what passers by thought of the sight of a grown adult shrieking 'weeeeeee' while playing on the tiny slide though!! read more

Wholesome family park, great to come to for a ball game or to walk your dog. While the park itself is not that big, you can burn off a fair amount of calories doing a couple of laps around the vicinity. For the most part, everything is kept pretty clean and the park also contains a kid's playground, a baseball field, picnic tables, and a public pool to fulfill any desire that you might be in the mood for. read more

Great park to visit when in San Bruno. Large green fields with two different areas of playground structures for the kids. Really nice baseball fields and softball fields. They had an Easter egg hunt which was well organized and a great experience for the kids. Would recommend this place to anyone in area looking to have a picnic or party. read more

I'm updating this review to reflect today's visit. San Bruno Parks & Rec has opened the toddlers' play area at San Bruno City Park with all-new equipment. That's right, folks, brand-new equipment such as four bucket swings! There's a sand area with built-in "construction vehicles." The jungle gym is made by GameTime, and it's just the right size for tots, I'm happy to report -- no harrowing fall potentials. The park was also not as littered / trashed as it was last time I was there. I still do not agree with this park's overall design. The children's play areas should have been moved closer to the park's interior, not left on the edge near traffic, especially due to the lack of gates. And the open drainage ditch is one of the worst eyesores in a park. I can only hope that this playground doesn't end up trashed. read more

I chose to visit this park because I was looking for somewhere nearby Morning Wood to eat my takeout brunch. The park was clean and safe too so I would definitely come back here again. This is the best place in the area to eat lunch during the work week. Park under the trees in the shade. Put the windows down for a gentle breeze. Sit in your car and enjoy a quiet lunch while watching kids play. Twenty minutes here wipes away all the stresses of the morning. Just the reset button you need. read more

When I was a young buck, this was the place to be. Girls spent an hour+ getting ready to come here and meet up with the guys. Guys threw on a hat and spent 11 seconds getting ready to meet gals here. The baseball field, of which I experienced countless memories that are still with me today, was immaculate. It was treated like a minor league baseball field. Trespassing signs were set up so you knew ahead of time that if you got cute with it, 5-0 would hand you a ticket and a limo ride to lockup. Nowadays, it's just not the same. The baseball field is now a multipurpose facility for flag football and soccer and other sporting "events" that kids enjoy. The grass is long, spotty and not in the same pristine condition it was in my day. I think it's still a good park though. They have lots of BBQ areas for parties and stuff. It's semi clean and functional. Overall, if I were to erase the memories of yester-year, I'd say it's a solid 3 star venue. read more

This park was really great! I have a 16 month old daughter who I brought here for a play date. She played on the small child structure and had a blast. The large structure is really intimidating as a parent because it is HUGE. I bet older kids really enjoy it though. I will be going back soon with my daughter to enjoy it some more! p.s. it even has its own little parking lot on the side near the play structures. read more

It is ok , two playgrounds for kids and good walking trails. I have gone there several times to meet my son and Grand baby there. Parking is not so good sometimes and the bathrooms are across street at the San Bruno Rec Center, which can be very crowed on the weekends. But at least the park is clean and my grand baby always has fun here! read more

Lots of bbq pits and picnic tables Community Gym includes outdoor swimming pool, tiny weights-gym. This park gets crowded on the weekends and sunny weekdays and very impressing that despite the hussle and bussle of so many people coming to this park, This park is maintained - clean! NOTE: I've driven by this park early in the morning (about 7:00 am) and I see lots of elderly folks walking. It says a lot about this park (safeness of the people). As a Millbrae resident, I usually take my dog to Millbrae Central Park to get his exercise in. That was until recently, when a bunch of *ahem* idiots *ahem* caused the shutdown of the entire park by burning down the community center. Since then, I had to resort to a new location for my canine friend's energy relinquishment needs. Cue San Bruno City Park. I admit I'm not here often, but after coming several times I'm actually impressed how nice it is. There are plenty of trails that go through the park, and lots of grassy areas to hang out as well as barbecue pits for parties. There are also a couple tennis courts, two baseball fields, and two outdoor and indoor basketball courts (indoor might cost a few bucks and opens during the late afternoon/early evening). Most importantly, of course, there are LOTS of Pokestops scattered throughout the park. If you go up the trail next to the community center and gazebo, there are around 10 that you could pick up with just a few steps. Get those potions! read more

This is such a great park to plan parties at. The weather is usually really good, it's tucked away, and there's lots of parking. Bathrooms are very clean as well. I love spot 13, there is lots of room for kids to play and plenty of tables to set up food. This is a quick ride from the city, or for friends down in the peninsula. read more

My girlfriend had her son's birthday party over here. Parking is awful, so if you plan on coming here you better cross your fingers or count on having to walk to the park. Luckily I was able to find parking across the street, up a hill, near the church so it wasn't so bad. The park looked pretty nice and the play area was nice also. I like how they have a bathroom right near the playground area. I didn't get to explore the rest of the park but the part that I saw was pretty nice, so I can't imagine the rest of it looking awful. read more

Came here on a Saturday for a BBQ among good friends and family. The park is very spacious, lots of green area to play and even a basketball court and a couple of baseball fields nearby. BBQ picnic areas are by reservations only. 1 pit and 4 tables. Today was particularly packed, every picnic area was taken, but nevertheless spacious enough for everyone. PARKING: private lot, kind of small considering each party has multiple groups of people, but there is street parking close by. read more

I have to City Park many times - but never wrote a review b/c it seemed like a silly thing to do over one visit. While the structures are fun, and have many areas to play - the lack of gates make this an unpopular location for my family over the last year. My daughter is busy - and while she wouldn't run in the street . . . she tries to go over to the large (and very high) structure, which makes me nervous and turn into "that" Mom that is telling her toddler "No no" over and over. The bathrooms need help - and not sure what the solution should be, but they are down right gross. And often very wet. I have yet to rent an area for a picnic or party but they seem to be very popular - they are always busy, fog or sunshine. read more

Great park with a jungle gym, soccer field, and baseball field. There's a cute gazebo nearby too. I would love to see a wedding thrown there! It is a dog-free park, so my friends couldn't bring her furry friends. :( The day I went was ridiculously windy, but I assume the park is gorgeous on any other day. We had a BBQ with pit provided. If you want alcohol for the park, apply for the spot and ask for a alcohol license. It will be posted at your designated spot on the day of. Parking may be hard to find on a beautiful day and may push you to park at the residential nearby. read more

Been coming here quite a bit this year with the kids! Been here several times before for picnic parties. The dual playground is what we come here for. One side for the toddlers and another for the bigger kids. Can be tough to watch two kids by yourself, but they sure love it here. Parking is always available right by the playground and the bathrooms are really close too. Just went there today after a movie and noticed they closed the kiddie playground (hopefully for remodel since there was some construction equipment there). There's a guy who comes around all afternoon with his small ice cream cart. Everything he has a picture of is somehow in that small cart! The really best thing about this park besides how clean it is - IT'S FREE! Glad those taxes are put to some good use!!! read more

I like to bring my son here. Very big park with a few structures for kids. The one for older kids is pretty awesome!!! There is even a part that has imitation rocks to climb (rock climbing for kids!!) Bathroom not to far as well as water fountain. read more

This park is my home. I'm 18 and I've had more bike rides, little league games, morning jogs, birthday parties than I can count and it's truly made an impression on my childhood. If you're looking to have a party on a weekend u need to book early, but the park is generally pretty available. There are always people there but the vast space allows for people to have quiet time without feeling totally isolated. When it comes to planning family events or a day at the park this is the best place between sf and Burlingame. read more

We have been complaining about the 1710 el Camino real auto body shop using the commercial in our residents and I tell you they come take of them and this stubborn. Auto body shop parks their cars and we residential never get the parking the city should impose fine on them but seriously they not doing anything about them instead they bother the resident and gives them ticket this is needs to stop but city of San Bruno does not care . I don't know why I am paying city tax to them read more

Ahhh, San Bruno Park. Lot's of good memories with this place. Coming here on a 5th grade field trip, getting on the ghetto merry go round (no longer there) and having our teacher spin us so hard that we all flew off and threw up. Or the time my little brother jumped into the deep end of the pool without knowing how to swim and almost drowned. Or the time in 4th grade I walked half an hour to get to the park to watch a parade that this girl I liked, Maritza, was in, only to have her ignore me later on. haha. This is a great little park that I really enjoy coming to on a warm day and just sleeping in the grass like a homeless man on heroin. I could do it all day. The park has several playgrounds for the kids, a little train ride, a mini rock climbing boulder, a couple of softball fields with concession stands, barbecue area, a swimming pool, a recreation building with weights and other equipment, and a gazebo (which I'm in in one of my pictures) where they have live music in the summer on Friday evenings. The music ranges from blues, to reggae, to country, each week it's different. A nice spot to chill out, have a drink, and bite to eat. Great spot for a date. Also, there is a trail at the back of the park that leads to the Junipero Serra park. Hint: If your date is adventurous, take them up to the top of the trail at night. Beautiful view of the city. If you're feeling extra adventurous, don't come back down the same way. Go down the side of the mountain. If you're like me, lose your footing and have both yourself and the girl end up rolling down the side of the steep hill and into some thorns. Then notice a guy playing some sweet video games in his living room and take the girl up to the door, after she dares you, knock on the door, and ask if you can come in to play video games with him. Since it's around 2am the guy will be weirded out by your request, maybe even angry. Turn to your date and notice she is not there. Realize she ran off and is hiding behind a tree laughing. Realize you look like a crazy motherfucker knocking on some dudes door at 2am, all caked in dirt from rolling down a hill earlier, asking if you can come in to play video games with him. Realize, it's time to go. Realize it's time to get even stevens with your date so you pick her up over your shoulder and toss her in some bushes. A friend and i went to the San Bruno Community Pool at City Park. The pool is ideal to bring your kids there, seems like a lot of fun to them. This place isn't for adults though, the place is small and pool isn't big either. Besides the shrieking kids, and the cold-water-only showers in the locker room, the locker room was clean, but the area around pool needed some serious sweeping. The place is cheap $3 pass for adults and convenient free parking. Your kids would love the place though and it seemed safe, lifeguards were watching over the little Tasmanian devils and their activities in the swimming pool. read more

What a great recreational space! Everything from tennis courts, to playgrounds, to walking/biking trails. The topography and trees make for a very naturally and beautifully partitioned park. There are multiple phases to this large space, each one with a different function. It also abuts Junipero Serra County Park, which has several miles of woodwed trails and more recreation areas. read more

Grew up at this park and now I bring my kids. It's soooo well kept and truly a beautiful place to walk and be when it's a nice day. Pretty large park with lots of swings, baseball fields, and a baby park. We have had several birthday parties here and it always works out great. Recently redone bathrooms and lots of parking. My family has been holding their annual family reunion at San Bruno City Park for about 4 years in a row. It's a great place for us all to gather since most of us live in and around the San Francisco Bay Area, South Bay and Oakland areas. We usually rent out a BBQ picnic area - #12 this year. The cost is about $120 if you are a San Bruno resident. There is a sufficient amount of public parking in the park, plenty of play structures for the little ones, a baseball diamond, swimming pool (for a small fee) and tennis courts. There are also public restrooms that you can walk to. I believe pets are allowed on leash. There are lots of trees and grass areas in this park so there is plenty of shade and space for volleyball, croquet and fun games like a good water balloon toss! I highly recommend this park for large gatherings, parties and celebrations! read more
