This department has the worst documented accountability record in the entire United States. Over…read morethe last five years, they sustained just 1 complaint; meaning they dismissed 96% of all misconduct complaints. No other documented county in the U.S. has a lower record. I know, because I'm one of those dismissed voices. Officer #415 "in appropriately" assaulted me (yes I have to change that from the correct term because they auto block it), then $talked me, then stopped me four times in five days, including once outside his jurisdiction. Internal Affairs, led by Lieutenant Forster, chose to side with him instead of investigating. After that, I was stopped over roughly 20 more times in a year and a half. Not once was I arrested, because these stops weren't about crime they were about retaliation. Since moving very far away, my police interactions have been normal and professional, which proves the problem isn't policing in general it's THIS department. Now they refuse to release the records or bodycam footage or proof he shut it off during both stops claiming it's "private." But federal retention laws require that evidence to be kept for 15 years. If it's missing, that only raises more questions about what they're hiding. They have taken down my review on Facebook and will not allow anymore negative reviews. This shows how deep the rabbit hole goes. El Cajon residents deserve better. They deserve a department that serves the people - not one that protects predators in uniform.

One day I had to call the El Cajon Police Station because a woman resident who lives in this house had to report a serious crime that has happened in her previous place where she used to live at in El Cajon, CA. There were 2 police officers that came over to our house this month in April 2025. Me and another person came outside the house to talk to them. I talked to Officer Kyle Webb. Officer Kyle Webb is in charge he is the Sargent who was on duty that day. I asked Officer Webb some questions about this case that was filed against this woman who owns this Independent Living Home in El Cajon, CA. This woman owner has committed a lot of serious violations with these elderly people who are currently living in her house. There is a current ongoing investigation on her property right now. Officer Kyle Webb talked to me for about one hour that day. Officer Webb was very professional and polite when he was talking to me about this situation on this criminal matter. I usually don't like COPS but Officer Webb was very easy to talk to about this criminal investigation that is ongoing right now. Officer Webb made me feel very comfortable with him and I felt at ease with him when we were talking to each other about this case. Even though the El Cajon Police Station is a much smaller facility than the San Diego Police Station Officer Webb said they do their best to solve crimes in the order that they were received by phone calls first then by driving over to that specific house in person to write down all the evidence that is required to solve these crimes that are happening now. Both of these police officers acted very quickly and they were also very professional people and very knowledgeable and kind to me. It changed my way of thinking about police officers. I now have a more positive attitude towards police officers in general.

The parks, malls, eateries, movie theatres, neighborhoods, and schools were great places that I can recall. Before COVID, before Manila Mesa, before traffic congestion, before social media, and before overpopulation, Mira Mesa was a great place to grow up in. Hey, I think I turned out alright. I moved out of there early 2000's and I'm glad I did. It just isn't the same anymore. I miss my old stomping grounds that are sadly no longer there or have been renovated or under new ownership. Neighborhoods don't seem so safe anymore. There's an increase in crime and accidents. This year of 2020 hasn't made it easier either. I hate you Covid! I'll always remember the good times where I could play with the neighborhood kids outside, walk to the park, movie theatre, arcade store, or convenience store without a worry in the world. I was fortunate to enjoy my childhood innocence and not be so cautious of people or mass media. No distractions and just enjoyed being a kid. This review is split: 5 stars from 1980s-1990s. 2000s-present gets a sad 1 star. Overall, 3 stars ! Thanks for the unforgettable memories Mira Mesa aka Manila Mesa now. I do come here on a regular to get certain things that I can't find elsewhere. What can I say? It's a love and hate relationship these days.

Main takeaways: -PUSD is an excellent public school district. -RB is a very safe community, patrolled by the San Diego Police Department. There is little crime, and fewer violent crimes. -There are a plethora of businesses. You can find just about anything in RB. They host several supermarkets, there are many bank branches, a public library, and a USPS branch, etc. Cons: -It's still a sleepy town - most everything closes early. -Nightlife is almost non-existent. Things are better now that Urge Gastropub and The Barrel Room are around (also check out their sister store, Brothers Provisions). -There are A TON of stodgy, old, well-to-do conservatives. They mostly drive 35mph on all public streets, and many commit the biggest pet peeve of mine: failing to effectively use the turn signal. All in all, its a fine neighborhood to start a family. It's a fine neighborhood to retire. It's boring as can be if you're 21-35.

Instead of actually patrolling they sit and wait at stop signs on streets then nobody's driving on just to see how many people they can give a ticket instead of patrolling on the busier streets where people actually run the stop signs. They wait in parking lots of establishments to harass people walking out of bars or other restaurants instead of patrolling. When one person it's pulled over for a basic traffic stop it's not uncommon for about five cop cars to swarm that same person for a minor speeding offense like a hive of bees. Some of them don't even abide by their own traffic laws this includes cutting people off, speeding using their cell phones. One officer actually parked in front of a grocery store in the Red Zone just to go inside and Shop. It is a do as I say not as I do type of agency. It does no good to complain or file any sort of formal grievance because the same Bad actors will still be in power unfortunately. Instead of protecting and serving they bully people or don't help the ones who are really distressed.
