As a teacher up until last week (I gave my 2 weeks but was fired 4 days before my last day w no…read morenotice) the positives is it's a nice interior/exterior are clean for the most part. The teachers are absolutely wonderful, but get no back up from the administration or Owner when they express concerns, they are not "heard", "respected" nor "appreciated". These were my main complaints that led me leaving. From Feb. 3rd until the 14th I had expressed concerns on one of my toddlers not acting normal since a push from another student and he hit his face head first on the tile. When I would ask for someone to come check on him it would be forgotten for hours. I even went to the Owner with my concerns to be told that "it's a process." Finally on 2/14 after I had given notice the child had a seizure (he is 1 1/2 years old) and my assistant teacher called the owner and I text the director that his eyes rolled back and instead of calling 911 they came to my room to see that I took it upon myself to call 911 and was on the phone w them until they arrived. The child had a second seizure while the owner was in there and she did nothing, I held his head until he came to. I expressed my concerns on the child w the bad pushing habit because I had 3 non walkers and nothing was done. I told them he was going to hurt someone bad, and he did. This center is all about about image, money and appearance on the outside, when push comes to shove it's the teachers that are the glue. I expressed my concerns that if the safety issues and respect issues were corrected I would stay as I was there for the kids, I truly love them and wasn't there for a paycheck. (which by the way their tuition was through the roof and their pay for teachers and lead teachers is $10/hour) I wanted to go to work to experience these babies firsts words, walking, etc. I would go in at 6:30am and was suppose to get off at 3pm but never did. It was assumed I would stay until we were in ratio which would always be a couple hours later. This is why the children get attached to teachers and then the teachers leave. People that need the money can't afford to make $10/hr and when you have an owner calling to your room from sitting in her office watching cameras about where a teacher sits or how they clean (instead of waiting to see) is mind blowing for the pay. For instance same day I called 911 on the child having the seizure a couple hours passed and my director came in to tell me the owner said my counter needed to be cleaned off which we had already cleaned by that time. mind you we had just done a craft w glue and set them on the counter to dry literally a minute before the child seized and lunch also came during this time which my assistant was passing out the food while I was focused on the child and out of the owner coming to my room that's all she could worry about was that my counter was messy. This was a traumatic event for myself and assistant to try and keep our composure and that is what her take of the day is. Again, the teachers are excellent and try to do the best for the children, but when they have no one supporting them it's honestly just not worth it to stay. Also,, as looking through these reviews half are from employees..... so they are not accurate and it's how the rating has stayed higher than it should.

By 1903, two small schools, Bledsoe and Pleasant Grove, were combined and moved to a new two story building on the southwest corner of Highway 60 and Turkey Creek Road. The school didn't have air-conditioning in the building at that time, and teachers would open windows and vents to let air flow from classroom to classroom. In 1908 the first class of three students graduated from the new school. In 1927, a new 2-story brick building was completed. High school courses were added to the Turkey Creek School with a senior high graduating class in 1932. The Turkey Creek School like many schools in eastern Hillsborough County, was known as a strawberry school because it operated on a schedule based on the winter strawberry growing season. Strawberry schools closed for three months during the strawberry picking season in the winter rather than in the summer like most US schools. This practice was ended in 1956. Plant city is still known for its strong ties to strawberries. The Strawberry Festival held every March is one of the top festivals in the country. In 1972 the Turkey School closed but it is still owned by the Hillsborough County School District. The junior high school was converted into a middle school in 1995. In 1997 the building was saved from demolition and being turned into a parking lot. On March 2, 2001, it was added to the US National Register of Historic Places. A hstoric marker was erected outside the school in 2016 by the Hillsborough County Historical Advisory Council, Turkey Creek High School Alumni. The building currently stands empty as the school district struggles to find funds to finish restoring the building. If money was not an issue they would like to use the building as a library.

The tour was simple and informative. The application process felt thorough. The teachers and staff are all respectful. His main teacher is helpful, fun, and kind. He comes home every day with stories and we feel he's being taken care of. At the most recent school event, there were many faculty that knew him by his name. He loves it, so we love it. Definitely recommend checking this school out and meeting the staff.

This school is not what our students or any child with special needs truly need. They do not know…read morehow to handle them and the teachers just get out of college and are not equipped to work with students with need. All they do is call for an older women to get them but it's clear she don't even know what she's doing either. so please to ALL PARENTS THAT HAVE KIDS WITH AUTISM, OCD, and/or ADHD, DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE. Or they will look at you and give up on your child just cause they don't know how to handle them even if they say they do not. There is bullying in the school also and the bullies get away with it cause they will your kid for it and since the have needs they only effect them not the bullies. which we all know it's not right to do that. so please before this happens to your child like it did with mine do your research and don't let our kids fall in there hands again.

We came here for an event and had never been before. We only knew it should be held in the gym. I…read morearrived and parked in one lot where there were a lot of cars and some school buses. There was no signage and few people around. I stopped and asked a couple of students if they knew where we could find where we needed to be and they had no idea. We drove around to the office at Harrison and no one was around. My kid took a short walk and saw the back side of the gym. We drove around to the other side and found the main student parking lot and were finally able to find an adult who knew where we needed to be. We tried looking online and could not find a map of the school depicting where each building was. It is a large campus and not easy to get around. Other schools put up signage for events and usually have students volunteer to assist guests in finding where they need to be. We have done this event at other locations through the years and this was the most disappointing setup I have ever encountered. In the end we did get to our event and got to enjoy it thanks to me being early and having the time to screw around finding the right place. This school apparently needs a lot of work in many areas.

The quality, commitment, communication, and issues were and have been nonstop. I felt like they were finding things just to pick on my child or find things she can get in trouble with. I would not recommend this school even if your kid is dyslexic. I pulled my child from this school and I'm so glad we are no longer there!!

I would still be there if it weren't for being bullied out of my job by the cafeteria manager as she continues to bully and speak hateful of many tjat work there also... I myself feel alot better emotionally and physically being away from that kitchen as far as other staff and the children I miss them daily...
