It has been years since I have been back to this driving range and was pleasantly surprised to see the setup now. There is a clubhouse, bar, and nice little gift shop, which was not there before. There is construction now for an outdoor area, which looks to be a great addition! The driving range is great to work on your golf game and there is even a fun 9-hole par 3 course for around $25. Their website say they close at 12:00. But when we got there at 10:05 they said that they are closed because they stop selling buckets at 10:00. Then they should be clear on their website. It's not that hard to state that in the website to say "Last bucket at 10:00". And the guy there said "oh other people have showed up after 10:00 and they told them the same thing. Honestly so disappointed to write this review because I love the driving range here. That's why when eating at their bar & grill after a range session and having to wait almost an hour for a buffalo chicken wrap made me even more displeased. In addition to that, after I asked about the wait for the food, the bartender/cashier mentioned they would take the drinks off our tab which ended up never happening. It was disappointing after the mix-up with the food. Lastly, I wanted to place an order to go to bring to my girlfriend and ended up waiting 20 minutes in line only to be told that the kitchen closed 2 mins after I finally got up to the front of the line. It didn't leave me feeling like I spent my money at the right place. It was a busy night in their restaurant and the bartender/cashier mentioned that they were short staffed so I will be updating this review the next time I practice at the range and try their bar & grill. Definitely still recommending coming and trying the golf range and their par 3!! read more

Customers beware! We were stuck in traffic and were 8 mins late for our Tee time. Tony at the front desk gave away our time to someone else and refused to give us our $100 back telling us "tough luck". I'm really disappointed with my experience at San Pedro Driving range & Par 3. This is the second time I've driven almost 50 miles into town only to find out the driving range closes at 9 PM or that the last bucket of balls is sold at 9 PM. The problem is the website clearly says the last bucket is sold at 10 PM. That's misleading and very frustrating--especially for people like me who drive a long distance specifically because of the posted hours. Please update your website or adjust your actual hours so customers don't waste their time and gas. I really enjoy practicing here, but this kind of inconsistency makes it hard to trust the schedule. read more

I absolutely love this place! Even in rainy conditions, as you can see from the photos and video, it stays clean and doesn't get muddy. My golf cart had no trouble at all. This place is awesome. I grew up next to this place and played here several times throughout high school and college and it was a true "train wreck". The bathrooms are gross, I wouldn't drink a canned soft drink here let alone a draft beer there. However, there were always people that would have their beer and stare and watch you hit balls. Fast forward to today, and this place is completely transformed. They completely redid the par three which is now actual course. They have an amazing repair shop that I already reviewed. I plan on reviewing there training center soon. And the club house is an actual club house with a full service menu and bar. I haven't read everything on the menu but the chips and salsa with queso were very good and is the beer is cold. I will be back. I renewed my Alamo Golf Trails member. I can see this as a staple in bringing back my golf game. Well done!!! read more

Good place to practice your short game. Nine holes par 3 course. Service at check in is friendly and fast. The course is very well kept and green. Each visit there are greens keepers always there manicuring the lawns. Good exercise to walk the course. They also have night golfing and driving range as well. And yes there are bushes so it is possible to lose your ball if you don't hit straight. If you want to just play a little, this is the perfect place to go. They do have clubhouse and grill restaurant. Haven't tried the grill restaurant yet but next time I will. read more

As one that is enamored with moving the dimpled ball down a designed plot of land, I am definitely interested in a better practice facility. Here is a review of one such place. Found south of loop 410, on San Pedro avenue, this driving range and par 3 has been reborn in recent years. The clubhouse now houses the pro shop, an indoor practice simulator (very reasonably priced, I must add) and a bar and grill. A separate facility houses a club fitting and repair shop, manned by some very competent repair guys. The actual pro shop and repair shop are most modern and contemporary in design...kudos to the Alamo Golf Trail for the infusion of cash to offer these facilities to the golfing enthusiast. But now, for the most important issues for the budding golfer: the range and practice facilities. The range proper would accommodate 40 golfers or so, with mats and grass tee areas depending on the rotation as the crew may determine. The mats are...well...mats, no different that one would find at any other range. A very good note, is that when the rotation allows practice on grass tees, we are talking about very good grass tees. The maintenance crews have done a pretty good job of keeping the grass areas in exceptional shape, that despite the hellish heat we have endured of late. Other ranges that I visited had "grass" that was actually hard pan. So, kudos to the crew. Distance markers are well positioned around the entire range area, but one thing I did notice a couple of days ago, is that signage marked distance from the mat area, not detailing distance from the more forward grass tees. No big matter, as just pacing distances as we do on the golf course easily solves the issue. There is a short game practice area, a moderate size green right of the driving range, and here is where I lowered my rating to a level 4. The green combines putting and chipping. Half of the green is for putting, half for chipping. Of the putting area, only 3 holes are cut for the golfer, and for the chipper, 4 holes. One note of interest is that the grass around the chipping area is of Bermuda, and was cut taller than I had been playing on courses lately, adding another layer of complexity in honing chipping skills. In truth, the area is much too small to allow more than a handful of patrons to practice on this area. Surveying the area, in fact only a handful of golfers were using the short game area, so in reality not a large problem. (Shame on us: we all know that short game is the scoring game!!) But also disappointing is the fact that there is not a sand bunker practice area, an area that I consider most important in sharpening the game. I have not played on the par three course, but my understanding is that the fairways and greens are usually very well tended by the crew. As of the staff, my experience is of employees of very good cheer, everyone. So would I recommend San Pedro Driving Range to my fellow golfing Yelpers? Most definitely! Perhaps we shall meet on the course sometime!! Be safe!! read more

One of my favourite, more casual golf courses out here in San Antonio. I love the diverse crowd of golfers here as well as the laid back atmosphere of the driving range and the course. Depending on the day, you can practice your swing on a mat or the grass. The grass is kept pretty good and the mats are soft so you don't hurt your hands and wrists if you do end up hitting the mat. It can get busy in the evenings but that is understandable. The prices here are great as well and I would certainly recommend the membership to save some money each time you come. After practicing your swing, putting, or playing the course you should should grab a frozen margarita as your "cherry on top" as it will make your wins better and your losses not as bad! read more

I golf here every week. Great staff and an excellent quick fix for that golf itch. They also have a fantastic bar and grill that's worth the trip just for lunch! I've only used the simulator once and was not hitting the ball well so I can't give much of a review on that. read more

I haven't been to many driving ranges, but I'm very impressed with this place. The parking lot is spacious and the club house/bar/restaurant/shop is nice and clean. Plus they offer several services at a good price (shorten clubs, re-grip them, straighten clubs, etc) The grounds are well manicured and kept nice and mostly green, texas sun is hard to compete with :) Price wise, not bad = $12 for a par-3 9 round course. Easy to maneuver around the course and find the next hole. Buckets of balls are also fairly priced, 100 balls for $12, not too shabby! Also, cant forget, complimentary strong wifi. Plus, happy hour daily! The bar has a nice selection of craft beers plus different spirits. read more

This golf facility is a mixed bag. The clubhouse is nice with good beer and drink selection. It's great that they are open at night, although they randomly decide to close early or stop letting you get balls when they are still open for several more hours according to their site. I've never played the par 3 so can't speak to its condition. It's mats only quite a bit which is annoying. This last time you could hit off their "grass" but it was borderline dangerous to do so. I say this because they had the hitting lines on the worst turf I've seen at a range. It was basically hay-like dead grass on top of sand with netting underneath. Every time I swung my feet were slipping and digging holes into the grass/sand. After getting my shoes caught in the netting over and over again I decided to call it a night. Also the majority of the balls needed to be retired long time ago as they were mostly smooth with no dimples. I went to the putting green and that too was a waste of time. The surface was really bad and not because they had just been aerated. There were big patches of dead spots and entire green was very bumpy. Several people walked over to putt, looked at it and walked off. The staff is great but practice areas are poorly maintained. read more

Called ahead to see if leashed dogs were acceptable to bring. Whomever answered said absolutely. We brought our 10lb Jack Russell mix who spent his time laying on the concrete/in my lap. A gentleman walked around toward the end of us hitting balls and stated 'do us a favor next time, no dogs'. *Apparently, no dogs allowed! Otherwise, it's well groomed and clean. Husband had a good time with his buddy. But 3 stars for not being dog friendly to even well behaved/leashed dogs. read more

This is a very nice facility. There is a par 3 course, a nice chipping area with two bunkers, and a couple putting greens in addition to the driving range. The range itself is all grass (which is a huge advantage over turf) and there is plenty of space. This allows the staff to rotate the positions very frequently so you have fresh grass to hit off of. I have never played the par 3 course, but it always seems busy when I visit the driving range so that is a good sign. There are also golf academies during the summer for kids so it's a good time for the whole family. Free pointer: if you use this driving range often or play on any of the muni courses in town, get the players card membership--the benefits are awesome! (free green fees, discounts off buckets, discounts off apparel, etc.) If that doesn't get a useful click, then I don't know what will! read more

Nice facility! They offer buckets o' balls at a fair price. The balls are all still pretty new and yellow. Their Par 3 is pretty sweet too! They offer free water placed strategically around the course, which is always appreciated on a hot Texas day. Their greens are in fair shape. The driving range has decent sod. They offer a pro shop with good prices and a fair selection. The putting greens are nice and well kept. There are plenty of critters out there on the par 3, so be careful where you're driving at! read more

Called during the day to see how late they were open. Nice man on the phone told me they are open until midnight, just as their google hours say. I show up at 9pm, course looks very well maintained under the lights, I see people playing on it. I go in to ask for a tee time and they tell me they are closing up for the night so I can't play. Wtf? So frustrating, especially after calling ahead to confirm they would be open, and as I see people playing on the course. Why lie? Course looked so nice, really wish they hadn't wasted my time and got my hopes up. read more

It can get pretty busy but the prices are pretty good, the staff are friendly, and I like that they have the shaded patio area to hang out.
