We do not currently have a dog, but we both love dogs and enjoy petting them and watching them play. The parking lot was full so we parked across the street where some other cars were parked. Its quite a small parking lot. There is a very nice double gate so that dogs cannot escape easily. We got to pet a few dogs, but they were mostly running around and playing which is why they were there! We followed a path around the lake and were impressed with the size of the park. A few dogs were playing in the water as well. We saw some neighbors and stopped to chat a bit. Other people were getting to know each other because their dogs were playing together. What a great way for neighbors and their dogs to connect with each other! We really enjoyed ourselves and will return soon for sure.

I enjoyed walking the trail and overall, thought it was a great park to head towards if you are in the Tallahassee, Florida area. I was here about three o'clock or maybe three thirty and the park had quite a few people on the property. I had to look up who Fred George was. It turns out that he was a game warden. He was also a farmer and property owner in Leon County, Florida. He was born in 1890 in Georgia, but moved to Tallahassee as a young boy. Fred George passed away in 1983 at the age of ninety-three. But it is in this park that his name and memory lives on. I would definitely recommend a visit here.

There is metered street parking along the sides of the park and also within a reasonable walking distance. This park is home to one of Tallahassee's largest dog parks. The p[arks namesake was the person charged with doing the landscaping on the chain of parks that this park is located. It has a long history, being around for over 85 years. The park is not very well maintained and seemed to be a hangout for for local urban campers. The park has a brick paved walkway that goes down the center of it. You will also find a few metal square picnic tables and a pavilion with nothing under it. Just off of the dog park, is a paved circular area with benches along its outside perimeter. This is a nice hang out spot, if you are in the area and have no other place to go. I do not see much value outside of that and it is definitely not a destination spot.

And the small dog park would make a very nice large dog park in most cities. The large dog park it's actually a lot bigger than it looks from the entrance. It unfolds in the back and opens up into a very nice big area for your dogs to run amongst the trees. Did I mention there are a multitude of old groceries as well as places to sit and benches and picnic tables. There are multiple poop bag dispensers as well as trash cans placed all around the park. Dual gated entry areas for both the large and the small dog park. The only two questionable items are they have a place where the fence makes a v in the back which can sometimes trap dogs that are trying to escape being attacked and the only water is actually outside the delegated entry? Oh and you have to park about a half a block away.

A very well maintained park that offers an abundance of trails for everyone-- bikers, horseback…read moreriders, dogs with their hoomans, just people who want to get out and get immersed in nature. There are two gate entrances, the first one has a small parking area and the second one a little further up the road does not, you'll have to park on the road. There are two lookout towers with information on wildlife and plants, one used to be where the judges would view the horse trials and the other is near the lake. Go out there and get energized by nature!

The therapeutic atmosphere allows you to escape the stress of the day to day grind and it really was just an amazing place to chill for a bit and just relax and temporarily put aside the grind of a workday. We as a community need parks, a place where we can go and gather in recreation and relaxation. A.J. Henry Park is a great park and I definitely recommend heading to this wonderful park.
