I was lucky enough to recently spend a weekend away at Sanctuary Park Cottages. The 20 acre property is made up of six separate cottages. I stayed in The Loft, a picturesque wooden cottage complete with a fenced front garden. The cottage veranda overlooked the dam and it was lovely to wander around. So peaceful and scenic, there was even a little pier with a seat built so you could sit and watch the ducks swim around. If you wander around further outside, there's also a swimming pool, playground and a BBQ for guests to use.
The first floor of The Loft is made up of a laundry, kitchen and living area. The owners nicely provided a huge stack of firewood just outside the back door so help yourself to make a roaring wood fire. If you really want to indulge, there is a glorious corner spa bath on the mezzanine floor. Upstairs is a gorgeous four post bed and ensuite. I loved the little rustic touches, for example the corrugated tin shower walls.
We'd booked the Wine Affair which consists of two nights accommodation, a winery tour with an included lunch (this was fantastic through Wild Wombats Winery Tours), a cheese platter and a bottle of sparkling wine upon arrival. There are many other packages offered online as well as specials, such as a "pay for 2, stay for 3 nights" deal or midweek prices. Sanctuary Park Cottages is a lovely place to enjoy a weekend away from the city, without losing out on the luxuries. read more
