The dog was a rare breed of dog, and they could tell she was not doing well in the selter environment. We contacted them immediately and told them we could help. I offered to take the dog into my home as a foster. The staff here was extremely friendly. By the next day I was able to make plans via email to go and pick her up. I drove the 2 hours to Portage to get her. When I got there the staff was again extrememly friendly, and it was easy to tell they all love the animals and work hard. If you are looking to add a new pet to your family. Make sure you check out the Columbia County Humane Society! They are a wonderful group of people helping the local animals.

Recently my dog has had some bloodwork issues - my vet asked if they could see the bloodwork from his neutering appt. to see if maybe the bloodwork is just normal for him(dog) however when I called Underdog to get the bloodwork they said they didn't do any-because we(dogs owners) didn't request it. This is something that should always be done and I am guessing the rescue place didn't want to pay for that therefore not important. My dogs life is important to me so If you take your dog or cat or whatever pet to this clinic - make sure you are asking the right questions - I personally wouldn't go here again. That test is to help find anything that might cause a problem during the operation. I would find another clinic.

i had the pleasure of volunteering at the country animal haven for a few weeks while being bored…read moreand unemployed in madison this winter. this place is an amazing no-kill, non-profit animal shelter. they provide a safe place for cats that are still waiting to find the perfect home. run completely by volunteers, this place is very well-kept, clean and organized. the cats have pretty much free run of the house and barn -- and only a few are kept in cages (the young kittens and the sick/ill-tempered). it is nice to see so many cats in one place with the freedom to roam as they please. also, i was amazed to see cats that got along so well with each other. the location is a bit off the beaten path, but it's well worth the visit. there are plenty of cats waiting to be adopted. also, i believe some of them are brought to petsmart and mounds to be showcased for adoption. in addition, if you have free time, lend a hand. volunteers are always appreciated! :)

Our Girl…read moreScout troop was able to help out a bit and were able to learn about the never ending cleaning and care that is given to the cats. These are volunteers who make it their mission to care for these animals. We try to get in a few times a year to help out. I should also say that we have received one cat from them who was in perfect health. And we had to surrender another cat that we found abandoned. Thank you for the work that you do!

Pints and pups...pups and pints…read more What's not to love? Throw in support for an amazing animal rescue and you've got yourself a feel good party. This was my first year at Pints for Pups and what a turn out! Milwaukee definitely knows how to show up for the love for dogs, beer, and worthy causes. Held at Camp Bar Tosa, Pints for Pups has grown to the point that it's reached street festival status. There are plenty of fun vendors (beer, of course, but also fun doggie-centric businesses to explore) and, of course, a ton of dogs! We brought our girl, Scout (Irish Setter extraordinaire). We enjoyed sipping some amazing craft brews while Scout met all kinds of new canine friends. All the dogg-os that we came in contact with were incredibly well-behaved, not to mention adorable. I spent the afternoon cooing my adoration to canines while drinking craft beer. Not sure about you, but that's pretty much my definition of heaven. Get to it! (You know...next year)

Pints for Pups is an annual event hosted by Camp Bar Tosa and MKE Brewing - they block off the street and the area descends upon the bar with their cute dogs. Now, know that Pups are not allowed IN the bar because some assface complained a few years ago - it's not the bar's fault. Dogs are more than welcome on both patios and will be scratched and petted to infinity. Double B's serves up tasty food (along with Bar pizza by Cranky's). There are raffles and dog related vendors. $1 from every MKE Brewing beer purchased goes to MADACC. This event is personal for us - our beautiful GSD is a MADACC alum, so we know firsthand how much good they do. I love Camp, I love dogs and I love this event. Big ups to everyone at Camp and MKE Brewing for supporting rescues!

Bentley had been well cared for and showed it. The Lakeshore Human Society was very professional and organized. They told me his history and why he was given up. I am his third owner. All of the other animals looked very happy as well. They had all of the necessary paperwork and full medical records for me of all of his vaccinations, neuter date, and microchip information. They were patient with me as I filled out my adoption paperwork, answered any questions I had, and were very personable. I'm planning to adopt another cat so my little buddy can have a friend when I have to be at work. It's a fantastic animal shelter and I wholeheartedly recommend them as an adoption facility. I have usually been pretty happy with the grooming at PetSmart for my miniature schnauzer, but the…read morelast 2 times were not good. The last time--a few days ago--was the last time I will take my dog there! Prior to taking my dog in for grooming, I always thoroughly brush him--especially his legs, which have longer fur. However, the groomer (who told me she "just graduated from grooming school," called me about an hour into the session to tell me that my dog had "a lot of matting in his legs," and that she would have to shave them! While I knew this was not possible, and I had TOLD her that I thoroughly brushed out his legs with a slicker brush, I also had a feeling that she had already made a mess of his legs, and shaving was the only option. He looks awful! She shaved his legs unevenly, and did not trim his ears at all!! His coat around his back, stomach, and chest are also choppy, and his tail is only partially trimmed!!! PetSmart just lost a steady customer. Some of their groomers do a good job, but several are terrible.

We found Gomez now named Onyx at Petco my husband fell in love and we put in the application for him we got approved pretty quickly but was unable to pick up until the next day, we really wanted to get him out of that small cage as soon as possible but they wouldn't make time. When i picked him up they were late and didn't call until she was almost 30 min late told me there was an emergency and she would be there in about another hour.... Ok fine she gets there and pick up takes less than 10 min so again don't know why this couldn't have been done the day prior. Either way he's such a sweet cat and super friendly, he's also incredibly weird he loves cat nip and all his toys.
