Don't bother, this is not an outlet mall to get excited about. will write more tomorrow, I had just done up a whole review on this, but then I fell asleep at my desk and hit the wrong darned button and it disappeared. In the meantime, shop elsewhere. I'm amazed any of these places are still in business, the place looks like a ghost town. Ok, so here is the deal on this place..... Santee is kind of an oasis in I-95 area of SC. There are some decent places for dining, and some cheap places to spend the night. What caught my eye (as we were getting off the highway to go to Clarks restaurant (see my reviews), I saw a sign for Russell Stover Outlet, and it was right among the signs for "SANTEE OUTLET MALL". i thought, "WOW! lil ole Santee has hit the big time now, they even have an outlet mall? Amazing!" Not that we wanted to shop, but I was thinking it was good for the locals and weary people who want something to do. We were on a quest for ice cream only.... I drove toward the outlet mall (after we had our nice lil lunch) to get us a couple of ice creams before we resumed our long drive. We drove down a road that was more leading to the gallows than leading toward a bustling center of a shopping mecca for the masses. Well, we couldn't believe this place, it was downright sorrowful, and I so feel for the people who live around there, to think this is probably the best thing they have within hundreds of miles. The few Name brand places that are still there MUST be using the location as a tax write-off, no way they could make ANY money here! I want to thank the individuals comments on Santee Outlet Mall. I am the Owner of the Mall. I am 81 years old. I often hear from my Wife that I am not perfect. The older I get, the more I try to correct my errors. I have owned the Mall since 2000. The Mall has lost tenants due to the demographics as to the population, with the exception of the majors, that have remained, which sells clothes, considerablly below retail, I personally purchased products from the mall because they are well below the retail price. We advertise in the Welcome Center brochures in surrounding areas, with offers of discounts on most of the stores. In addition, we have 9 billboards on 95 and advertise in all the brochures for golf, fishing, and parks. I am proud to say we offer jobs to an area which has the highest unemployment rate in the state. These factors prevent other majors from moving into the center. I have personally opened a store in the mall within the past month entitled "Santee Surplus" which sells all varieties of pillows, pillow covers, and other accessories used for the home as well as 20 odd varieties of melamine dishes. We will be selling flags in all varieties nexxt week as well as 50 different items for childrens parties. The prices in the store is below wholesale and offers discounts from 5% to 50% contingent upon volume. On 2014 the Panama Canal will be able to receive the largest ships in the world. A division of Debai World, the 4th largest company in the world, has purchased 1323 acres partially abutting our center, and will construct a million square foot warehouse to receive goods by rail. This will bring in business that receive the containers, and will revive the whole town of Santee and especially the mall. read more
