I work with computers and as a result of COVID found myself working long hours in front of a computer. Over time I developed a tightening neck and shoulder and back pain. I realized I needed of a professional therapeutic massage therapist to get back to a good place. I did some research on yelp and was very impressed with the comments I found about April and Santee Massage. The office complex where April's business Santee Massage is close to the Ramada Inn in Santee. Her office is easy to find, it is the first office on the left (lower level). She shares this location with two talented acupuncture specialists. When you meet April you will find she is very personable and smart. She has over ten years of experience and has gone to school far surpassing time studying massage techniques off many studying this field. She is an expert. Before starting to work on me April asked targeted questions that came from over ten years experience. These questions helped her maximize the time she she spent doing the therapeutic massage. The detail of the questions let me know I was in good experienced hands. Some issues she covered were asking me If I wanted targeted massage specific to my areas in pain verses general massage. The massages was given Small office room one well suited with lights that can be dimmed and aromas to help enhance the therapeutic massage experience. She has a high quality table with a light blanket and sheet below. She even has fans that give a reassuring breeze while she works. Her skill has lead to many returning customers. As she worked on me I could see that her high reviews on Yelp were well deserved. She obviously knows what she is doing. She works with her hands following a guided plan. In her head Her pre-questions now act as a map she uses to move from one area to the next. She worked not only on areas that were causing me pain but also other areas as well. She explained to me how everything when it comes to your body and pain is interrelated. She had special methods she knows like holding up my legs up and folding them towards the main frame of my body relieving tension in my lower back (genius). All her training and knowledge she has gained in those ten years is paying off. From start to end April is very thorough she made sure as she worked that I was ok and not in pain from any of the work she was doing. She adjusted her techniques as needed. From my first appointment I can say April shows a sincere interest in wanting to help. She, because she is good is very busy. You may need a couple of weeks to be able to see her. Post massage: The overall experience was better than expected. I am very happy with the overall results. Yes I am a bit sore, but that is a good thing and to be expected, I think. She makes no promises but is so efficient at what she does that I truly believe she will be successful in helping me over time. Her prices are fair. I plan on seeng her for more sessions until my pain is under control. I fully believe April will using her skills help me feel a lot better. I highly recommend her. I was worried that I would be able to get In right away but, April made a special time slot so that I can come in! Thank you April! April is amazing! I only get massages once every few years for bday presents and such, but I started having pain from a pinched nerve and couldn't sleep for two days. I had no idea that a massage could fix a pinched nerve, but after explaining what I was feeling, April not only identified the nerve/muscle, she also worked it out in one session and I slept like a baby that night. She is very knowledgeable about muscles / nerves / ligaments, etc. and how to get you back on your feet. The office was very clean, inviting, and relaxing. The massage room itself was even more so with good smells, relaxing lighting, and calming music. Her massage table has a bed warmer (optional) which was awesome, and she has essential oils (also optional) if you're into that sort of thing. I usually do a 90 minute massage though she has recently adding cupping so I will have to give that a try next time. April is TRULY meant for this! :D I am extremely particular to energy, so I partake in a great deal of research before considering someone to massage me. I am very happy I went with my intuition on this one, and came to Santee Massage, as April is a very kind and knowledgeable woman. She wanted to ensure I was comfortable from the moment I arrived - asked if I would like some water, gave me the complete run down of what her massage entails, and shared that she provides "cupping" services. (At first I declined, but then allowed a few problem areas to be worked on with the cupping, and it definitely helped.) I really appreciated her consideration of the idea that I am a HUMAN, rather than the "next number" on her schedule. She did not start the clock until the massage started, and accommodated all of my needs (breast pad for laying on stomach, heated bed, pillow, eye mask, essential oils, and provided her rates - reasonable!) I booked a 6-hour corporate event featuring April, and her chair massages were a HIT!! The chair was cushy and soft, and she adjusted it to make sure my body fit perfectly. I'm a bit of a germ-a-phobe, so I was comforted watching April unpack her numerous supplies to ensure the chair was always sterilized and clean. She had a disposable covering that was placed on the headrest, so each person did not touch the same surface. It was the small details like this that really stood out to me. April is an AMAZING masseuse. She is extremely knowledgable about the human body, and asks great questions to better understand the type of massage and pressure you will need. I have come here 3 times now. April is wonderful. She is thoughtful and while she does have a routine, it is not a one size fits all massage. The last time I was there my traps were hard as rocks. She took the time to work them out until they were completely loose. It's obvious she cares about her practice and her clients. I can't recommend her enough. The waiting area is small but comfortable. But the only time you'll use it is to fill out first time client paperwork. The restroom is large and clean. The massage room is lovely with soft sheets and a warmer on the table. Appointments are very easy to schedule online. The location is easy to get to and parking is a breeze. I only have two complaints and they are minor: generally the window is open (she is working hard and it's nice to have some air) and sometimes you'll hear some louder cars or a Harley that probably lives in the area. Second, the building is a general office building and it's a little old; the carpet is pretty well trod. Like I said, minor complaints. They are not enough to keep me away. I've fallen asleep (only for a second) despite the road noise and once you're inside April's establishment it's so lovely and relaxing you won't care what the building looked like from the outside. read more

April was excellent at making me feel instantly at ease. She didn't feel like those girls at the more expensive spas who act like you're there to offer THEM a service. We spent a good 15 minutes talking in depth about the areas where I had been experiencing pain. She even had a cool app that displayed the musculoskeletal system where we were able to peel away muscles so I could try to identify exactly where I was feeling the pain. Her technique is the kind I should have received but never did at more expensive establishments, the kind I received from experienced thrapists at the expensive chiropractor I used to go to. She let me customize my experience from the essential oils used, various cushions like a breast cushion which is great if you're nursing, the volume of the music and of course pressure levels. I am someone who needs very firm pressure and the girls at the spa who looked like they weren't dressed to work never cut it. I've been to Ahhh twice now. Found the business through a Living Social deal but it's definitely a keeper! The location is decorated with care and provides a very relaxing atmosphere. April is a great massage therapist and did little extras that make her stand out from others. On Monday I had her Lomi, Lomi massage. I've never tried this modality before - what an incredibly relaxing treatment accompanied by Hawaiian music . . . felt like I was on the sands of the big island. If you've never experienced Lomi Lomi, then you should definitely schedule one with April!
