But I had them replace the whole roof and used a membrane over entire roof. Now shingles are just for show really. Rush credited credited me back for items not installed when home built. Owner/manager attended to sort out issues and have been happy with roof coming on 10 years. Easy to work with. In photo you see that shingles not staggered properly but really a cosmetic item. Reviews are important. If you put a membrane over your whole roof it will never leak even after the shingles give out. Everyone says not necessarily; but, I will have the best roof even after I am done.

The prep work that was done was exceptional. Jed Johnson is also experienced in construction, as well as working with design builders. His understanding of how a home is constructed makes for a higher caliber of painting professional. Jed was able to help preserve the exterior wood trim, and added additional weatherproofing to our shutters and gables. Home has been caulked to the Nth degree. Most downspouts and all the shutters were removed in order to paint the underlying wood trim. Then as the shutters and downspouts were replaced, the screw holes were caulked for further waterproofing. The wood trim was back brushed, which makes for a smoother and thicker coating of paint, which also will last much longer than sprayed on. Jed and his crew went the extra mile on everything. Jed found several areas where leaks could potentially cause problems and made repairs. For the first time in the history of our home- it is now watertight. The crew was very professional, courteous and hardworking. The guys worked just as hard and consistently even when Jed was not on-site. The estimate for our home was much more reasonable than the bids I had gotten from other contractors. Painting was completed in a timely fashion, when the weather permitted. I highly recommend Ashlar Painting and Building services. Our home now looks better than it did when it was new. I would also like to say that Jax, the owner, has a friendly demeanor but everything related to my project was a disaster. To make a long story short - the job was never completed - the owner gave up eventually not even completing the boarding when it should have been completed to a level 5 finish (ceiling) and painted throughout. - the owner and partner at the time rarely showed up and absences and late arrivals were met with excuses (and there were plenty)...5 weeks for a partially boarded basement. - the workmanship was poor (suspected by me and confirmed by other experts) and required the drywall to be torn out. - I watched as a drywall section that I purchased was taken to another client (bit my tongue while watching this on one occasion). All they had to do was ask if they could take a scrap piece. - No effort was taken to reduce the cost that I was paying for material. I had to renegotiate one particular order myself. - No effort to rationalize the retainer that was paid upfront as goodwill upon my termination of the project In conclusion, the lack of effort cost me financially and was stressful. They were completely unreasonable, unprofessional and unqualified. There was no "Luxury" in this company's work. Although Jax is a nice person I would never again hire this individual or this company.
