I bought a pair of SAS shoes for work in September and wore them for a couple of weeks and the sole became unglued. I took it back to Jim and he said he doesn't accept returns and gave me some glue to glue it back together. I came into this store a year ago, asking for a particular Sandal, because in between toe straps are uncomfortable to me! The owner, within 30 seconds, came flying out of the back with 5 different types of Sandals and when none worked she kept bringing out things till I got the perfect pair. The most comfortable sandals I have ever owned. Tevas. One year later I'm back on the island and one of the cross foot straps blew out! Brought them in and asked about a discount on another pair, the owner came in right before I was about to leave and let me exchange them for a brand new pair. So disappointing!! The sales lady was super sweet; however, ownership needs to learn a few things about customer service. Three people in our party purchased sandals here, we dropped over $200 in one stop. Three days later one OluKai was defective and the sole separated. We returned to the shop and they refused to make an exchange insisting the sandals be returned directly to OluKai and a warranty claim processed. Pathetic way to handle the issue. The store clearly allows exchanges and returns, but won't handle defective merchandise. The sad part is that they have a direct connection to the company as they are a wholesaler with a representative. Suffice it to say, others in our party were ready to purchase several pairs during our visit and did not. Having been in a customer service industry for over 30 years I'm sad to say I will never patronize this store again and will take my business elsewhere. I suggest you do the same. read more

Disappointed in cheap china sandals and store owner. Nu Sol sandals shrank wearing them at the beach. The picture shows the same size before and after a sunny day at the beach. The owner of Sandal Stop sold me these sandals, so once they shrank to the point of being unwearable, I called her to discuss the problem. She asked me to bring in the reciept with the shoes but once I got there she explained that they shrink in the hot sun and she couldn't take them back. Heck my Oofos never shrank! Why did she have me dig for the reciept to reject a return or exchange? I would think as a seasoned store owner she would have informed me of this issue, so I would have the chance to buy the next bigger size. I asked her to at least sell me the bigger size at her cost, which she refused. I won't be buying sandals there again. Buyer beware. read more

This store offers a great selection of rugged sandals. However, the customer service was gravely lacking. My daughter had been looking forward to picking out a certain sandal on the island, and we paid a high price for it and i I paid dearly for a pair of thongs as well. However, the initial pair we purchased did not end up being a good fit for for my daughter's narrow foot. And when we tried to exchange the shoes the next day, the owner gave us a hard time that the shoes wear already worn. I will never shop here again. The owner is very rude. My mom needs special shoes and we have a very hard time finding them locally. We want to support local so we tried going here. They did not have what my mom wanted. When we told the owner we have to get them online because we can never find them in the shops he got very mad and said we are the reason there are no local shoe stores around, and he then refused to help us and asked us to leave. Left my rainbows at home, so I stumbled into here looking to pick up another pair - however they sadly do not carry rainbows anymore. Rather than picking up a single pair of sandals, I ended up walking out with two pairs of Havaianas. They're no Rainbows, but they sure are comfortable and got us all over the island just fine. Never have I seen a shop dedicated to sandals. They knew what they were talking about and were real casual in regards to any sales tactics. I think they even made a joke about "high pressure sales." This store was the only bad experience I had during my trip to Hawaii. I bought a pair of sandals as a gift for my mom, and they seemed sturdy enough. The customer service at this place is mediocre, and after my mom wore the shoes for just two occasions, and the straps on both of them broke. Just when we thought things couldn't get worse, we called the store and asked for a refund. We were told in very harsh terms that there was no way we could get a refund and that our money was as good as gone. If I get another chance to revisit Hawaii, I'll be sure to shop somewhere else for shoes. read more

Despite a good selection both of the associates/owner were falling over themselves to help someone who had made it clear that she was not making a purchase. On the other hand I am kamaaina and was holding a $200 pair of sandals that I wanted to purchase. I could not even get a hello from them. I have been here twice, and in both shopping visits, the management (last time a woman, this time a man) have been beyond rude. It is unfortunate, that on the beautiful Big Island, the Sandal Stop represents the antithesis of Aloha. Today I watched this man (owner?) stalk a pleasant woman customer, snooping around her bags as if she was a vagrant. He then ordered the woman, in a disrespectful tone, to put the sandals she had looked at away. He actually said to her, "I am not your slave." In looking at other reviews here I see that a rude attitude is a big problem here. It is said that being rude is a weak and flustered person's imitation of strength. So I wish these people well and hope that they some day discover true Aloha -- do not ruin your vacation to Kailua-Kona by stopping here and suffering such disgraceful abuse. Loved the selections of sandals that are available. Being on Kona where many people vacation, they could gouge customers. They don't -- a pair of Mephisto sandals cost $100 here, they cost $100 on the mainland, they cost $100 online. The woman helping us was super helpful and super patient (we tried on pairs and pairs of sandals). You can buy flip flops or water shoes anywhere for 20 bucks, but if your stubborn feet like mine desperately need a pair of uber-comfortable and sturdy sandals in order to walk the island without breaking an arch or pinching a toe, THIS is the place to come to! Not only that, but the patience and service of Chris and her colleagues was amazing as I tried on pair after pair after pair to try and match my squirrelly and mismatched feet. And then Eureka! Chris found me the pair of the most comfortable sturdy sandals I could've ever imagined, and I'm writing this while walking back to my car with a big grin on my face! I dragged my husband in here because the Island Slipper Company's website said they carried their brand. I had bought a pair of Island Slippers on Maui but the store didn't have the Men's styles. We walked into Sandal Stop and the owner pointed us in the direction of Island Slipper (all made in Hawaii-and soooo comfy!). They had several Men's and Women's styles, and, even better, I found a pair in my husband's size on the sale rack! The owner said it was a discontinued color and that was the last pair they had. I stopped in this store last while visiting Kona as I was looking for some comfortable sandals. I don't know if the man working there was the owner or a sales person, but he was rude. We were on our way for breakfast when we stopped in and just had a quick look round and intended coming back after breakfast to shop at leisure. However his comments to me, including "enjoy shopping online" as I was leaving put me off going back. Not only do I not shop online, I do my best to support small local businesses, both at home and when on vacation. I am surprised by such a negative attitude from a sales person in this day and age. -Patronized this store over the weekend. Good selection of quality shoes. However the tall sales woman was very condescending and disrespectful. I requested a shoe to meet a need I had and she showed me a pair, and I said that I wasn't ready for that kind of shoe (it was velcro and way to "unstylish" for my liking). I stated "I am sorry, I am not even fifty years old, and I can't get myself to wear shoes with velcro on them just yet..." She marched away and said something to the affect of.. "I can't deal with your issues." (this is not verbatim).. but along those lines. I told her "I do not have 'issues' I just don't like the style." I felt she was demeaning and disrespectful. Her insinuation of me having "issues" generally connotes I have some sort of psychological issue, that disallows me from being somehow emotionally balanced to accept a shoe.. .Really... I have been in this store before, and have had a similar experience with this woman. Good selection of shoes, but really - be rude to the customer.. wow this did not leave me wanting to purchase or recommend shoes to this store... Ironically, our family has a business in town that would be an excellent referral source for this store- and it was announced upon our arrival... it is too bad this "bad experience was had in this store." read more

Blonde older sales clerk was very rude. I was exchanging shoes that were to big and she told me they were OK that I had the correct size. WTH they slipped on my feet and gave me blisters (walked on rug at home for about 5min). They didnt have my size to exchange so I had to take a lower priced shoe and the kept the extra money. Love that fact the store handles many brands so I could try on a variety of shoes to find the most comfy. The sales associates were very friendly and had no problem with me trying on several pair before I found some flip flops that were both comfy and had arch support. I bought two pair of shoes the first visit and another on the second visit. I had good, friendly service both times and found the prices to be exactly the same or less than the prices at home.
