The winery is huge with a lot of seating area outside and even a semi-private outside area where you can hear live music. They have a variety of different wine and the wine tasting cost gets deducted if you purchase a bottle which I think was such a great deal! We sat outside and enjoyed the weather. Unfortunately there wasn't a tour happening the day we went so we didn't get a chance to do that. There are lots of picturesque photo ops throughout the winery. Service was good while we were there and I would recommend visiting this winery over the others in the area mainly because there's such a great variety here. read more

We visited Sandbanks Winery as part of a tour of PEC wineries. Compared to other wineries, the patio could be a bit better; there are Muskoka chairs and picnic tables situated around the grass. The seating area is comfortable but there's no real vibe to the aesthetic. The wine was good, and our server was knowledgeable about the different wines offered by the winery. There were a few wines offered that could only be purchased at the winery; most of their wines can be purchased at the LCBO. read more

Had a fantastic first experience here at Sandbanks Winery! We reserved one of their gazebos located near the back of the winery and did not regret it. The gazebo offered a beautiful view of the vineyards and a bit of seclusion from the busier front entrance (though this area may get busier during weekends/holidays). Between the view, the wines, the sunshine, and the breeze, it was a wonderful experience. Among the wines we tasted, the Entre Nous Riesling Reserve (citrusy, peach notes), Summer Apple, and dessert wine (I liked this much better than ice wine) were top hits with our group. And the charcuterie/cheese selection was excellent too, even with the charcuterie food truck being closed that day. Visited the Sandbanks winery after making a reservation for 3 with my girls. The reservation area was exclusively located at the back of the winery in a small sandbox area with beach chairs under some shade. The reservation area was quiet enough to enjoy, relax and share a good conversation over some amazing wine with friends. The service was phenomenal, attentive and friendly. The process of how the winery operated was explained very well and served consistently. We had an amazing time here for a girlfriends getaway, and we had no problem ordering various specific wines that we have requested for. Probably one of my favourite wineries in the Price Edward County area. Went here with some friends over the summer for a wine tour and we had an amazing time here. The wine tour here is super interactive and there are different stations where a different employee would explain a specific wine, some interesting facts about it, and also provide a sample of wine to taste. They also provide a small piece of food (e.g. chocolate, popcorn, cheese) that is meant to be a complimentary food for that specific wine. The wine tour also shows a high level process of how the wine is made from start to finish. Overall, a very great experience and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to experience a wine tour in an interactive way. As part of the wine tour, you are also given a Sandbanks branded wine glass which you can take home! They wrap it up for you in the gift shop before you leave. Oh and the Apple Wine here is amazing stuff - it's in limited quantities and not available at LCBOs so definitely grab some if they are available. I'm definitely coming back here in the future. In terms of COVID protocols, this winery takes adequate measures. All the employees are wearing masks (and they encourage the guests to wear masks as well) and the different stations are spaced out to maintain appropriate social distancing. read more

Sandbanks Winery was the first stop on a recent wine tour of the region. I had no idea there were so many wineries in this area. We sampled several wines in their barrel room, not the main building. Our host(s) led us through the tasting with a brief explanation of each wine and also provided some background on the winery. Very interesting. I don't normally shop for Ontario wines but I have a preference for their whites over their reds. That remained true with the wines that we sampled here. That doesn't mean that any of them were bad, I just have my preferences. I actually quite liked one of the whites that was a little on the sweeter side but would be great for sipping on a hot summer day. It was refreshing. It's a pity I can't remember the name of it. Silly me should have taken a picture of the bottle, like I normally do. Duh! Along with the wines, there were samples of locally produced sausages and spreads. The sausages and one of the mustards were really good. Wandering through and around their main building, there were lots of areas set up for tastings and their store was very well stocked. This is the largest winery in the area. There were multiple tasting bars with a private room upstairs for group tastings. Cost of tasting is free if you purchase 2 bottles of wine. Selection was quite extensive with multiple whites and reds along with a few selections of Rose, sparkling and dessert wines. They also have a selection of cheeses, sausage, accessories and apparel available for purchase as well. The staff were friendly, pleasant and knowledgeable. The place was quite busy on Saturday but there was no wait because there were several tasting bars with 2-3 people behind the bar. read more

This is so far the best Winery that I have visited in prince Edward County. The atmosphere outside was great, with chairs to relax and drink some wine. Late harvest was my favourite wine that I sampled and purchased. Friendly testing wine staff that went over and above explain the different wines. EXCELLENT SERVICE! Out of all the wineries I have visited in Prince Edward County, this is definitely the best one due to their amazing customer service! As my group parked and walked towards the entrance, we were greeted by a staff member. He was very informative and told our group where to go depending on what we were doing. He told us about a free tour coming up in 30 minutes and gave us the location where to meet the host if we decide to join. My first impression of this winery was great. I thought it was very thoughtful of the winery to have somebody stand outside of the store entrance to greet customers and inform them where to go for the tours or where the tasting bar is. We proceeded to go inside the store and it was very crowded. Although they have multiple areas for tasting, the store was still very crowded. A staff member then approached my group of 6 and brought us to the private room upstairs for tasting. We proceeded to go upstairs to a quiet room with no other customers there. Our group sampled wines from their extensive list and we had a great time! The server was very knowledgeable. Overall, I highly recommend this winery given the excellent service. I bought a few bottles and I will definitely return the next time I am in PEC. read more

A recent tour of PEC brought us to Sandbanks winery for a private group tour in their rear private tasting/barrel room. The grounds of the winery were only a few minutes walk from the beach so be advised this a key stop before you bring a picnic to the beach and enjoy some of their local wine in one of the most beautiful provincial parks in the area. The second most beautiful place to enjoy a Sandbanks wine is in fact on the grounds of their vineyard. Between the laid-back atmosphere of muskoka chairs and communal tables, when the sky is blue and sun is in the sky there is no better place. The wines we got to try were all very good, so good in fact that I made sure to bring a few bottles home for myself, best of all was the very light resiling which had hints of peach in it! Amazing. Took a trip up to PEC this weekend. We stopped at 4 different wineries.....this was the best. The wine here was smooth and light. Perfect start to our PEC tour. Beautiful setting with plenty of Adirondack chairs to sit in outside. A good deal for 3 tastings for $6. But then if you buy a bottle it was free, not a bad deal. It was also centrally located in relation to at least 4 other wineries. Staff were great and friendly, they gave us recommendations for other places to stop on our trip. My only real complaint for lack of a better of word was my friend and I ended buying two wines that the saleswoman told us were on sale for $2. So we thought what a great we'll each buy 2. We wouldn't have picked them out otherwise, but $2 wine is a deal. When we checked the receipt it said they were 12.75 a piece. Going back inside we were told they were $2 off. I think it was the saleswoman accent or maybe just trying to push wine, or could have been my friend and I both misheard. Anyway that is my only real comment, not even a complainant I should say. Large selection of Excellent wines and world class visitors centre newly constructed in 2010. The nicely decorated, spacious and colourful shop features 3 large tasting bars and ample stock on display (with prices). There is also an outdoor gazebo-like tasting bar. All the staff seemed very friendly but the server (Megan) at our tasting bar was particularly pleasant and knowledgeable. We were guided through almost every wine available in a logical order. Snacks and paper with information about the wines were provided to help us make our buying decisions. Many people were walking out with cases full and I can see why. I recommend picking up the Summer, Gwertz and the Love (or anything you like that you can't get at the LCBO). The Dunes and Riesling are also recommended of course but can be bought at your local LCBO. The reds are also getting very good but they are not cheap. read more

This is one of the more popular wineries on the PEC trail. They have a large selection of wines - some of sold in the LCBO while others you can only get here. This is also one of the larger wineries so you never feel crowded even if its busy. They have several areas for tasting so even when busy you are never waiting too long. The tasting fee is waived if you buy 2 bottles - which isn't really hard because there is lots to choose from at all price points. The staff is really friendly and knowledgeable - tell them what you like and they will point you in the right direction. They answer all your questions and really spend time with you talking about the wine. Definitely a great stop every year as they always have new selection depending on the grapes! read more

Really amazing Winery. We went for a tasting that we reserved ahead of time. We were sent over to a covered bar area, and Chloe greeted us immediately and explained the process. She was extremely helpful with the types of wine and very genuine with her explanations and recommendations. We went through the list and tried a good amount of whites, reds and rosé's. Our favourite white was the Bay Of Quinte Apple Wine (this was very sweet and cider-like) but really yummy. Our favourite red was the Entre Nous Foch Reserve, very full body and tasted jammy. We also had the pizza, and tried two different ones. The prosciutto & arugula pizza, and the pepperoni julienne, both were delicious and made rather quickly. One surprise was that this winery was dog friendly (outside), so we will definitely consider bringing our dog next time. There is lots of seating and additional seating if you walk through the vineyard towards the house on the property. Overall we really enjoyed our experience and would definitely come back! It was really crowded in the front room and this very friendly young man approached us and asked if we were there for some wine tasting. We said we were and he said come with me. He took us to a back room where it was quiet. Peter was personable, knowledgeable and fun! It was a great hour. We all bought wine. I think my favourite was the Rose Pinot Grigio. I visited this winery in a party of five, and thoroughly enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. I am a teetotaller, so it is funny for me to review a winery, but Sandbanks also offered other "options" such as tasty carbonated drinks, delicious cheeses & crackers, and gourmet popcorn. This is great for younger patrons, or designated drivers as well. We started outside, at the socially distanced tables, but felt quite comfortably safe even when we went inside for the tasting. Our hostess, Maddy, was knowledgeable and a lot of fun. She was wearing a mask, of course, but her eyes were as sparkling as the wine, and we left feeling the bubbly mood of a most enjoyable visit.
