Food (3 stars): We tried the sticky bun, cinnamon bun with icing and a cheese danish. The icing on the cinnamon roll was the best part. Both buns were more on the dry/bread-like side and I prefer a soft/gooey-middle bun. The cheese danish was our least favorite. I think all of the pastries would have been better warmed, so I would recommend taking your baked goods home and microwaving before eating. Coffee (2.5 stars): As recommended by another Yelper, get coffee at a nearby coffee shop. Oh mercy. Is it possible to be addicted to cinnamon rolls?? Yep, I am. This time I went late in the day do they were low on choices, but since I love all of them, it was no problem. An adorable bakery with great coffee and staff. We enjoyed the sticky bun the most, and went back for seconds at the end. They make fresh bread daily and have a schedule so you can plan ahead for your selection. The interactions with the staff definitely make you feel like you're home and in the South. The hospitality was refreshing, and customer appreciation was made clear. There is open seating, but there are a couple spots near the window, and they allowed us to have a semi-private breakfast date. read more

Super cute place. I ordered the bananas fosters latte and a couple scones. The latte was like watered down so I personally wasn't a fan. The bacon cheddar scone and pretzel was really nice and the whole family enjoyed it. However, the blueberry scone almost tasted undercooked so it was a let down. My friend from FV always told me how delicious Stick Boy is so we took a little drive to check it out. I didn't have time to sit and eat in so just grabbed a few items to go. I got the blueberry scone, sticky bun and pretzel. All of the other pastries looked equally delicious. The service was great and they were very fast and efficient. Love this local bakery! They have an assortment of baked goods. My favorite item is the cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting, my husband likes the sticky bun. They also have different breads they sell each day. The yeast rolls on Friday are so delicious! If you're ever in Fuquay Varina, it's definitely worth a visit. read more

How have I never reviewed Stick Boy? Been a fan since I moved here in 2007. Stick-Boy is in Fuquay. There's parking in various places nearby in lots and on the street. It's such a cute shop with some seating inside & outside. Great coffee, friendly staff, delicious sweets & bread. Sourdough is amazing. Try the Sweet Potato Marshmallow Brioche as French toast.. you're welcome. My kids love the chocolate chip cookies. Their carrot cake is my favorite. In December try the peppermint ganache cake. Came down here to visit family and needed a morning jolt. Stopped into Stick Boy and glad I did! I got a great Latte and Turtle Latte, and then the baked goods! Quite the array. What a great little place! The array of breads looked high quality, but I was in there for sugar. Bought a blueberry sour cream coffee cake, which we've been nibbling on for days. Had a piece of lemon lavender cake, which was the EXACT right balance of citrus to lavender. And when I said it was my first time in, they offered me a free cookie. This is a charming little spot. It was my first visit and I was a little confused with the ordering process. The staff wasn't that helpful that looked annoyed that I was taking my time. However, walking in, I was greeted by the delightful aroma of fresh bakery items.We ordered coffee, chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, a blueberry scone and a cherry-lime biscotti. Came by after a visit to the FV farmer's market and grabbed a couple of coffees. Tucked in to the downtown area, Stick Boy has a cute small cafe vibe (similar to Amelie's) and lots of bakery options! They sell freshly made biscuits, pizza dough, and pastries. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We got the bacon cheddar brioche and blueberry bagel and both were delicious! The lattes were, dare I say, much better than Starbucks! And cheaper too! I think we found our new coffee spot! 9/10 - I would give them a perfect 10 if they served breakfast options! Very very nice looking place. I was excited to see a new shop challenge my dedication to Cultivate. However, that didn't happen, but I was mostly pleased. About 3.5 stars worth of pleased. Like I said, it's got a beautiful feel to it. I like the atmosphere and simple but effective decor. There was barely audible music coming from somewhere. Have a look at their mission statement. I liked what they were saying. My biggest gripe...a gripe worth two whole stars, but I'm feeling positive and forgiving today, so I'll round up from 3 stars to 3.5. The worst thing about this place is the coffee. No, the coffee I ordered wasn't bad. But no self-respecting coffee shop should have Best Buy dates on their shelf. Roast dates only. Or don't buy it. That's the rule for real coffee aficionados. Without them, you're not a coffee shop - you're a grocery store. Best buy dates = stale coffee. The truffles were very rich but tasty enough. No complaints about the espresso. I feel like this shop has promise, with a great environment and probably fantastic pastries. Since sugar isn't really my thing, and coffee is, I'd happily give them love for their baking powers. But not for their coffee. read more

Stick Boy has been one my absolute favorite discoveries in all of Fuquay-Varina since moving here two years ago. It's a local family owned bakery that makes handcrafted pastries and bread, and man do they absolutely knock it out of the park. Don't even get me started on the sourdough bread, it's a go-to order of ours and it's so dang good! I just love that I can come here in the morning, grab my favorite pastry (they have an amazing selection!), some coffee, have a nice conversation with the staff, and get my bread for the week when it's time. Everyone who works here is super pleasant with a true customer service attitude, and each visit is one I look forward to. Stick Boy also offers a mug club deal in which you purchase a mug (for a higher price) and receive free drip coffee and cold brew coffee for the entire year! It's such an epic deal especially for folks who drink coffee out every day. I won't speak on the current price, as it's now 2023 and may be different then it was last year, but it's always an amazing deal that's cheaper than purchasing coffee individually every day. So, it's worth considering if you live in Fuquay and drink coffee every morning. Verdict: If you're looking for a place to grab fresh pastries and coffee and need a new regular spot, or if you're just in the area and looking for a place to stop by, look no further. OMG! What a find! Ever since my sister moved to NC from NJ over 20 years ago I haven't really found a great bakery. This place was awesome. Sure, not as large as a selection as at home but it definitely fits the bill. I went on some other fellow Yelper reviews and went with the sticky bun with walnuts and raisins as well as 2 cinnamon buns because you never know who may want some when they come over and an iced grasshopper latte. Everything was soooo good. I'm not even sure if my sister has come here before being that she works in Fuquay but she doesn't venture out like I do. Unfortunately, the cookie fell flat...little to no flavor and was more on the "cakey side" then cookie...so if you like that I recommend you try it out you may enjoy it. The key lime pie was just OK. Not sure what happened to my whole slice, but it was presented just as it is in my photo. I did an online order for Parmesan peppercorn and sweet potato struan loafs sliced. The Parmesan peppercorn is best toasted with red pepper hummus. The sweet potato struan can take my money, my house, and my cars iykyk. That bread is so darn good that a driver being erratic instead of pissing me off it just saved them haha.
