They brought 2 loads of chips later in the summer. Then, last month a huge, healthy-looking 90' tall tree fell and I learned that 4 others were at risk of hitting buildings if they went down. There were also 2 junky cherry trees and a smaller crab apple to be taken out. Two crews (10 men) started at around 9 AM and finished at 6 PM. One man cleared a long area of brush to be covered with chips, which was my original plan before the tree fell. They ground all of the stumps, the huge root/dirt ball, spread all of the chips and cleaned up as they worked. I am very happy with their work, promptness and pleasantness.

They said they would…read morestart work in the Spring but wouldn't give me a start date and kept saying that the weather was too cold. They finally finished on 6-18-2024. They presented a plan for landscaping our property but what they promised and what they delivered couldn't have been more different. From the outset I told Shelly that I wanted shrubs that would bloom in 3 seasons. Now, 28 months later, none of them has ever bloomed and one of them died. They trimmed one of our rhododendron bushes and it also died. The project cost $11,176.80 and there was no hardscaping involved. Shelly started-off pleasant and helpful but as time went on she became testy. When I raised the issue she apologized, but nothing changed. They offer a 1-year guaranty on the shrubs and plants, but it often takes 2 seasons before shrubs bloom. By then it was too late to invoke the guaranty. I cannot recommend this company. Please note that the last review was dated in November of 2019. I guess that should have been a red flag. I also never asked for references. Those are mistakes I will not make again. One other thing of note: I visited their property and never saw any plants or shrubs. I suspect that they buy the plants from other nurseries, mark them up and install them. Beware!

Hired this company to remove some overgrown boxwoods that were covering my windows, plant some…read moresmall boxwoods and azaleas, and clear an area of grass for me to plant flowers. It looked good right afterwards but my first attempt to plant flowers was brutal. Digging a hole was impossible. My vision of planting flowers in that newly cleared area was dashed. Grass was obviously not fully removed before putting landscape fabric and mulch down, and within a very short time, I had grass growing in that area again. I was very disappointed and called multiple times to request that this be corrected. It took a little while for them to come back, (hurricane played a factor,) but they finally did and this time they removed ALL the grass growing underneath the fabric cloth, put down new fabric cloth and fresh mulch, and did an absolutely beautiful job. Although they didn't get it right the first time, they were honorable and came back and made it right so I'm giving them five stars. I also want to mention that one crew found a key I had forgotten I hid in the removed bushes and handed it to me. Pretty amazing!

Joe at Earthworks was the first to respond. I had four outfits visit the job site and provide quotes. Joe's quote came in right in the middle of the pack, and he could schedule me the next week. And he very much seemed to be on the same page for what I was trying to accomplish. He and his crew just departed. They showed up on time, and took the time estimated. They were very careful around my landscaping, and did a great job of the tree work. They have completely cleaned up and left my yard in great shape. My front garden now will get the light it needs, and bigger than that, I now have a year round view of the Blue Ridge from my front porch.
