Had the spicy tantan, extra noodles, add pork belly. Oh my god was it good. Great depth of flavor in the broth. The pork belly was fatty and delicious. I like my eggs a little runnier, but the flavor was good. Very fast service, clean atmosphere. Great place. I'll be back for sure. I arrived pretty early for dinner on a Friday with no wait, but by the time I left people were queuing up. read more

Only authentic ramen in Ottawa merits a 4 star. The service has gotten slower.. Its taking longer for food to come to the table and they've also raise their prices by $1. The prices now start from $11. It starts to die down at 8pm during weekdays if you want to avoid the lineups. The spicy tan tan is limited quantity and also my favourite on the menu ($11.50). The tables are a bit too close together and you can definitely hear other people's conversations. If you're a big eater, you can order extra noodles for $1.50. read more

We wanted to try a Ramen spot and we settled on this place. It was a good choice. I bought the spicy Tantan and the portions are big enough that you can get just one big bowl of ramen and you're good. It costs anywhere from 10- 13 bucks. Well worth it. This place is delicious! I got lucky and was able to walk right in without waiting for a table, but the place was still busy for a Monday night and a line for a table started forming before long. It is definitely worth the wait! The appetizers are good (had gyoza and fried chicken) and the ramen is delicious. Excellent service as well! Full disclosure: if you come for dinner, expect to wait about a half hour for a table if you're in a group. That said, I can't knock this place at all. The food is fantastic, filling and extremely affordable, the service is very good and attentive, the atmosphere is cozy, and the prices are bargain basement tier. Would definitely recommend any spicy dish on the menu. Ottawa no ichiban desu. read more

Decent and cheap, but I'm not a ramen fan or connoisseur. So take my review with a grain of salt. Or black fungus. I had the edamame and the fried chicken bites. Both were 5$ ea. My friend had the ramen with black fungus and really enjoyed it. It was our first time here. It was massively busy so we shared a table, which was fine. Because it was so busy, we didn't linger. I was aware of things taking a whole fir people at our table to pay and a few screw- ups. Lunch was about 30 minutes. I'd recommend going at another time. And if you're a ramen fan, you might like it a lot. read more

Spicy noodles not available. Either they are great or restaurant is poor planner - or both. Tried the black miso. I love garlic, it's never too much. Oh wait, this was too much of everything. Too much salt, too much garlic, too much fat in broth. I've had good ramen. I've had ok ramen. I've had great ramen. I've now had bad ramen. Sorry. Not be be returning. Only redeeming thing about this place was the service. Efficient and polite. read more

In the capital for a few days and wanted to check this place out as I love a good bowl of ramen. The walk to this place was suppose to be 15 mins top but because the sign is so small, I missed it a few times. Needless to say I was excited to see if it was all worth it. The verdict is that it's a good place for ramen and a 15 min walk is worth it, but I can say I've had better. Yes broth was flavourful but it was missing the aroma that I'm used to. I got the Tonkotsu black ramen, one of the popular ones, because they didn't have the Tan Tan. The chasu was good, seasoned well. I like spicy food so I asked for some chilli. The price is pretty reasonable, $10.75 and with extra chasu for $2, it came to under $13 before tax. The menu isn't extensive either and there are no chicken choices. I miss my fav ramen place in Bellevue WA. read more

I had some pretty high expectations for this place; I have only had 'fast food' ramen that I thought was pretty great, so real ramen?!? I'm in! Service = great. Very friendly, personable and helpful Prices = very good. A lot of food for a great price. Quality of food = meh... The broth was to die for (yea, i just gushed about broth), the noodles were certainly better than Mr. Noodles. But the 'crispy pork belly' wasn't crispy! It was really missing that crunch element. Overall, not sure I would go again. read more

Having just visited Japan in September the bf and I were pleasantly surprised when we ate at Sansotei. I had the Spicy Tan Tan Ramen and loved it. I will definitely be returning! We went around 7pm on a weekday and didn't have to wait to be seated. We were a table of 4 and shared the gyoza, the chicken zangi, and the pork bowl (gyu don), everything was delicious and reminded us of authentic japanese sides and ramen. read more

If you're looking for the best ramen in Ottawa, come here. The lines speak for themselves, even when it's super hot outside. Be warned, it can get stuffy inside but it's worth it. The black garlic is my favourite, really tasty. read more

Finally Ottawa gets a good ramen place. And not just good for Ottawa, but good anywhere. I was seriously impressed with this place. You will come here multiple times to eat, so you'll eventually try everything, but if you have to choose one, get the tonkotsu black. The garlic oil really makes it special. The broth is rich, and they are very generous with the chashu (pork belly). The broth is good enough to drink afterwards. I like the thick noodles better than the thin. I've tried a couple of the appetizers (gyoza and fried chicken) and they were pretty good. But to be honest, I would just stick with the ramen. If you're extra hungry, get another portion of noodles, and you will be very full. The place seats just 30, so go when it's not the lunch or dinner rush, or be prepared to wait in line. read more

So having experienced ramen all over the world, i have to say this place though there is constantly a line out the door is mediocre at best. Ottawa is obviously desperate for a good ramen house. Don't get me wrong, the food is not bad per se. But there is no way it is even in the top 50 percent of ramen shops scattered throughout north america. I really wanted to like it as i emjoy travelling to Canada and Ottawa is one of the coolest places in Canada, no intent on the weather as it was nice when i was there, but go somewhere else for your ramen fix. read more

The bathroom is quite nice. Nice wooden decor but small. It would be a really nice closet if you didn't have a toilet there. In any case they are quite clean. Best ramen I've ever had but pretty much always never get the right type of noodle. this isn't a big deal but they'll ask you about things or thick noodle but it never works out. The ramen is so good I don't really care. read more

My poke bowl came with sushi rice, mixed greens, edamame, cucumbers, avocado, shredded carrots, and shredded surimi crab (they call this Kani salad, it's basically shredded imitation crab with maybe a bit of mayo). I got 5 pieces of chicken kaarage. They were crispy and nicely seasoned. I enjoyed them despite them being dark meat, lol. The vegetable ingredients were fresh. The sushi rice was a bit clumpy, but once I mixed all the ingredients together, it was fine. Service was wonderful. We were greeted right away and brought a carafe of water. Once we got our food the server noticed we were trying to share a bit of our meals with each other and she offered to bring us 2 small bowls. The bowls were incredibly helpful and made sharing much better and less messy, lol. I settled for the popular Black Shin which just means black garlic was added to the Shin. I brought my own cayenne pepper which is good as they kept forgetting to bring the chili oil. I never got it. Had to ask many times for soy sauce, came at the end of the meal. The noodles themselves were good. I brought my leftover broth home, I never waste a drop! Alcohol, you can choose from a beer (Sapporo) or sake. We opted for just water. Maybe an ok place for take out but I would think twice about being seated in here.

Consistently delicious food, and substitutions available. My go to order is Gyudon with it's perfectly balanced sweet savory flavour and wonderful rice texture and Tonkotsu Black, Thick Noodle, Sub Black Fungus for Bamboo Shoots = a maximum comfort food. I suggest the option to order extra noodles as I always have enough broth to eat it as another meal. This place has welcome to Ottawa given the dearth of ramen places. It is very good ramen. Not quite amazing, but very good. The problem is that the service is often slow despite the long line-ups at meal times and that the food quality/taste is inconsistent. Overall, a good place to eat. And not for vegetarians. I was shocked as hell that the table next to me asked not to have pork in their ramen.. Ramen is a pork-based broth soup. read more

Love, love The Tonkatsu Black Ramen!!! Ordered the broth and thick noodles separate for pick up. The broth is so aromatic and flavourful. The noodles were chewy and not overy cooked - just the way I like it. It comes with chashu, egg, black fungus,green onions and garlic oil. Don't be discouraged by the black fungus name. It's a crunchy textured mushroom. I highly recommend you try it! read more

The food is perfect every time and you can't choose the wrong ramen. Delivery is good and (during non-COVID times) you'll need to show up early to line up. This isn't a place to enjoy a lingering meal with friends; there's a very limited drinks menu (beer, sake) and everyone is waiting for you to leave. Extremely good ramen for its price point. The broth is amazing and the meat is cooked to perfection. The presentation of the ramen as well as the atmosphere is very welcoming. However the restaurant is very small, so its recommended to go in pairs or have a reservation beforehand. read more

SO good. If you come during peak hours there will be a line, but it'll be worth it! I come between classes and the food is DELICIOUS and the wait is not so long. I always get the garlic oil ramen and it's so good. Always hits the spot and I keep coming back! read more
