It had been 8 weeks since my last cut so I took a chance on whoever was available at Westover, based on Yelp reviews. I walked in, waited less than 5 minutes, and got Vito. No muss, no fuss, very old school. Reminded me of when I was a kid. Loved it and paid exactly what I would have paid driving crosstown.

I think we're narrowing it down. A Barber Shop is all of that, its where you go to get trimmed up, where you go to laugh and enjoy good company. It's part of a community. It's where your barber knows your name, knows your cut, teases you about being drunk the other night and asks how your cuts or your wife doing. It's where a middle ages woman loudly proclaims she would have volunteered to be R Kelly's home video.... I spent about 40 minutes in the chair today to get a bit off the top and get my beard trimmed up. Holy crap. I have not had such a skilled barber in my life. I don't remember my barbers name, I know I know, bad Yelper! I put it in my phone and accidentally deleted it. His was the second chair from the door. He used like 5 kinds of razors, he used scissors, combs, compressed air, a straight razor! This man was talented! I especially feel like a dick cause he repeated my name a few times and I know he's gonna remember when I go back in a few weeks. About 6 chairs take up half the space, a lot of wood and a lot character, they have a really nice place set up. Tin ceilings that I am always a fan off and a big screen finish off the space along with some benches and chairs to sit on while waiting your turn. Go early because they get busy quick! A beard trim and a hair cut, $15! Super cuts charges something like $12 now! And they will not come CLOSE to giving you the kind of cut you'll get here. At super cuts your going to get a girl with big hair who just got her license, she'll take clippers, run them over your head and try to flirt with you as you cash out so you give her an extra dollar tip. These men are Barbers and a credit to their craft. FTR -- he's 11 and sat very still, so it's not as though the stylist was trying to cut a squirming toddler's hair. His hair is now wildly uneven. There is absolutely no blending in the back or on the sides. Even the bangs are completely crooked. On the top, some parts are two inches long and others are four. No rhyme or reason to it. Total hatchet job. The woman who cut his hair took a very long time, which makes me doubly puzzled. Seriously, I don't know how she could have looked at him afterwards and been remotely proud of that work. She was also very nice - and we were just so astonished at how bad the cut was - that we just paid and left. Sadly, I'm going to have to take him somewhere else to have it fixed, or possibly just buzz it myself (which is what we usually do, but he had been growing it out and really wanted a nice, "big-kid" cut, especially as he is graduating from 6th grade this week). My bangs had been cut at a 45 degree angle and were way shorter than I had asked for and when I complained he simply told me "but that's what you asked for." I don't remember asking you to cut one side extremely short then cut across at an angle leaving the other side longer, I said that I wanted to keep my hair long in the front and showed u exactly how much hair I wanted cut. Apart from the bangs the side of my head being cut was blending into the top of my head so the shape of my head looked like an egg. Took 2 months to look how I wanted it to the day it got cut, never going again.
