Well now! Looking for a place to have Sunday lunch on mothers day, I came across "The Lazy Shark"…read morein Boscombe, They offered a £7.00 Sunday lunch with 6 veg and a free glass of wine, There was also a "buy one, get the second free" and I read the reviews, it looked good so I phoned and booked a table for 5 adults and a kiddie for 1pm, the guy on the phone was very pleasant but not too with it! We turned up at 1pm sharp, the dining area was a little disappointing, drab and paper tablecloths, there were 6 tables, only one other table occupied by four people who had obviously ordered,. We ordered the Sunday lunch, and were told it might be half an hour, so we sat and sat and sat, our meal finally arrived at ten past two, Meat was reasonable, carrots not cooked, cauliflower cheese came separately in a bowl filled with milk "no cheese" at all, roast and boiled potatoes were of the precooked frozen type mostly inedible, peas, sweetcorn and cabbage, just about passable. We declined a sweet, really wanting to get out as quickly as possible as the bar adjoining was defining with the unruly behavior of a dozen or so at the bar. Our bill came at full price and no discount for the lack of wine. Won't be going back!!!!!!!!!!

The Lazy Shark is a bar/restaurant situated on Christchurch Road just off of Boscombe High Street…read more Fancying a bite to eat, I entered this establishment, not so much attracted by the relatively dull exterior but more so by the vibrant atmosphere emitting from inside. The inside had two parts to it, a bar side and a restaurant side which I found pleasantly quiet! Less than a minute after sitting down I was approached by a member of staff called Marie, who was friendly, welcoming and had my chosen drink at the table within another minute! The menu itself contained a range of main courses, desserts on a blackboard and 'shark bites' a combination of traditional starters and tapas dishes. I went for the relatively healthy Humous with vegetable batons and pitta bread as a starter (which was presented attractively and tasted great!) but decided the diet started tomorrow when it came to the main course - a 'Build Your Own Tower Burger' with chips, going for the relatively boring cheese, bacon and lettuce as toppings - everything from stilton to potato waffles were availible to put on it! The service was prompt once again and the burger itself was big enough to easily justify the £7 price tag, and tasty enough to be worth more! Throughout my meal the staff were helpful and accomadating, more than one meber of staff checked with me regularly to ensure that everything was ok with my meal. All in all, I sampled some great food and service, and the only question on my mind afterwards was why more people were not enjoying the excellent food on offer on a Friday afternoon!

Afternoon tea at Sandbanks? Hmmm I think, 'no thanks.' Probably not again, anyway…read more I visited the hotel for Afternoon Tea with my sisters to celebrate a birthday. We'd planned on sitting on the terrace overlooking the beautiful coastline, but the rainy weather got the better of us, so we opted for the interior lounge. It was clean and pleasant and cosy, but really no more exciting than your standard hotel communal space. Afternoon Tea is served between 3-6pm. I went up to the bar at 2:45pm to get the attention of the 5 members of staff milling about each other until one came over. I asked it I could place the order now and have it served at 3pm, but I was told I had to wait. Fair enough. I returned again at 3pm where the waitress checked her watch to see I wasn't cheating. In a country where the quintessential tea and cake experience is widely popular - especially in tourist traps - this was an average offering. The metal pots and canteen crockery were average. The scones, cake and sandwich slices were average. There wasn't enough cream and jam to go round. It was all quite heavy with no light accents in the offering of little fruits or macaroons to break up the stodginess that you see in other establishments (apart from a cute little meringue). And it's just shy of £15 for the privilege. The real selling point is the location and this place might have punched a little higher had the weather been better and the service a little less dismissive. We went for a taste of the high life and just got caught somewhere in the middle.

It's located in one of the best spot of the area but the premises and the facilities are outdated…read more(let's you travel back to the 80s) Unless you can get a promo fare daily rates are pricey... but breakfast (&wifi) is included! At least that!!! ;)
