I would like to start out by saying that the Nurses and CNA's are Awesome! My Husband has been here since they transferred him from the hospital with low sodium and high blood pressure. He had been getting excellent care from the staff. I would like to give a shout out to these people, Nurse Selena, she really works great with the patients and is always friendly to everyone Gringo and Kristi the night Nurses do an Awesome job as well Dea who is a CNA she really works great with all the patients and is very gentle with the patients who needs extra care. Katrina who is also a CNA she is also great on what she does. All the other staff who works here in the Wing: Valley of Fire are amazing In closing, that if I was a head of a major Hospital and I needed to hire Nurses and CNA's I would hire them immediately that's how good they are with the kind of care they give to all their patients. read more

Avoid at all costs‼ How this facility still maintains its licensing is beyond me? My mother was moved there on Christmas Eve 2023 and discharged three weeks later. Due to staffing issues we almost had to have the police involved to get her released against medical advice because nobody was on staff that weekend that could release my mother. First if a patient presses the call button it can remain on anywhere from 5 minutes to 4 hours. Pretty sad when at the nurses station they have a sign hanging on the wall stating that the call button is the only way for the patient to request help and it should be answered. Second, for a patient to be left in a wheelchair for over three hours due to staff shortages is unacceptable. Third, Lord forbid you need some type of changing or bathing, You will lie in your own fluids for hours upon a time. And then when you get lucky enough to be released, their billing department (seems to be the only place in that facility with no staffing issues ) will bill you for days they should've wrote off. Oh almost forgot about this point, let's not forget the code blue or code whatever color when a patient wonders off from the facility. read more

While the care is very good, today Nov 8, the air conditioning has been running non-stop since early morning, 5 or 6 a.m. it is absolutely freezing. Have 3 blankets plus a fleece jacket & still cold. Bighttime & early temps drop to the 50s, soon down to 40s. Need HEAT NOT A/C. read more

After my husband was transferred from Spring Valley Hospital to continue his healing from a stroke with physical, occupational, and speech therapy at Sandstone Spring Valley, he was treated with the utmost care by all of the staff members, even including the janitorial team! I spent every day there during my husband's month and a half recovery so I met quite a few of the staff. Thank you for hiring people who actually CARE about what they do! read more

Most of these negative reviews have merit. This place is much better than the last place I was in before, after a fall. Food is a little better, but not by much, they cut back on condiments, they brought me a Caesar salad without a dressing, they brought me cereal without milk, etc. They never bring the salt or pepper. My coffee is usually cold to lukewarm. I must be on the end of the route for the food chain. It was after 1:45 before I got lunch today. Breakfast usually comes right before 9 am and I forget what time dinner is, before 7 I know. . Nurses are iffy at best, but again, much better than the last place I was in after a fall. Some are good, some are not so good. It takes forever for them to answer the call light. If they don't want to do something, they disappear, never to return. They usually act as if they're in a hurry when they come in and take your vitals or blood pressure or whatever. When they come in, they do whatever it is they were assigned to do and then they leave right away so you don't have time to ask a question, or to see if they'll do something for you or whatever. Some, a very few, are not that way. Physical therapy so far has been good. I did have one guy that man handled me because I didn't do as he wanted or as quickly as he wanted me to and he got pissed and brought me back to the bed and ended my session early. All in all, as I said before, this place is much better than the hell hole I was in before after a previous fall. This was my choice after reviewing many while still in the hospital. Horrible, horrible, horrible place I would never trust them to care for my loved one! If I could give zero stars I would. I had the experience of staying there for one day - for rehabilitation after a heart attack and had to be transported back to the hospital the very next day. I was supposed to be in acute care, and they put me in sub-acute care. The head nurse who was a man - rude, obnoxious and would not give me the medicine I needed. I had no medication from the time I was delivered by ambulance until the next day when I had to be taken back to the hospital and the Paramedics administered what they could. No one would come to my aid when I needed to get out of the bed during the night and ended up crawling to the bathroom and then could not get back in bed. I sat there. No one checked on me the entire night. Therefore, I ended up having another heart attack and adrenal crisis. The medical assistant couldn't take my blood pressure- and acted like she did not know what to do. The room became chaotic, with medical assistants and nurses who didn't know what to do just watching me while I couldn't breathe and having chest pain. Get this-no one knew how to work the defibrillator and then found out it was broken. When the paramedics came and by the way - I had to call them- the paramedics made the medical staff leave the room due to their incompetence. Thank God, my daughter arrived at about the same time the paramedics did after and told them exactly what was happening. I don't remember much after that as I was going in and out of consciousness, I think. Filthy place and smells like death. Don't ever sit in their wheelchairs -the one they put me in to go to the bathroom had poop all over it. The good thing is - thank you God, I am alive - thanks to efficient Paramedics and the hospital staff at Southern Hills Hospital. Which by the way was the best. By the way, I did complain to my insurance company and they sent a letter to Sandstone. Did not even hear from them- no apology no nothing. I definitely should have sued them for negligence. read more

The Activity Director, Vangi, Elizabeth and La La were extremely friendly, helpful and hospitable. All of the Therapists were great! Helpful & courteous beyond words. This place deserves 0 stars. My husband has been there for 5 days. EVERYTHING in prior reviews is accurate! The nurses respond very slowly. The food is TRASH. I spend most of my time and money trying to bring food. The sheets have holes in them and are not changed daily. Especially for a burn victim - this is unacceptable. Horrible facility! My sister was in there for a brief stay until she had to be transferred to the hospital with 3 horrendous-MEDICAL FACILITY contracted bacterial infections (Klebsiella, e-Coli, Enterobacterales) where she remained in ICU in very poor condition. The staff was rude and neglected her due to their opinion she had lice. I found this out when I was finally able to speak to a male nurse after numerous attempts..He said he found lice and rubbed some cream on it in her pubic region!!!!! Very concerning!!! And if she did have lice, she must have contracted that from Sandstone because she didn't have it in the hospital before when she was transferred to said facility. I've asked for a copy of her intake form which would have disclosed "lice" but never got a response. Her nurse did show up, during my visit, to apologize to her for yelling at her for not eating. Even when I was standing in the hallway, a supervisor, or someone "higher up" said I shouldn't be out there with a gown on. Well, if they had competent staff, maybe I would have been informed of the rules. I didn't get that memo. They also performed a procedure for a PICC line, which was immediately removed when she got to the hospital. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! Disgusting!! read more

I wish I had I took the name and location and believed it to be 4 plus star facility well that was not the case I would prefer no stars, however you must leave a star rating to review. It was hot in the room ac unit not working and you could here staff mumbling amongst eachother, "again the air is out" that's bad considering the population served. And the other day my uncle had a seizure and sent out due to being startled, by a fire alarm system, being tested early in the morning I'm almost positive the staff was aware of this how come the patients weren't aware that way they could prepare their body and mind for the startling noise that can send them into shock. one of the absolute worst places I have ever worke. ALWAYS understaffef, pays nothing and the fill in DON is one absolute overbearing, micromanaging, self absorbed person. She ruined the good staff we had by either firing or running off the good staff and keeping the lazy sleepers like you see in prior pictures. Needless to say I do not currently work there as they "fired" me while I was on my supposed paid vacation that I earned by putting up with this hot tropical mess of a job for almost a year. This place was a nightmare! Was there 4 days. I never saw a physical therapist. They were not consistent with my medications. I had medical issues that they did not address. I had one nurse come in saying the F word because she was upset that i called her because i needed help. On the 4th day, my daughter came over. She called 911 and they took me out of there. I was taken to the ER at the hospital and apparently my kidneys were giving up because of my medical issues that I had and I felt like it saved my life that I got out of there! In another note, we have a friend that died there. They could not tell the family why he died. They could not find his cell phone. They could not find his wallet. I am currently a patient here and this place is horrible. I arrived on a weekend and was just placed in a bed. I wasn't told anything about my care, how things flow, tour of the facility, or nothing. If you aren't aware of your medications, you most likely will not get them or will be extremely delayed. Even with live saving medication, it's nothing to them. They know you are coming and should have those meds waiting. I'm very aware of my meds and what is given to me. I'm not a nurse or CNA but I'm in healthcare and have been on top of it since day 1. My body really tells me certain meds are missing from my body. I've received a couple days of therapy and they have been a little helpful. I don't like they're no schedule or routine. Sometimes they would come in here while I was sleeping and think you're supposed to just get up and be ready to go to therapy. I really want and need the therapy but give me time to prepare. The CNAs barely show up when that call light goes off and barely show up in a timely manner. It's gotten alot better though but if you need assistance to go to the bathroom, count on having a few accidents. I had to force myself to go to the bedside commode alone to keep this from happening. I have a high fall rush but I'm as careful as I can be. But using the restroom is a bodily function you have no control over but they don't care. Most are from a certain demographic area and are very rude, harsh, and uncaring. I had to force them to know I exist, I'm here, I'm here cuz I need help, and I'm human. The food is hit or miss. Still haven't been told about other food options or even how to order. I've had to order out a few times and have to let the CNAs beforehand that I'm ordering and please bring my food so it won't get cold. And still is delayed. My doctor is actually AMAZING and has been really good getting me the care and other doctors I need to see (cardio and kidney doctor). She's very easy to talk to and really listens to me and my concerns. If something not flowing correctly, she investigates to see where the hiccup happened and to prevent it from happening again or educate me on the situation. Now to the nurses. They are basically here to pass meds only. If you don't know about your meds, your condition, they do not care as that's not they job to care besides anything other than passing meds. I had a complete blow out with a nurse thinking she's gonna talk to me crazy or rude like I'm not human. After all was over, we got back on the right page and we're fine. The day nurse seems very fair and condescending like I'm stupid. I have a strong healthcare background so I know a lot, especially about these kind of facilities. I'm here for a purpose which is therapy and to get stronger. You need to advocate for yourself or have family do it. Do what you have to do so you can get out of there. And I haven't had water in my body since arriving and still in my hospital gown. I've been using body wipes to half ass wash up but I'm asking today. I feel so yucky read more

One star is too many. From the top to the bottom, this place is garbage. From Tracy Brantley (administrator) to Darvy (Director of Nursing) to Gor-Don the so called social worker. Case manager Gigi is amazing. Nurse Jerry is trustworthy and amazing. RT Jacqueline and Roxanne are awesome as well! Darvy is a liar. Emily the Lead RT is a liar and untrustworthy with your loved one. The MAJORITY of the staff is horrible. Staff sleeps at night. They are rude. They are only there for a paycheck. If you are forced to admit your loved one, stay with them, including overnight. If that's not possible, place a cam in the room l, it's your legal right. Make sure you have a memory card to record everything!! If you have a choice where they go, stay far, far away from this place! They don't care! Your loved one might be left off oxygen and 98% of the staff can't take manual blood pressure readings!! read more

The care at the facility is ok. I was scheduled for surgery and assured transport was arranged. No one was scheduled to take me. After surgery, no one was scheduled to take me back to the facility. The was a double screw up. I Will NOT recommend this place to anyone. There doesn't seem to be any communication between staff members. Michelle is my case manager. This place is a s--thole. Director of nursing is a very nice gal but she has ZERO control over CNA's or LPN's. I would go for PT or try in the morning and take my pain meds about 30 minutes before. One morning the LPN was no where to be found. He left the premises for more than an hour and it was not his break time. I will say 1 LPN, Mark, was great. He was constantly doing the CNA's jobs. He really should find a job where he is appreciated. The CNA's are horrible and lazy. I was there for about 6 or 7 weeks and had 1 shower. At night the CNA would come in at about 6:30 and announce she is the only one there for 30+ rooms. I have been left in a pile of crap for over 4 1/2 hours. This happened more than once. It wasn't until my RN daughter came in to visit from Utah that I got cleaned up which took over an hour. And not to mention how very often they ran out of wipes and briefs. PT & OT did NOTHING for me. I also noticed the great majority of patients who were on Medicaid were using this place like a hotel for homeless persons. Case manager was a big f--king joke. No one returns phone calls if you can get to a voicemail. I was in the hospital for 4 extra weeks because SANDSTONE would never answer the phone. This place should be shut down. read more

The nurses don't give out the medication on time. One nurse tried to shove medication down my throat. The reason she did that because she told me she spilled a little bit of water in the cup where my medication was. I don't understand why she didn't ask me. I just spoke to the manager and I received a different nurse. The same old nurse does walk the hall and she knocks on my door deliberately to scare me and wake me up. I have to teach myself how to go to the bathroom in bed as I have a broken leg nonweight bearing. As nearly all reviewers before me have mentioned, this place is horrible. My mom was there following a surgery. Her surgeon and gp expected she'd need 3 days of PT/OT in order to get steady enough to get home. It was over a month. My mom is a very smart, very educated, very active woman. Her slow recovery is directly due to lack of care. Not substandard care - actual lack of care. She would go days without any therapy, and then they would show up, have her use a walker to get to the bathroom, then they'd leave. She spent most of a day in awful pain, and even with multiple requests that someone check on her, they left her sitting in a dirty adult diaper. They very often do not pick up the phone, so it is nearly impossible to get help or information. There is significant insurance fraud happening in this facility. We reviewed notes from my mom's traumatic and ridiculous stay, and the services she received do not match what they billed for. As most others have said, steer clear of this facility. read more

This "business" just left a message today to say that they "found more of my mother's items: ipad, purse, other missing items that they stole. They state for either my sister or I to come and get it. Funny how they said there was "nothing else found that they had of hers", yet here we are months after they killed my mother and telling us this "whoopsie y'all better come get her stuff". We live in another state and you want us to go get it because you "don't mail things"? GTFO! You STOLE my mom's stuff and you KILLED MY MOTHER. You have the audacity to give us a "we don't mail so y'all just going to have to come get it"? I was there TWICE already and the first screw up you gave me someone else's moldy clothes. This place was not at all communicative with myself or my family at the time my father was there, they didn't seem to care for him as good as the last rehabilitation facility he was at before this one. It was extremely hard to get ahold of anyone in there to see what the status was while my father was getting treatment. My sister and I had Power of attorney over his medical and you would think that it would of been more communication but nope! My father passed away here and I still feel like something is up here. He was doing great before he got transferred to this location. Update! 09/22/2021 My father passed away on 09/01/2021 Reason unknown at this time because doctor Adrian Adrian has not signed off on the permit for cremation which they are given 48 hrs by law to sign. It's been past 2 weeks already and we are still waiting and have lots of unanswered questions. Calling here is a run around with nobody available thats in "charge" My family and I just want to bring him home to San Francisco California. Many 1 star reviews say that they would give this place 0 stars if they could. This is another one. I just spent 2 weeks there after a bad fall. A majority of the meals were stone cold. Not just not hot enough, but no residual heat at all. Since many breakfasts were eggs, they were especially bad. A nurse said that they used to get 6 meals at a time. Now they get 20. The next batch arrives before the current batch is distributed. They say that management is aware of the problem, they just don't care. In the 2 weeks that I was there, I only got 1 meal that I would not have sent back at a restaurant. Many side items were simply not there. Bread without butter several times. Pancakes or French Toast without syrup. Salt and pepper were almost never on the tray. None of the food was very good. Only a couple of the meals were horrible. None were excellent. Their baker, however, is excellent. The cookies and brownies were very good. Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy seemed to have gone to the Vanna White school of therapy. They didn't really do anything, they just indicated which machines to use.My last few therapy sessions consisted only of using machines that I had at home. Some of the therapists that I had at first were pretty good, but the later ones seemed to just be going through te motions. My sheets were only changed a couple of times. Maintenance cleaned the room every day. They were fine. I was never offered a sponge bath. My assistant, who has been with me for 8 years, helped me in the shower after more than a week. I kept track for a few days, and the response time after pressing the call button averaged over 20 minutes. Glad that I wasn't having a heart attack. Nursing care was average. Only one nurse, named Carmen, seemed to genuinely care about me. None stand out as bad. During my 2 weeks there, I never once saw the doctor. I was ready to be discharged on a Tuesday. Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy had cleared me to go home.They said that I had regained what I had before my fall. When I pushed the idea of getting discharged, They asked the doctor and he said maybe Friday. I was furious. I said that there was no way that I was staying there until Friday. I threatened to leave AMA (Against Medical Advice). That got their attention and they discharged me. Other reviews say that they suspected that their discharge was delayed so that their insurance could be billed. read more

I really truly wish Yelp honored a less than 1 star review. I just want to first start off by saying I waited until my mom passed away yesterday before I left a review. My mom was never the type to have ill-will, but I'm not my mother, so here we go. This place was not always sandstone when it first opened up it was kindred so I'm not sure what happened there. If anyone reading this had loved ones in these facilities, please become involved. Ask your questions, talk to your loved ones because what goes on behind closed doors you will never know. There are some shining stars at this facility, and I hope they find better opportunities elsewhere. Michelle, the case manager,I am so surprised you are allowed to work with the general public. Our interactions with eachother were not pleasant and this wasn't my mom's first rodeo she has been sick for years. I can't believe you had the audacity to treat people as objects and not humans. My mom is not an amazon package. You can6 just drop off at my front door.These are living human beings who have thoughts and feelings and emotions. Have some compassion, or you should not be allowed to serve the general public. People like you are the reason these facilities get low ratings. So besides the terrible case manager mentioned above, it just seemed no one knew what the heck they were doing. I had to step in a lot to speak on my mom's behalf. It's vegas. Most facilities get low ratings. No one checks on these places, and that is a huge red flag. So please, if you are reading this and your loved one is sent here, please become involved. My mom's only communication was writing. I read every single conversation she had, and I am so surprised this place is still open. I will make it my duty to make sure everyone who is reading this gets a fair warning because no one should have to go through what I went through. read more

If I could give no stars at all I would. This facility needs to be permanently shut down and the nurses arrested. I have NEVER been so disgusted at the medical negligence and utter disrespect. My mother was sent here after having an AKA (above the knee amputation) she can not stand nor walk right now. The first night she was ignored crying all night in pain all nurses ignored her. Day two she had to use the bathroom FINALLY someone came in and told her to PEE THE BED because she was suppose to clock out and go home and didn't have time to "deal" with her. My poor mother wet the bed and was left for 27 hours in the pee soaked bed!!!!!!!! Day three she is ignored again, the medicine cart came by and when we asked what the pills were that they gave her she said "I don't know" A NURSE DOESNT KNOW WHAT PILLS SHE GAVE MY MOTHER!
