We found Gomez now named Onyx at Petco my husband fell in love and we put in the application for him we got approved pretty quickly but was unable to pick up until the next day, we really wanted to get him out of that small cage as soon as possible but they wouldn't make time. When i picked him up they were late and didn't call until she was almost 30 min late told me there was an emergency and she would be there in about another hour.... Ok fine she gets there and pick up takes less than 10 min so again don't know why this couldn't have been done the day prior. Either way he's such a sweet cat and super friendly, he's also incredibly weird he loves cat nip and all his toys.

I have had six or more Great Pyrenees (Pyr) dogs (I know the pros and cons). I have one now and we would like to add another to our family. I saw that The Sheboygan Humane Society had a Pyr that was up for adoption, so I spent the hour filling out their on line application. No one contacted me. So we went to the Sheboygan Humane Society to see the dog. I brought the family and our dog. We met the dog. Loved the dog. It's a Pyr. We asked if we could have our dog meet the shelter dog to make sure that they interacted well. They indicated that it would have to get approved and they would call us to set up a day and time. OK???? So.... we waited 4 days and no called us back. I left messages and finally they called me back and said that they would NOT allow the dog to go to a home that had other pets. This dog had been placed by the Humane Society four time and was returned by each family. The complaints of the previous owners were : Apparently, the dog does not like to be caged for 8 hours a day. It does not like cats and I don't like cats (smart dog). It barks. Pyrs Bark. It likes to stay outside (vs 8 hours in a cage). Seems one person, who has not met me, can determine I am not qualified. Is this the same person who place the dog in 4 homes of unqualified individuals?

My husband and I just adopted a dog here 3 days ago, and truly believe that, if we hadn't taken him home that day, he would not be alive now. The dog was neutered on Friday, shipped from Kentucky to Wisconsin on Friday or maybe Saturday, and up for adoption on Sunday, when we found him. He wasn't on any pain medication, nor did he have an e-collar to prevent him from licking his incision, which looked like it had been stitched up by someone with absolutely no veterinary training. He was at least 10 pounds underweight, and he desperately needed bathing. By Tuesday the sutures had popped open and he had a nasty infection, requiring a very expensive surgery. Testing before surgery revealed that he had pellets from a BB gun in one leg, had slight pneumonia, and has indicators of Lyme disease. None of this was disclosed when we adopted him. As another reviewer said, the $400 adoption fee (which is considered a "donation" and is non-refundable if you return the pet) would be fine if the pets were properly cared for and if all medical conditions were disclosed. It seems that the shelter owners want to get as many animals in and out as quickly as possible, with minimal investment in their care. In fact, the woman who worked with us said that they do not have a veterinarian on staff. As far as the facility: there was a strong smell of urine when we came into the building, and there were quite a few flies around. We didn't see where the animals are kept, but were told that all the dogs were in one area during the day, with access to go outdoors, and that at night they were in kennels, two or three to a kennel. Outdoor areas had privacy fencing so we couldn't see what they were like.

When we got the dogs, they seemed fine and healthy but unfortunately all three were exposed to parvo before making the trip to Wisconsin. When we chose to rescue rather than purchase from a breeder, we knew there were risks involved, especially rescuing a puppy who was too young to have had all of his shots yet. Jim and his crew stood by our puppies 100% and did everything in their power to bring the pups back to health. Two were treated at the rescue free of charge (ours included), and we firmly believe Jim saved their lives. During the process, he updated us twice daily and was available all times of the day and night once we brought Jack back home to answer questions about what was "normal" during parvo recovery. It's clear he is truly in this to help save dogs, and he saved ours. We are so grateful and can't speak highly enough about our experience. So many of the negative reviews feel really unfair. When you rescue, you are bringing home a dog from a high population area who has been exposed to lots of different environmental factors. To expect a blank slate is unrealistic. Saving dogs takes work, and we knew that going in to the experience. To Jim and everyone at NEW Paws, thank you SO MUCH for bringing our amazing dog into our life. He fits into our family so perfectly, and we can't imagine a life without Jack. He's truly one of our pack and has brought so much joy to our home.

I asked a few basic questions and found out that it was a place where I could go walking on trails with my service dog. We love to walk trails so I became fixated on finding out where this place was. It's only about 12 minutes away from my home so I decided we should find it. We took a Sunday drive to go look for it and I am so happy we did. This is a beautiful, natural preserve. I really hope that people that come here will make the effort to keep it beautiful. The trails are long and clean and they extend onward forever. The air is crisp and cool and inviting. I just wanted to walk off into the sunset and never come back. I was reminded of all the times I went volksmarching in Germany. They were the happiest times of my tour of Germany. I love being out in nature so I know my service dog and I will come here often. I can't wait to bring a friend and explore the trails. It's a little daunting because the trails go on and on. I wasn't comfortable going alone but I just know great adventures await us. If you love being outside and close to nature, you'll have to explore this place. Be respectful. Keep it clean. Take your trash back with you. Don't leave dog poop everywhere. Let's work hard to keep places like this open and available for everyone to enjoy. My dog and I were only out for about 20 minutes but I felt revived. I felt renewed. I felt reconnected to the earth.

They help hoarders, bring dogs from kill shelters down south and Wisconsin, they help people when they need to surrender their animals for personal reasons. We continued to use Darcy Woo, but this last hair cut was the last ! The groomer even admitted she screwed up on her ears, boy she wasn't wrong! Then to top it off she picked up Maggie out of the coral she had her in and as she was turning around, she drop Maggie! Maggie landed on her flat on her belly! Ever since she's been home she's been hacking, and now started with seizures last night! Booster is abrasive, manipulative, and extremely unpredictable. She told me she would have me as a groomer once I was trained and then later told me I was more useful as an assistant. This meant doing all of her work for her, almost completing full grooms sometimes but paid as an assistant and not a groomer, no sharing of tips happened when I would do 90% of the groom either. There is a revolving door here of employees and for good reason.

I bought a bubble eye goldfish from Colonial Pet Shoppe in Manitowoc and a few days later he showed…read moresigns of ick. I started treatment immediately and went back to the store for a new filter. This is when I noticed the tank I bought my fish from was infested with ick and it was not quarantined. At home the ick spread in my tank despite my best efforts. Daily 20% water changes, daily treatment, removed the filter, and increased the water temperature. After a week of diligent treatment the ick did not budge. So today I found a new treatment. Unfortunately I came home to find more casualties. My tank of 5 baby fancy goldfish, 1 Cory cat, 2 snails and 7 guppies has been decimated. I'm now left with 1 snail. I 100% blame Colonial Pet Shoppe for their lack of animal care leading to this infestation. I will never buy fish from them again and I recommend you don't either. They also have a wide variety of lizards, reptiles, rodents, birds, and the occasional batch of ferrets, bunnies and kitties. Having three lizards myself: this is the cheapest place I have found for crickets, and it blows Petco's prices out of the water. Some of the other pet items are a little more pricey, but it's definitely worth it when you're supporting your local business-owner. :)
