Sandra's doughnuts are the best doughnuts I have ever had. You don't know what your missing if you have never been there they fill there doughnuts up unlike many other places that just put a dab of filling in them. Are favorite has to be the cream cheese doughnuts they are absolutely delicious. I just wish they would stay open a little longer in the afternoons and in the summer they really need to stay on top of the flies that come in. The staff is very helpful and very friendly. Sandra should teach Krispy Creme, Dunkin Donuts, and all others how to make donuts. They are perfectly fluffy, and never taste old. The glaze is applied perfectly, and never too much or too little. 2 star rating is for the establishment as a whole (lack of cleanliness). If I was only reviewing their doughnuts I would've given 5 stars easily. They're THAT good; loads better than KK, & I love KK! After checking out the reviews I had to give this place a try. Boy am I glad I did! People aren't lying when they say the doughnuts are better than KK or DD. They are delicious! Took a dozen home to my family, and a bear claw for the road :) - Everyone loved their doughnuts! I have to nit pick about the cleanliness of their establishment though. I seriously almost walked out once I saw the flies in the doughnut displays; there were even some dead ones hanging out in their too. Don't get me wrong, their products are delicious, but their lack of cleanliness is a definite turn-off. I don't know how their cleaning standards are in the back where they bake the goodies, but if their front looks like it does, one would assume the back is the same or worse. I hope the owner/management cracks the whip & enforces an indepth cleaning regimen; please clean those flies out of the displays, because that is just plain gross! Other than that, great doughnuts! I would absolutely make the 30 minute drive to get some of their delicious doughnuts IF they would tidy up some. Seeing dead bugs near their products doesn't sit well with me. read more

I don't know why this place has such good reviews? Maybe cause it's it's the only place in this town that serves donuts and there's nothing to compare it to but it's not good. The donuts were too doughy, not fluffy at all. The chocolate and glaze in the donuts were like a solid coating of thick over sugary icing. The custard was minimal which was fine since it was more sugar than custard. The raspberry filling tasted like they just used a jar of jelly, aweful. On top of all of this, they are pretty much a cash only kind of establishment. You want to use a card or debit card and you have to pay a $10 minimum. Never again. read more

This was my first time going to Sandras. Let me start by saying that I have had their Donuts many times, but they have always been brought to us by family that lives closer. The Donuts themselves are Amazing and my family's favorite. Knowing that they are a popular place, and very busy I pre-ordered 5 dozen Donuts 24 hours in advance. We live 40 minutes away, so the plan was to get a lot and freeze part of the order. I had placed the order to be picked up between 11&12, and I received a phone call at 10:50 (when I was already on my 40 min trek in the pouring rain) to let me know they hadn't even cut the Donuts yet and they wouldn't be ready until 12. I decided to continue on, as I had never physically been there, and that I would just wait for the order. As I turned the corner to the bakery, the whole block smelled of freshly baked goodness. My mouth instantly began to water. Unfortunately, this was where the fun stopped. I went in at 11:45 to go ahead and pay for my order and to pick out a dozen of assorted Donuts from the case for other people. When I went in the ladies there gave me a "Deer in Headlights" look and immediately started making excuses. They let me know that they hadn't even begun to fry my 5 dozen Donuts and that the dough itself wasn't all the way proofed. I got a "Sorry" and was told they had been very busy not just with pre-orders but also with large walk in orders. I expressed a little bit of displeasure since I had purposely ordered ahead of time and my order should have been spoken for. One ladies response was..."Well not everyone here does it the way it should be and looks to make sure pre-orders are filled like I do". I responded with instead of calling me and letting me know that my order wasn't ready, those people that didn't have the foresight to call ahead should have been told they were out, or to.come back later. I also informed them that I had traveled 40 minutes for an order, and a different lady responded with "They have bakeries up there, don't they?"...and also upon hearing that I was going to freeze part of the order she implies that I could have just come next week to get my order. This entire experience was absolutely absurd! No...I couldn't come next week!....I ordered them for TODAY!....24HRS IN ADVANCE!!! What did I get for all of this trouble???....Nothing but an I'm sorry. Not a discount....not a free dozen....not even a free dozen card for my next visit. Having been in the restaurant industry for 18 years....u understand that things happen. But this was downright poor customer service, and not the way a customer should be treated. I don't expect things for free...but when you drop the ball this bad.....you should go out of your way to remedy the situation. Sandra...as someone who has met you, and once took extremely great care of you and your husband at a very nice seafood restaurant in Cary...just because that's how you treat guests who travel long distances and because you were out for a nice dinner and owned my favorite donut shop. I am disappointed in the level of customer service that your bakery showed me, and hope that I am not in the norm. I think I will take your employees advice and fighting started a bakery closer to home, since obviously Sandras doesn't care about my business! read more

I went in looking for a great bakery and this is a mediocre bakery. Good if you are looking for simple baked goods and not even that. I would call them a donut shop not a bakery. I got a cherry and strawberry yum yum and a cinnamon critter all for under 6 dollars but the cherry and strawberry deserts were canned and not homemade which is what i look for in a bakery. read more

Great donuts. The apple fritter is fantastic. It's not close to me however whenever I'm in the area I stop by if they're open. They can be a little heavy on the glaze but I scrape off what I don't want or I have a nice cup of unsweetened coffee nearby. They have many varieties of donuts and cookies. The doughnuts just magically showed up this morning while working on some writing, and I couldn't have been happier. I had to ask around where they box came from. These are hefty doughnuts, with a very light and delicate texture that just dares you to stop eating it. I tried. I only wanted half of this doughnut, but it taunted me, and the second I started eating it, my stomach told my brain to shut up and leave us be for a while.
