The country club is part of the Shoal Bay Resort and although its nothing great to look at from the outside, walk through those wrought iron gates and your mind will soon change.. Its all about the beer garden and the upstairs function area (I think it's a function area - there was a wedding at the time so we weren't able to check it out). I'd imagine the view up there would be magic !! A visit to Shoal Bay wouldn't be complete without at least one drink in this beer garden. I only wish this place was a little more "open" to the ocean but despite feeling the need to protect its customers from the breeze and the sand, it's a great spot to sit back, talk about owning a place like this along some part of the NSW coast (as you do) and enjoy a few with your besties.

We ordered a pizza and pasta to share, the pasta came out like it was a pre made cream bowl and the pizza - well we waited 1hour and 15 minutes for a pizza that ended up being take away. The waitress did alert us to a wait on pizzas when we sat down - however after 30 min and the place clearing with only four other tables.... lets just say, we won't be going back there ever again and will be telling all our friends to do the same !

Now, the coffee here is not great - but honestly the best cup in the area. But you don't really come here for the coffee, but rather the food. It is great! You have to love a place that has 8 different kinds of egg benny. You know a place is good, when you can't make up your mind of what to actual eat. Further, to make this place place even better all the workers here are really nice! Service is a bit slow, but that is only because it is extremely busy. But there are very nice and a smile goes a long way. So if you are in the Nelson Bay area, make sure you give this cafe a visit.
