I felt like we learned a lot about the founding of Monticello, the people who built it, and the legacy that continues on. We personally loved the experiences of life in the "Wild West." The diorama of town was very beautiful and a ton of research clearly went into making it. We also enjoyed the nearby pioneer park for another glimpse of this town's history. The employee was very friendly.

Today we stopped at Bluff Fort in Bluff, Utah. This reconstructed pioneer fort tells the story of…read morethe determined families who settled here in 1880 after completing the incredibly rugged Hole-in-the-Rock expedition. Note: Admission is free and the folks there will give you the history. Walking through the cabins and exhibits gave us a glimpse into what daily life was like on the frontier. It's amazing to think about the perseverance it took to build a community in such a remote and unforgiving landscape. The fort is beautifully maintained, and the volunteers do a great job bringing its history to life. Before we left, we stopped by the gift shop and bakery, where we picked up some absolutely delicious treats. A little history and a little dessert made for the perfect start to our day!
